Del was excited when the new pet shop opened up in Subeta. They have been trying to restock the tags but no luck yet. That's because the three blue canines of Subeta are Del's favorites... the playful telenine (inspiration for Vivian's outfit), the sweet kumos (inspiration for Emma's outfit) and the energetic ruffie (inspiration for outfit modeled by Del).
Each outfit attempts to use the colors of the relevant blue canine, the patterns like blocks of color on a telenine, spots or speckles on a ruffie and moons on a kumos, as well as accent colors of the leashes. Del added some gold jewelry to each outfit to bring the set together and symbolize how much they love these creatures, and a touch of a literal detail to each model's wig or makeup (ears for the kumos and ruffie, fangs for the telenine).

CRAP i'm sorry for some reason i just can't get this right. sep 25 is the start date, the end date is october 1. The schedule on the front page is correct, and made when I was actually referencing a calendar and paying attention. Thanks for your patience & being more sane than me.

Charlay tried to create an outfit around the panda bear, as she has loved the adorable bears her entire life. And she also instantly knew that the first designed outfit would be for Phrynia, cause she knew that Phrynia loved the bears almost as much as she did. For the second design Charlay used her dog, Jive, as inspiration and because of that she was the only model that could make this outfit work the way it was intended. The third design is being modeled by Rogan Phoenix, her favorite animal being a cat. Lavinia Issa wanted to be the model for the fourth design, she has loved stories about unicorns since she was a child.
animal items need to be unique in their use in your design! so only one of those models can have that particular otter wearable.
I thinl I read it wrong. DX editing
The thylacine, which is now presumed extinct, was once the apex predator of Tasmania. It had stripes (like a tiger), a dog-like head, and a vocalisation that reminded some people of hyenas. But it was not a cat, a dog, or a hyena: it was a marsupial.
These beautiful animals were hunted to death because it was thought that they preyed upon sheep. Now, we know that they probably wouldn't have been capable of killing adult mammals that large. A few thylacines were kept as pets in the late 19th century. Imagine a world where the thylacine's lovers had outnumbered the thylacine's haters.
The thylacine had a coat of tawny brown, reddish brown or greyish brown, with stripes running down its mid-to-lower back, tail and hind legs. In the outfits below, the lace, beading and striped bustle on KIRIN's dress, and the gladiator sandals worn by Callista and Liana are meant to evoke the stripes. The thylacine also had beautiful eyes, heavily lined in black and white, and the eye makeup on the models is meant to evoke the thylacine's face, although Liana wears tiger-striped sunglasses to represent the way the thylacine currently hides from sight. While thylacines did not have striped faces, they did have numerous vibrissae (sensory whiskers) so we have recalled those with face painting.
Callista Zabini represents the wild thylacine.
KIRIN represents the pet thylacine of the late 19th century. She is accompanied by a Tasmanian devil, a close relative of the thylacine, which is endangered today.
Liana Kujaku represents the 21st century thylacine...a steampunk callout to the past, or a delightfully devious urban survivor? She is accompanied by a wallaby, the traditional prey of the thylacine, but this one seems to have become a friend.

Callista Zabini would like to thank Trowenna Academy in Tasmania for providing the skilfully constructed lifelike robotic thylacine, and her sister Camilla and sister-in-law Zainab for helping to obtain the Australian wildlife ambassadors joining us today.

i love it! but the restriction on this challenge is each HA must have at least one animal wearable. (it doesn't have to be your theme animal!)
...you mean an actual animal companion wearable? Because ... there's only one thyla on all subeta... if need be I suppose I could use wallabies (which they ate) and devils (which ate after them)....
(I thought animal wearables were ears and claws type things, they all have claws and one has ears...)

sorry, by "animal wearables" i mean wearables that are literally an animal. and that's the point of a restriction-- to make you get creative. i'm sorry it wasn't clearer!
I get that it's to make you get creative, lol, I just maybe wouldn't have chosen an animal that was presumed extinct if I'd realised (although hands down, the thylacine is my favourite animal), but I'll figure it out tonight, I've worked too hard on these to choose another :)
ETA: Figured out. Also that thylacine is suspiciously lifelike and Trowenna is probably a school similar to the one Callista attended, which couldn't possibly still have a live one around...or could it...

Finally got my has together XD
well done in round 2! you all have some adorable designs. here's round three, and i triple checked the due date this time ;)

plain text version
Round 3: Season of the Witch
October is here! The air is crisp, the leaves are crunchy, the pumpkin is spiced, and Halloween is just around the corner. Whether it's typical or unusual, positive or negative, personal or broad, make a design representing what October means to you.
Restrictions: Just to make things interesting, you are NOT allowed to use any items that include any of the following words in their names, even if only partially:
Halloween Morostide Witch Costume Pumpkin Orange Skull/Skeleton Spooky Mask Fall Autumn Harvest Black Ghost
Due date: October 8 (midnight of that day)
To avoid confusion on the restriction: an example of the name restriction would be that you could not use "bitten black silk" because it has the word black in the name, and you would also not be able to use "blackcurrant cattycake cut" because the word black is contained in blackcurrant. Similarly you cannot use anything with "fallen" in the name, because that contains the word fall.
Please note you can still use black/orange items, masks, things with ghosts on them, etc, you just cannot use an item that has that in the name. Whether you take a sideways design approach or scour for items that are named esoterically is up to you! I recommend using your browser's find on page function if you need to quickly check against the list of words.
Your model's starting eyes/nose/lips/tattoos/etc are the exception, if they contain these words you can keep them anyways.
Presenting the example for this round is Mx Fizbee Maunders of BabyDevil Designs. They had this to say about their design:
"Sure, pumpkin spice is delicious, and Halloween is all well and gay, but what I always look forwards to with the beginning of October is the cool weather -- and the chance to start busting out my winter wardrobe! So I've pieced together something exemplary for you all. Aren't I beautiful? I'm just divine.
Of course, I don't always dress this drab, only when I really want to drag out the drama, and while, let's face it, that's always, I also couldn't resist leaning into the Halloween feel to create something that really said "October." Oh wait, that was me just now. I'm sorry, that was a very bad joke.
Get it, lovelies? It's time to dim the lights, put the goth in gothic and the pump in pumpkin, and make me proud. All of us proud. Well, mostly me."
Fizbee, we just got done explaining the round. You're supposed to lead by example, not... oh well. As always, feel free to ask any questions or clarifications. On your marks, get set, go!
finally got the scores up!

I like this. I like the way they're different but still have a vein in common, and I like the way you capture not only the colours of each dog, but also their vibe: the more modern, spunky look of the telenine; the dreamy, classic look of the kumos. But I... don't really know what's going on with Del's outfit. I don't know what I'm looking at. It takes a bit of study to figure out what exactly is happening there. Once I figure it out, I actually like it quite a bit, though.
Magnus says: 8/10
Overall, I like your designs very much. The telenine outfit is pretty much perfect. It's stylish, it's fresh, it's well coordinated. The kumos outfit is beautiful, and I realise what you were going for with the red heart clip is to mimic the kumos's collar, which I think is very clever. However: the heart on the kumos's collar is too small to make the connection immediately obvious - it took me the 3rd or 4th time looking at it - and it draws the attention in a way that makes it hard to appreciate the rest of the outfit. As for the ruffie outfit: I like the outfit itself, and it goes well enough with the other two, but I'm not really reminded of a ruffie from it, even with the wig. It gives a very elegant saheric vibe, which is not what I think when I think ruffie. The green collar doesn't really mesh with it either, unlike the telenine's red bow, which feels like a very natural part of the outfit.
Lotus says: 8/10
Great choice! I didn't even notice all the dogs are blue around here until you pointed it out. You got a whole three different directions with a common thread thing going on, which I am always a sucker for. And with the telenine and kumos you matched the style to the dog extremely well. You got their vibes down. The ruffie is a little weirder. I still think you did a good job though.

Now this is what I'm into. Cute!! Fluffy!! Elegant!! Pastel!! Lack of eyebrows!! My one complaint is the bunny at Clara's feet doesn't match the rest of the whites, but I'm not about to take a point off for it. The theme is that the animals are all cute? Damn skippy it is. Furthermore, the fact that you managed to match all your whites save that one bunny is really impressive.
Magnus says: 10/10
These all go together really well. They're simple, but you pull it off well. The similar skirt shapes, the curly hairstyles, the minimal accessories -- all of these lead to a cohesive design. You could've had more variance, but you don't need to. It's beautiful already.
Lotus says: 8/10
It's a real simple concept, but I feel like a good choice-- lots of things are white and fluffy! However all three of your designs are practically the same. They're pretty, yeah, and highly cohesive, and honestly, a pretty nice solid concept that highlights similarities while having minor differences. It's just a little plain!

This just doesn't seem to mesh to me. At first glance it's a cool effect, but when I look closer the hair and the makeup go with each other, the dress and tights and shoes go with each other, but each set doesn't quite go with the other, and the cape and jewellery go with nothing. I see what you were going for, but I feel like you didn't manage to tie it up nicely.
Magnus says: 7/10
I agree with Fizbee that this doesn't hang together as well as it could have, but moreover, I like it. I just like it. It shouldn't work, and in some ways it doesn't, but in a lot of ways it does. Even though the colours don't really match, they play together well, and create an interesting look. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see someone wearing this in a club, catching everyone's attention with that glowing dress.
Lotus says: 10/10
Hell, I like this. The glowing? The little glasses? The whole rock star look? I'm into it! The necklaces break up the outfit visually, but not in a bad way. And I love your choice in animals-- I hadn't even heard of that particular species before, and those colours are such a rich vein for a design. I love all the little notes you nailed them in.
Total: 20/30 Your total score is now 50. You are in 3rd place.
(As a side note, I, blue, love the details & personality you put in your descriptions of the designs & runway scenes. They're a joy to read.)

This is so pretty! It's elegant, it's cute, it's coordinated! I can't stop looking at it. All the ruffles at the bottoms of the skirts give it a very adorable unity, and I like that you have a balanced amount of black and white overall. It's so tasty!
Magnus says: 10/10
I was going to say something about the one look having a long skirt and the others having short skirts, but you know what? It works. This looks like a mother and daughters, especially with how similar all your models look. It's a very well coordinated design due to the colour palette, as well as the femininity of all the outfits. And yet they're all very distinct, each with a style that feels appropriate for each animal. Well done.
Lotus says: 10/10
This is a pretty simple concept, but I feel like you did something masterful with it: not only did you match each animal with a style that suits them (pandas & cute street punk, huskies & wintry boho, kitties & cuteness fluff n bows, and unicorns & classical elegance), but you also managed to recreate each animal's markings more or less at the same time. It's brilliant.

Valiska's Scores
Fizbee says: 10/10
Oh. My. Gosh! I was thrilled when I saw you picked the thylacine, it was such an interesting choice. And you pulled it off so beautifully! I love the colour scheme: it's not the same one as the thylacine itself, but still lends itself in reference well. Plus, it's just pretty. I also like all the places you've subtly put stripes -- KIRIN's skirt folds, Callista's dreads. And the way all the designs have a draped aspect in common is a very good tie-in, and a subtle one! You make the pieces look like they're all from the same design without making it obvious how, which I love.
Magnus says: 10/10
Oh, this is beautiful. The colours are rich, consistent, and very well coordinated. The eye flows across each one perfectly, and they each represent their era well: the pet thylacine is more froofy and done up, the wild one far less so, and the modern one covered in metal as is our age. I also like how each models' hair/hair accessories seems to match their companion animal. It draws the top and bottom of each design together visually.
Lotus says: 10/10
I would give this 11/10 if I could. It's so clever what you did with representing the thylacine in three time periods, and really unique from where most people took this, and from where I expected it to go. Not to mention the thylacine is just a great choice to begin with! The other animal choices were great, too: you kept it thylacine themed while still fitting the restriction. I like what you did with the outfits, too: they all have a steampunk air to them, which I think fits the thylacine well: half past, half a future that never was.
Total: 30/30 Your total score is now 59. You are in 1st place.
The people with the highest scores this round are Rox and Valiska. Congrats! You really blew me away.
I can't recall if any of my model bases incorporate those words, but I don't have to change my model bases if they do, do they? I'm talking about the nose/eyes/facial features.

That was fun and TOUGH at the same time :)

Kat is pumpkin spice for life. Though she couldn't wear anything with the word pumpkin she figured she would make an outfit around her favorite drink anyways!
Romeo always the hopeless romantic went a slightly different theme, wearing one of Kat's designs he was a "knight" in shining armor, everyone wants to dress up like their favorite character for Halloween.
Clara not one to dress scary took a more heavenly theme thanks to Kat. No vampires are gonna mess with her!
Ramora liked to be more elegant on Moro but at the same time a costume in a way.
no, you don't, those are an exception. forgot to mention that; will edit the announcement post.
that was my experience too with the example, i'm glad you had fun! those are really cute.
I was actually also curious about that cause Ramora all of her facial features have black in the name XDD
October is the month that ends with Samhain, the Celtic New Year and the festival of death, rebirth, and communion with the ancestors. In the dark of the moon, and in the nights surrounding the holiday, the faerie tribes go on rades, processionals in which they show off their finery--but a rade can turn into a Wild Hunt, as well, so they all go armed. The Queens don't carry weapons, but that's because they don't need to.

Callista Zabini and Liana Kujaku are the queens of the tribes of the Earth and the Sea. Benedetto is a prince of the Sea, come to pay court to the queen of the Earth. KIRIN and Paz Courinna are the faerie knights who serve them.

Entering: Downtown Carneval with ... Honey, Plum and Candy!
Debussy fills the air, the spotlights paint the glow of dancing fireflies onto the catwalk. First on stage is Jamie Wildsmith, announced as "Gold and Honey", showing gold powdered desserts and caramel apples, colored leaves shortly before they fall down, and the last warm days of the year. Seconds after her entry, Julien Wildsmith follows with an ensemble of "Plum and Cozy", giving us wool and long shirts and evenings in front of a crackling bonfire. Both siblings wait on the sidelines until Carmella Delambre enters, spreading her wings, giving us "Costumes and Candy". No tricks here, folks, just treats.

Charlay instantly knew Rogan would be the best choice for the first outfit. A dark elf was exactly how people often described Rogan as she usually wore darker colors. For the sad and tired demonic lady, Phrynia would be the best choice, as acting was something she liked to do. The third outfit (spider demon) Charlay loved to show.
