I just posted this over on the Obscure Suggestions thread, but given that thread seems involved with Items specifically I thought it couldn't hurt to cross post over here and see if anybody else would be interested in a Ren Faire idea.

We've got that lovely Peka Park sitting there all empty. Could we maybe have a Renaissance Faire that would set up once a month on a weekend? It could have several stalls offering Medieval inspired food, clothing, toys, weapons, decor, candles...essh, so many the things! Given that many Ren Faires have special, themed weekend events I could see that carrying over to this; Fairy Faire, Pirates Faire, Haunted Faire.

Could use it to bring some new games into the site. Perhaps a Jousting flash game? Some sort of Nine Men Morris game? This page lists all sorts of Medieval games.

It could even have a few of it's own special NPCs. The King and Queen of the Faire, different npc shopkeepers or even some of our regular and beloved npcs could put on garb and set up a booth for the weekend.

Yes, that would be awesome! Add a bit of Subetan history to the site :D

ETA item suggestions!

1) Clothing shop. Clothes are 12th/13th Century as interpreted by Hollywood Robin Hood and Pre-Raphaelite Arthurian. The clothing items could range from nobility to peasants with a suit of Lincoln Green for anyone who would like to be an outlaw.

Book shop. Titles adapted from real life medieval books and ranging from tales of knights&; quests to herbal remedies etc. Maybe some could be drawn in the style of the Voynich Manuscript which is sold in the Trading Card Center - partly open to show an illuminated letter.

Food shop selling medieval food which can&;t be found anywhere else on the site - a dish of frumenty, original mince pie which had meat in it, flagons of ale and wine, pottage etc. (Pease pottage could have three varieties - hot, cold and nine days old.)

Craft shop which also sells craft supplies. Items include embroidery supplies, fleeces, spindles and distaffs for hand spinning, tapestries which are wearable backdrops.

[There&;s lots of cool items that could come from this: all the stuff mentioned in OP is awesome! I&;d personally love to see some illuminated manuscript items: both books and backdrop wears. So many nice looking clothing items (Brooches! Heavy embroidery! Dagged sleeves! the list goes on!). I&;d also love gothic-style architecture items (miniature castle minion? background/foreground wears? books? ALL OF THE ABOVE?) and farming items (tools like plows, hoes, etc, and bags of seeds, animals??)

they/them/theirs, please.

I would seriously love something like this. When I was younger I went to a Renaissance Fair and it's still one of my fondest memories :)

At the very least I'd like to see some of the OP's suggestions integrated into Alegarten and Fireside. I'd prefer Peka Park to be used for different summer festival events instead of one weekend a month though.

I think this would be neat! All the different costumes, many different themes inspired by Subeta's own folklore as well! The food as mutton, mead, grog, roast pig or boar, ect. Not to mention the musical instruments such as lyres, lutes and the like. Plus other lovely items such as looms, weaves... and more.

Jesters and proclamations, knights riding majestic Legeica in full armor.... JOUSTING! Much more wonderful things you can find in such a place!

I don't think weekly would be realistic for themes, though. Monthly maybe, once/twice a year is most likely (bridge the gap in summer, yo). I love the idea, but the art would have to be updated each theme and that could get very stressful for staff if it's done more often, especially during the more prominent holiday months.

But imagine Mathis and Wesley in very skimpy warrior outfits. And then Victoria in some really amazing, historically accurate armor. Because reasons.

Oh yeah, weekly would be impossible, I thought perhaps once a month but I'd be glad to see quarterly as an option too.

Support, with modification.

Keelhauliday is a once a year thing, and I think it works well. So a one-time summer festival like Peka-Boo (Peka Boo IIU, the name of the sequel?), or a recurring one-week festival that happens around the Summer Solstice. We had some medieval costume trunks and some now-retired stuff, so there's a demand for this kinda thing I think.

And either twice a year or one weekend a month would be great - it makes sense for Peka Park to be rented out for something other than just Peka Boo ;)
