Everything has shifted around and/or been placed in a new category and I feel like the meme of wandering in and not knowing where in the world I am. (Picture is just a section of, everything's off.)

Did I miss a post somewhere in the midst of having Covid about a forum shift?

I know Keith mentioned sometime this yesr that he wanted to merge and delete some forums but I don't think he ever said when he was going to do it.

As far as I know, there wasn’t any sort of warning about it being imminent or anything.

I vaguely remember that from earlier this year, but, Covid brain. A head's up would have been nice. XD

I wish they'd go back how they were. Lol This sudden change is making me anxious because I'm so used to the layout and now it keeps changing.

Trying not to be "that guy" but I don't like it xD I feel like they were organized really well already and now they keep moving and it doesn't make as much sense. I feel like an old lady waving her fist at the youths ahaha

Oh gosh oh gosh the adoption sub-forum just got merged into the pet forum. PLEASE NO.

I was beginning to think I'd missed something obvious, so I'm pleased it wasn't just me!

Really not a fan of the adoption subforum being in with the 'regular' pets one (so much harder to find relevant topics if it's all lumped in together), so I'm hoping this is just either a test, or accidental!

That's 100% how I feel about that, and about other things getting lumped in ways that remove some of the current sub-forums.

I swear last night before I went to bed I checked the forums for funsies and it was different than normal and I was like huh thats different now its even changed from that change ahhhhhh my muscle memory

definitely interesting to see what it ends up as, i do agree some things could be switched up since subeta has changed over the years when it comes to forum use

Really not a fan of the disappearance of the item hunt and quests subs on the games forum ;__; i think the threads got merged with the regular games forums threads? I hope the threads are still around - sometimes being able to post in those forums is my only motivation to do quests

I feel so lost D: this is like trying to navigate in the dark ;-;

i'm assuming a lot of this is just weird bugginess as things are being reorganized? but it looks like he's trying to merge the Pets, Battle, and HA forums into the General forum which is why they got their subforums wiped—because they're going to BECOME subforums? god i hope not. that's a bad idea. again, assuming this is all just a weird mistake / buggy transitional stage. uhh cuz if not i'll have some stern words 😤

if things are being moved, there should be a pinned post and explanation and direction

If anyone's curious, here's 's post from May about reorganizing the forums: Forum Squish; what's happening right now seems to match that plan. Also, the Subeta wiki has a page about the Forums that still has the original categories listed, if you want to see what forums/subforums have been merged.

I'm sure Keith will say something once it's finished? No idea.

I'm really not active in the forums and I definitely visit certain ones more than others. So far I hadn't noticed the changes but I really hope it doesn't end up that consolidated. Even if they gave us the forum search back it would be confusing to have things lumped together much more than they were before.

After reading Kieth's post I can understand the reasoning, however we can't organize the forums on our end so we have to rely on the SubetaTeam to do it. We can't subscribe to a thread until we find it and I don't want to have to have that many subscriptions. Especially when those can't be organized either.

If they insist on lumping thing together as much as it seems from Keith's post maybe we could get tags that the thread creator could add to the thread. That way we could sort threads by them if we are looking for something specific. It could be a small pool of them premade so it doesn't add as much to the load as letting everyone make their own.

Well if the Discord was cut off and only used during emergencies when the site goes down or something, it'd force everyone back to the forums naturally.

i don’t think it would—and i’ve seen this play out industry-wide. a lot of companies have tried cutting off discord (or similar live chat) because it’s not searchable and they don’t own the content. i went through this at my last job, and the hope was always that people would return to forums. spoiler: they didn’t.

personally, i’m much more of a forum person too, but let’s be real—if half my discords disappeared tomorrow, i’d probably just… move on, not head to forums for those groups :P

Fair enough, I probably wouldn't revisit the forums as much if the Discord got cut off. xD
