The Hogwarts information boards are always chock full of messages, from extracurriculars reaching out to members to after-school tutoring offers to some regards towards more private matters. Though not as expansive as their counterparts in the common rooms, the outdoor information boards always seemed to have their own colorful displays. Today's outdoor boards, for instance, have an off-centered flier for a new workshop, complete with an enchanted sign-up sheet that would allow for easier keeping. The sheet explained that members would be separated into two teams: the White Abraxans and Black Abraxans. The main goal of the games is to capture as many of the opposing team's flags as possible. The images on the poster demonstrated the activities students would be partaking in. The first featured a wizard and witch engaging in a snow ball fight. In the second, the two students were on broomsticks catching something after flying through a tunnel of barrels. In the last, the wizard seemed to be trying to keep their balance on a plank while swinging at each other with pugil sticks.

As you finish reading the poster, she hands you a quill so you can sign up. "Welcome to the the Triwizard Style Games!" she exclaims."You can head over to Elise to get placed in a team."

Elise stood by a pile of boxes. Each box contained a ball. The color of the ball inside a member's box would determine what team they would be a part of. "Hi!" says Elise as you approach her. "Please wait until our announcement to open your box. You can chat amongst each other while we wait for the others to finish signing up."

Magnus arrived with great anticipation and signed his name. He waited to see if anyone he knew would be joining as he waved to Beth.

She turned to take a box and smiled at Elise. "I'm Poppy Blackwood. It's nice to meet you."

"Hi Beth ()!" Aria said with a smile, "I hope your day has been going well." Aria walked up to the information board and scanned the triwizard flyer. After looking it over and reading carefully about it she decided that she would see what they were all about. After Aria wrote her name on the board she took a step back, towards Elise, to allow other students to do the same.

Aria noticed her brother, Magnus (), standing near the sign up sheet with several of his friends. Before Aria could catch his attention and wave hello, Dax snuck up behind him and licked his hand with his sandpapery rough tongue. Dax looked simply overjoyed at his success and sat back on his haunches with pride.

Dax looked simply overjoyed at his success and sat back on his haunches with pride.

Magnus laughed at Dax and petted him. He reached in his bag and gave him a treat. "Ey, sis," Magnus said brightly. "You gonna join?"

Mac read the flyer with a sinking heart. It sounded like so much fun, but she had only had a few days of classes, and she hadn't learned to DO anything yet...not really. She was about to turn around and head back inside to practice her first lessons when she noticed Magnus. ( ) As usual, he was surrounded by his friends. Mac reckoned that Magnus could tell her if a brand new student could help their team, or just bring them down. She squared her skinny shoulders and walked over to the group of students. When there was a break in the conversation, she said, "Heya Magnus. How you? Do you reckon that I could play this? I mean, I've only had a few classes and I cain't do much yet, but it looks like a real good time, but I don't wanna mess it up for a team..." her voice trailed off. It was downright embarrassin to admit that she hardly knew nothin' in front of a group of strangers.

I wanted to talk to you there, but the timing was never good. Don't worry, most of this workshop is new to everyone except for the snowball fight, unless I'm missing something. You should sign up too," she said warmly as she scrawled her own name.

(OOC: I've been curious, do you watch American Horror Story? Your character brings the third season to my mind. 😊)

Paddy was pleased to finally have some spare time, and eagerly read the information boards in the hope of finding something interesting.... and you couldn't get more interesting than Triwizard Style Games! Saying a quick "hello" to Beth, she signed her name on the sheet, and wandered over to the small group of students who were standing by Elise.

Magnus smiled at Mac. "O'course," he said brightly, "'ow else you gonna learn? Everyone starts somewhere and we all are 'appy ta 'elp. You'll be fine." He put his hand on the younger girl's shoulder. "And if anyone gives you a 'ard time, I'll jinx 'em." He winked and smiled again--hoping to reassure her that she would be just fine. "See, Poppy says the same thing! Ey Poppy, 'aven't really 'ad a chance to greet you. I was kinda sick when we were at the workshop. 'Ave a nice oliday?"

"'Ey Paddy," Magnus said beckoning her over. "This ere is Mac, she's from the American south and a new Ravenclaw. Mac, this is me friend Paddy. She's in Gryffindor."

Trying to conceal her excitement she smiled broadly at her brother and walked over beside him. "I sure am planning on participating, you can't keep me out of a good competition!"

Aria overheard Mac talking to Magnus and after he comforted the new Ravenclaw she piped in with her own experience. "When I was new at Hogwarts it took a while for me to learn anything new as well." Aria offered a comforting smile and reached out to touch Mac's arm, "but don't worry it'll come! Just watch out for that crazy cat that my brother has, ok?" She said with a wink towards Magnus.

Aria waved at Paddy as she joined the group and watched as she signed up for the Triwizard games as well.

She watched Dax as he curled up near Elise, who still seemed to be unaware of his close proximity to her.

Magnus' Reply

"Oy," Magnus said with mock indigence, "me cat is just fine. Just because she steals your food in the morning ain't a problem. You need to be quicker on your toes." He stuck his tongue out at her and gave her a hip check followed by a nuggie.

Katsumi was quite excited for the competition, especially given the snowball fight and flying portions, from what she saw on the posters. And Capture the Flag was always fun. The last poster looked particularly interesting. She wondered how it would work. Surely they werne't just going to whack each other with sticks?!

After writing her name on the sheet, the Ravenclaw went to join Magnus and the others, waving to Mac in particular. "I'm sure it's somethign everyone can do," she assured the American transfer student. "After all, it's not the tournament itself. Just...imitation. And for fun."

Magnus slipped his hand around Kat's, squeezing it and smiling. "Don't think I'll go easy on ya, if we are on other teams," the boy said.

"Bring it," she replied, the corners of her mouth turning upwards, though him taking her hand made her blush. "I'd be disappointed if you didn't give me your best -- even if you are going to lose!"

"Well, if I do loose, I'll still 'ave me looks and animal Magnustism." The boy grinned using one of his favourite puns of his name. "But since I think I'm gonna trounce ya, I'll get ya a consolation prize."

Mm, there was something to be said for 'group' games. It wasn't necessarily all good but it certainly had potential. Now if people would not linger around he might be able to get somewhere. "Excuse me," he finally drawled in an almost bored tone as he brushed by a small group and took a box after nodding to the woman there. He'd already signed up of course and just maybe he was a tad bit nervous.

A boy brushed past Magnus and he moved back a bit, blushing and realising he was blocking the way. "Sorry," he said to the other boy.

"Hi Mac," Paddy said to the new Ravenclaw, giving her a friendly smile, "how're you settling in at Hogwarts?"

Realising they were standing in the way, she took a step back and glanced at the boy who just brushed past the group. "Whoops, sorry," she said, feeling the need to apologise given that he'd been polite and not just shoved his way through the group.

"I wonder how many more of us will be joining in," she said to no-one in particular, looking at the small group and trying to figure out how you could have a decent snowball fight with so few people.

"Quite all right," Maddox murmured, glancing around the small group, wondering if there was anyone he knew. At least by sight. Then again he had not been there long so it was doubtful. "I would not know," he stated to the girl who asked the question of- well, everyone he assumed. He knew he was probably standing a little too rigidly, perhaps standing on formalities a bit too much. "My name is Maddox Price."

She remembered meeting the students at Dueling Club a few terms ago. They both were very friendly, Magnus with the ladies in particular. Poppy chuckled to herself and wondered how the teams would be decided.
