We recently got a report on an older item (the Gypsy Dress) that has been on the site for years, and its offensive and racist description. We agreed with everyone on the board that the description needed to be changed, but we don't want to stop there. Subeta just turned ten years old, that means it has ten years worth of items that seemed okay at the time, or didn't seem as offensive to the teenagers running the site. We feel like it's a good time to look back on the things that we've done over the years and question them, and make sure that we still stand by the content on the site.

Today we're renaming the Galactic Gypsies (the indigenous people of Atebus) to the Galactic Nomads and will be changing all of their items and references on the site to reflect that. We're going to be removing the word "gypsy" from the Subeta dictionary to distance Subeta from the real world that we all live in.

Name changing is something that is done on a case by case basis, and in this case we felt like it was an important change to make.

i said it on the previous thread but i'll say it here too: thank you for the change. i'll add that i think it's a great show of the maturity of the site and those who run it that you're willing to own up to you/your team's past decisions as poor ones, then move to rectify it. and i'm definitely impressed with how quickly the matter was addressed (that other thread is only a few hours old)

well done, i'm a fan of the new direction. "nomad" is better suited to subetan lore anyway.

Are you referring usershops? I think those fall under the bad word filter rules.

Even male genital is used for usernames and pet names. I saw the username ( male genital) here and was shocked
