I would really love some open communication from staff about the second part of the quest-a-thon prizes, specifically the gold sparkle border.

The quest-a-thon ended in mid-July. Part one of prizes were distributed shortly afterwards on August 1st and we were informed that staff would "be working on the prize for the top 100 folks over the next few days".

Well, here we are over two months later with still no part two of prize distribution. The last official update from staff was 's post here on August 16th, which was a month and a half ago.

Was there a problem with the way results were recorded for the top 100, similar to how the prize for receiving the green sparkle border was messed up? Did I work my butt off questing during graduate school classes for nothing? People who are paying monthly to use this site would like to know...

If something was messed up, just fess up instead of keeping us in the dark. Otherwise, get these prizes out before the onslaught of holiday events. And please don't lock this because you don't want to hear feedback or prizes are coming "soon".

Agreed, It would be nice to have some sort of answer by now... I actually worked real hard on this event to try to get that gold border and be in top 100!

Please:

1. Tell us what's going on.
2. Do it before the holidays.
3. "Soon" (with no follow up) is not an answer.

just give the borders to everyone who did quests on 10 or more days and be done with it already. if the issue is that you can't distinguish between quests done during the time period and during the next idk week and a half afterwards (assuming my event saying "27 quests" really meant "27 days") then make the top 100 border a different color next time.

this has dragged on long enough and last time there were plenty of people who didn't do a quester or two and said they got the gold border, so the gap between ranks is huge anyway.

I'm assuming that since there was a problem with how the green border was awarded, there's a similar or worse problem going on with the golden one. I'm not angry with staff members or anything - coding's hard and missing one tiny detail can break a whole lot, I get that - but it still discourages me to read those comments from people who obviously worked very hard and sacrificed their time during the QAT, who purposely wanted to get that gold border, only to wind up with all that time and effort being basically wasted.

I hope they eventually get compensated; I hope I do too, even though frankly? Personally? I don't care anymore. I don't even use any of the borders except for floral. But the next time QAT rolls around, I'll remember this and think, yeeeeeaah no thanks, I'mma sit this one out. And this is coming from someone who does questing all the time anyway.

I don't have a stake in this since I got the gold border the first time around. But I do remember how stressed I was working at questing and making sure I didn't miss any. Then the waiting to find out if I qualified for it or not. My wait was short and it was still stressful.

I really feel for those going through this now. It needs to be resolved.

I was wondering about this myself; I don't need the border either, but the (yep.) lack of communication or updates...as Rakumel said, coding sucks, I do it and I know. But if you can't implement the reward, you can still communicate.

This border did change some questing behaviours (doing more or do less than usual) and people should see their efforts go somewhere.

I didn't quest much before, but I made sure I did every one for a border I won't use. I hate borders in fact and blocked them with CSS, but I also feel like I should collect as many as possible in case there's some kind of reward for having a bunch in the future.

I can't be the only one who put it in 110% for this stupid thing.

Honestly, it's disappointing to see so many things come late or seemingly gets forgotten about because we don't have enough Staff around anymore.

I got the gold border last year so I don't really have a horse in this race but the lack of communication and constant locking of threads about this has been extremely frustrating to see.

I understand that there was an issue tracking quests. Mistakes happen. I don't understand why it's taken months to "work on a solution". Given the circumstances, any solution will be less than ideal but something should be done already.

I personally think the best possible solution is to look at the top 100th score from last time and give the border to everyone who quested on enough days to reach it but at this point I wouldn't be mad if it just went to everyone just to get it out and a new exclusive border color came out next time instead

This is pretty much how I feel about the whole situation. Hand it out to everyone, next time make a new color for the top 100 (which tbh I felt they should’ve done anyway cuz myself and plenty of other people who already had the gold border didn’t care about QAT this time around cuz the top prize didn’t mean anything)

I did all of my quests every day during the QAT in hopes of getting the border, and I know I can't speak for everyone else, but at least personally for me I wouldn't really care at this point if it goes out to more people who "didn't do enough to earn it" or whatever, I just would like to see something be done.

It's been almost 3 months since the QAT ended, so can we please just get this settled already before staff become even busier with all of the events coming up?

Giving it to everyone who did at least 10 days or whatever, something like that, I don't really care. But anything would be better than just having a staff member pop in here to say "We're working on it, it's coming soon" and then another 3 months later we're making another thread like this again.

After close to three months since the end of the Quest-a-Thon, I would hope that staff actually has a solution for that kind of thing, especially since we had close to no issues in 2020.

I'm...puzzled by the time it's taking staff to find a way to resolve the issue. Seriously, that's not good.

If tracking is an issue now, is it going to be an issue during the winter gelatin war? Especially with Hydragellos and all. I'm seriously worried

I agree about how it's better to just admit you've made mistakes or can't do something as good as you thought you could rather than leave radio silence about it, and I'm not just talking about the border, I'm talking about other things that haven't come in time without a notice, or if there is a notice it's usually not until the last minute.

The thing is, unless we know what's going on behind the scenes, it feels like nothing is actually happening, we don't know unless you tell us. If it's personal reasons you'd rather not talk about, then just say that, we don't need all the details.

I missed the border last year, so this year, I painfully completed every single quest, Sarah included, all the days with a gold account. As someone who doesn't normally quest, my god was that horrible...

At this point, I'm assuming the "counting" error impacted the tally, but jeez y'all need to sort this out. It's been long enough. Just give the border to people who quested for 10-12 days or more.

Sure. You might get some folks who only did a month's worth of Shinwa quests, but come on already.

I'm assuming this problem and problems like this are why they are trying to hire a community manager. To be perfectly honest, I forgot all about there even being a second set of prizes. My mind is already just focused on holidays 😅 I hope things get answered quickly though but it really isn't fair to just keep everyone in the dark. I assume we're all capable of rational thought and can be forgiving for mistakes. I think really accountability is becoming the issue. You can be forgiven or even be giving understanding when you won't own up to it 🤷‍♀️

This is frustrating me as well. I worked incredibly hard during my husband's deployment to get the quests done for the border and it's really not on to just ignore the situation for nearly 3 months.

Like others, I wouldn't even care at this point if it was just given to everyone - mistakes happen and if it can't be worked out on the basis of the original requirements, then never mind - but for the situation to just not be mentioned at all feels like a complete let down.

Same. I did the quests daily, including Sarah and had an extra wiz in there. Was hoping this would have been resolved.

I'd rather be told things went wrong, the prizes can't be rewarded accordingly and find another way to make it up to everyone, than be silent about it.
