Currently there is no way to remove the border only to change it to another. It would be nice to be able to remove it completely please.

Hi Keith, thanks for responding. If I had to choose anything, it would be a very simple thin plain outline that doesn't encroach into the headshot area.

I would also like to have the option of no border or at least a very minimal/neutral/default sort of one. There are times where I don't feel like any of the existing borders really fit with the avatar/outfit that I'm using at the time, so I would just rather not use one or use a more unobtrusive one than be forced to pick something just because.

@ Keith can't it just default to a transparent image that takes up the same amount of space as borders are supposed to?

[edit] and also maybe some "plain" options like a solid black outline or something like that, for those who want some sort of border but nothing actually decorative

Would still prefer an off switch, especially for times when the headshot is repositioned to show something of interest on the avatar rather than distract from the image.

The transparent idea that Frenchi mentioned, is a nice idea. A range of different coloured thin unadorned circlets might be useful. They could blend in with the avatar outfits rather than standing out.

The reason I haven’t used a border yet is similar. I am not too keen on the big bulky ones as it takes a bit away from the headshot. I would most likely use the ones from the Quest-A-Thon as they seem the most real border-like that doesn’t quite take up space but unfortunately I was on hiatus in 2021 and was not able to get those. So instead I just prefer to use nothing.

I agree that it makes sense to add an off switch, given that we weren't all forced to start using them anyway and some people still have none selected. Since it's possible to exist on the site without one active, it feels a bit like a trap to start using them and be unable to go back to a plainer look.

I think a very simple, thin border (available to everyone without any unlock method beyond 'be online' or 'go to the border page' or something) could be an acceptable bandaid, but I think it would be more fair to either bump everyone who still hasn't selected one to that option too, or enable an off switch so we can all go with or without. I also think there's a certain appeal to having truly no border, matching the active pet circles.
