So you may or may not have noticed that I've been super scarce since November (I'm still wearing my half-finished Masq dancing outfit...oi). That is because I've had a phenomenal amount of change in my life in a very short amount of time, most of it positive. Some of it I knew was coming - my daughter celebrated her last holidays and birthday at home, graduated from high school and I moved her across the country for college. I only just returned from that trip and am feeling...lonely? A little sad, but also really excited for her. That also came with prom, her last band concert, her senior project, and all sorts of lasts. My son graduated from preschool and is preparing for Kindergarten!

And then there are the unexpected changes, such as my decision to end my contract with the school district that I have worked for for 7 years. I have been so very unhappy there the last 5 years and I've been praying for guidance in seeking something better elsewhere. That something better has come in the form of a teaching job 2,100 miles away on the East coast! I interviewed for several positions in one of the best districts in the nation and was offered two teaching positions in amazing schools. It was a difficult decision, but I chose a school and will be moving in 3 weeks! It comes with a $30,000 pay raise! My house is not even half packed, but it will get done...somehow. I gave notice in my current school and finished the school year knowing I was leaving, which was very emotional. I am a special ed. teacher, so I teach my students for years, not just 1 year at a time. But I helped interview for my replacement, set her up for next year, and said goodbye to my kids. My classroom is packed and I gave them the keys. It's done. Now I just have to finish packing my home, clean it, and rent it out until I'm ready to sell it next year.

And then there's also the motivating factor for why I chose the East coast, aside from quality of education for my son and for myself as a teacher (and better money!) - I will very likely be engaged in the next few months to my best friend! We're talking about houses and babies and honeymoons! It's crazy perfect, like nothing has a right to be. We've been friends for 8 years and I know him like the back of my hand and yet he has an effortless ability to surprise me.

SO. If I am absent a lot or scattered when present, now you know why! Thank you for your friendship and thank you for your patience with me. Thank you for the dances and flowers when I could barely even be online and thank you for the occasional odd gift letting me know that you're thinking about me. I have missed all of you very much! I will still be around, but I don't imagine that I'll be much on Subeta again until fall at the soonest. How to explain Subeta to my fiance-to-be... hm.....below, I am going to leave some thank you's to specific people who have been blessing me with thoughtful words, gifts, and acts of kindness. Some of you I never managed to get Lumi gifts out to last December thanks to all of this change. I have a list of missed people and totally intend to spoil the heck out of you next Lumi! <3

Thank you for all of the bouquets and the other odd gifts, hon. So many flowers! I never have enough flowers to get everything I need, let alone to make the bouquets, so thank you! hugs

Oh, congratulations on everything! As someone who also married their best friend, it's really good to hear that you're taking that step with someone you think the world of.

I also didn't know you taught special ed kids, but it shouldn't be surprising. You're one of the kindest people I know, it makes sense that you like making a difference and are willing to tackle complex challenges for it.

You have definitely been going through a lot!!! I know you will do well in your new job. I wish you and your hubby to be a very happy life!! As for explaining Subeta to him.....just have him join!!! The more the merrier!! I always try to remember my friends and if I haven't seen them online I tend to worry and hope they will let me know how they are doing. :) I am glad things are going so well for you!!!

Aww, thank you. I love what I do and I was starting to lose my passion, due to lack of support and high demands at work. I'm really excited to be starting fresh!

I look at life this way. I am not old. I am gracefully aged. My other favorite saying is Age is a state of mind, if you don't mind it doesn't matter. I am a kid at heart, always have been and always will be until the day I die. When people on here cut me down because of my age and playing on Subeta it doesn't bother me. I may be older but I still like having fun!!! :)

We moved.. late February/early March. Same type of situation, but nicer place. Going through a health scare with hubby though, so things aren't really pretty right now. Consuting with yet another doctor next month.

That's a fantastic way of looking at it. In my experience on Subeta, the people that stick around and form friendships on here tend to be at least in their mid-late twenties and I've known a few people in their '60's.
