i'd love to see them anyway when you get the chance!
Outfit Not FoundOutfit Not Found Opposite sides of the color wheel. Kat choose to join in on the competition herself again, finding herself and Clara two be to sides of the same coin. Both Christmas colors though on opposites of the spectrum.
oh that's lovely!! i like the same items in different colours approach.
That was pure luck! LOL Sorry again for not turning it in. I did enjoy your contest a bunch just got distracted
As the person closest to winning as of last post of scores, I'd feel better about whatever place I take if and were included after their posts are up, since they made avatars, Morostide is crazy and hard on those of us with attention issues, and currently there are only 2 other people in the running. But I understand if doesn't want to do it that way since there are rules and stuff.
I just don't want to wonder (if I win, which isn't a sure thing of course!) as to whether I still would've won had everyone's entries been judged.
Callista's a Slytherin and so am I, but her ambition is really to be the best designer, not just to win all the prizes. Also, we're all friends here :)

(pinging everyone so they can see it) i'd like that too, i just didn't want to & have any of you think me unfair for straying from the rules. but if y'all are all okay with it i will totally add a few more days onto this round for flyingkat and everdear to add their entries. (and the rest of yall can edit yours too, i'd just be opening the round up again for the next few days.)
I don't mind an extension of the deadline at all, so they can enter the last round. Would love to see they're tries on the theme. But I also think that because 3 people had made it before the deadline (even with morostide going on) that should also be considered in the scoring of the last round maybe?
how about everyone who got in before the deadline gets 5 bonus points, and we extend the round?
Whatever works for everyone else :)
Seems okay, what is the new deadline please?
the new deadline is this saturday, november 3 (by midnight). as i said you can edit even if you already submitted if you want, you will still get the bonus points. i will try to get the round 4 scores up by then too.
Aaah, thank you for the additional time, and also a big thanks to the other participants who are okay with that! ❤️ Of course I caught a mean virus while being on the road so I don't feel like writing that much. Luckily, my designer happens to be a chatterbox xD
Entering: Downtown Carneval with ... Night and Day!
"My muses were the different lights while daytime changes, dawn and nightfall, as you will", designer Eliot Short explains. "Please imagine the surface of a frozen lake or a meadow covered in freshly fallen snow. Visit the place during night time and you won't see darkness, not black, but silvery white reflecting cold blue and dark purple, maybe even northern lights. Come back in the early morning and you will see the same snow, silver and white but this time kissed by a vibrant red sky and golden rays of sun. As you'll see, I linked my outfits again: Through contrasting makeup and contact lenses, through jewelry and accompanied by silver and white. Luckily, blue and yellow just happen to be complementary colors."
As Gwen Pinner and Carmella Delambre enter he smiles to himself. "I've always imagined night and day as gods of some kind. In my mind night has to be elegant, dramatic, kind in a slightly suspicious way, while day is a fighter without question, fierce and strong and boisterous. What do you think?"

No worries, I was just curious, take all the time you need <3

the contest is over! here are the scores:
Truffula's Scores
Fizbee says: 4/10
I'm gonna be straight (ha) with you: this... isn't pretty. The two colour palettes clash horribly. Each outfit is doable in its own right, like, okay, I can get into this, but standing next to each other they don't play nice in the slightest, and I could've used more detail on Vivian's outfit. But I do think each outfit is getting into its own groove there, and I kinda like it. They're really viable colour palettes, they just don't make that cohesive of a design paired together.
Magnus says: 6/10
This is clever. Mishmashed, but clever. I agree with Fizbee that these are not good bedfellows, but I think they're very interesting and there's something to be said for interesting. My main complaint, actually, is that the black unicorn doesn't feel tied in enough. The lion works, as it's more of a background, but I'd have liked to see either better posing or some other dark grey items on Vivian's outfit to tie it in. As it is it draws the eye away from the rest of the outfit instead of complimenting it.
Lotus says: 10/10
Goddamn. I love everything about this. The theme you chose is really cool, the art student/film student dichotomy and tie-ins are fantastic, and the lion & unicorn are like, another theme on top of the first theme that I really love? You hit it three for three my guy. And it's kinda ugly, which sounds like an insult but trust me I love it. (Is Jacob really wearing socks with sandals? On the runway? I love you.)
Total: 20/30 +5
Your total score is now 136. You are in 3rd place.
Flyingkat's Scores
Fizbee says: 7/10
It's cute, darling, but a little boring. I do like that you chose models that look like sisters, I must say I'm a sucker for the whole siblings in matching outfits thing. Also just matching outfits period. I can forgive a lot for a matching outfit. But I think you really would have benefitted from some accessories. They may be cute but they just look unfinished.
Magnus says: 6/10
I like this conceptually, but I feel like you could've carried it a little further. The dresses themselves don't need much more ornamentation, they're very detailed. But I would have liked something else to look at too, maybe some tights or necklaces or hair accessories. Something. I do like the matching shoes though, and I think Clara's hair is very well matched to her dress. However Kat's is a little too orange to coordinate, though her lipstick matches very well.
Lotus says: 7/10
I really like the fact that you used the same dress twice in different colours, that's kind of something I've been waiting for all competition. I also like the bow shoes. Other than that it's a little plain? I feel it could use some more dressing up. But I feel like it's a good solid start and a fine basis for a concept, I like that you decided to go with Christmas colours specifically to give them that extra tie-in to each other rather than just as opposite colours, and the flowery tops as a continued tie-in to Christmas.
Total: 20/30
Your total score is now 113. You are in 5th place.
everdear's Scores
Fizbee says: 10/10
This is beautiful! The glowing eyes caught my eye immediately. They're such a beautiful and dazzling effect! From there my eye travels to the dazzling makeup, and then the rest of the perfectly gilded outfits. They're both so detailed and interesting to look at. I love the colour palettes you've chosen too, they match each time of day wonderfully, and I love that you used silver in both. What a showstopper to end on -- this really blew me away!~
Magnus says: 10/10
I really feel like you captured the sun and moon perfectly. Both figures seem so tall and so otherworldly, like I'm really looking at a pair of gods. I love the draped look towards the bottom of both outfits, the short skirts underneath, the little star earrings, and obviously the eyes pulling both designs together and making them a pair. Your layering is expert; I'm in awe of all the little details there are to be uncovered every time I look at the designs.
Lotus says: 10/10
Sun/moon is a powerful theme, and I love that you doubled it up with silver/gold and warrior/rogue. They all alow for such vivid visual concepts, and you really delivered. I love how you used the gilding. Gwen looks draped in treasure, while Carmella is armored. And I can't get over the glowing eyes! They're so otherworldly. You really nailed the fantasy aesthetic.
Total: 30/30
Your total score is now 138. You are in 2nd place.
Rox's Scores
Fizbee says: 10/10
These are so so so pretty. I love that you used different shades of black and white as accent colours, it gives it interest while keeping in with the theme you've chosen. And you've matched them so well!~ The matching glowing earrings are a nice touch, too, and the fact that they're both looking up but in different directions. They're a perfect yin-yang!
Magnus says: 10/10
The sweeping elegance, the matching shapes, the matching flowers... you've put together a very beautiful design here. With all the vertical lines both figures seem so tall, which fits the concept perfectly. I love that you used flowers in both designs, and the subtle contrast of Charlay's wings pointing up while Rogan's point down. And I must say I'm fond of the little ruffed waistcoat Charlay's sporting. It gives a pssuedo-victorian look to the design, not to mention it's just cute.
Lotus says: 10/10
It's a pretty traditional idea, but I really like what you've done with it. It's polished, purposeful, and balanced, and fairly simple while having enough detail to be of interest. I like, like Fizbee said, that you used different shades of black and white to keep true to your design. Most people don't think of black and white as having shades, but you've matched them so well I can only assume it was on purpose ;)
Total: 30/30 +5
Your total score is now 135. You are in 3rd place.
Valiska's Scores
Fizbee says: 10/10
I'm obsessed with this. I love the colour schemes you've chosen, the matching sparkles around the eyes, the ruffles at the shoulder and train, the similar hairstyles. I love the similarities in the two colour palettes and how they're basically the light/dark versions of each other. The browns and greys with the gold accents are so classy! It really has the sophisticated, scholarly feel suited to two of the largest spheres of study, while still showing their playful sides. It's such a well-balanced and beautiful design.
Magnus says: 10/10
I adore the symbolism you've chosen to use here. In science I see layers of sedimintation or photos of jupiter, but it could also be a painting or sand art. In art I see filigree and the Italian renaissance, but it could also be geometric diagrams, and the renaissance birthed a lot of scientific advancements as well. It's genius, how well you've made them same but opposite, and I wish I could award higher than a ten. Not to mention you've kept the designs beautifully coordinated, as well as beautiful on their own, on top of all that.
Lotus says: 10/10
This is a really clever choice for a theme, and my favourite thing about it is I couldn't tell which was which at first, which ties in perfectly with the theme of the two as symbiotic. And I love that in addition to the whole art/science thing, Liana's outfit looks very nature-based while Benedetto's looks very man-made, as well as them fitting modern vs antique aesthetics. Not to mention the more obvious pale vs dark. It's masterful application of the theme and I'm not over it.
Total: 30/30 +5 Your total score is now 152. You are in 1st place. The people with the highest scores this round are Rox and Valiska! everdear also scored 30/30, just not the bonus 5. Congrats, all of you, on such beautiful designs.
Now, the contest is over, and the points stand thus:
1st place: with 152 points. 2nd place: with 138 points. 3rd place: with 136 points. 4th place: with 135 points. 5th place: with 113 points.
However! If it weren't for the round 5 extension, Truffula would have come in second place, and Rox would have come in third. Therefore I have decided to award a second place tie to both everdear and Truffula, and third place to Rox.
Reminder of how much you each won:
1st place (Valiska) : 10 mil or 125csc of wearables 2nd place (Truffula & everdear) : 7 mil of wearables 3rd place (Rox) : 4 mil of wearables 4th place (Flyingkat) : 1.5 mil of wearables
Please ping, smail, or comment me at your leisure to let me know what wearables you would like. You don't have to hit the values exactly, just aim for that ballpark. (Except for the CSC; I don't have more than 125 to spend. Also, you get black friday prices, you lucky duck. )
Thank you to all of you for participating! This was a fun contest, and I truly enjoyed seeing all of your designs. While it may be a while before the next season, I will be hosting smaller contests in the meantime in my forum group (link in signature.) Another hearty round of thanks to all of you! We hope you have fun, and we hope to see you in the future for the next season of... Fashion is a Passion!
