Introduction 1.0
Another perfect day with perfect weather in your perfect little neighbourhood. The kids from next door are playing with the sprinkler and everybody seems to be enjoying the warm sunshine on this fine day. Even you are, except from the comfort of your computer. You even opened up the window so that you can enjoy a nice breeze. Everything should feel great, you think to yourself, clicking halfheartedly on the monsters you were grinding in game. However, things just seemed... too perfect? There was no conflict, no drama, no excitement. As flawless as the day was, it was also boring. But what could you do about it? It's not like you could transfer yourself into your game and fight these monsters yourself...
You take a big yawn as you walk out of your typical Monday evening class, still bored as ever of your perfectly normal life. For dinner tonight you figure you'll probably make yourself those "Luxury Instant Noodles" the local convenience store sells again. If those really were luxury noodles you'd hate to try the normal variety. Ah, and this was just Monday. You still had the whole week to get through. You hurry your pace before you make your mood go even more sour, until you stop in front of an intriguing bulletin board. You really hated advertisements or studies of any kind, but somehow this one caught your attention, and wasn't letting go.
New Campus Study Seeking Volunteers!
Like Video Games? Like fighting bosses? This study may be for you!
The Department of Psychology is conducting a study and analysis on the how the human mind reacts and manages within virtual reality over long periods of time, as well as how the physical mind and body experiences interactions with virtual characters within a game. Volunteers will be supervised and paid for their time!
Signups will be held at the end of the month in room 208 down the hall!
VR? Bah, nothing new. You didn't own your own VR console yet though. It'd be great to be face to face with a final boss! And, why not make a little extra cash doing so?
Introduction 2.0
Still, this was your first "study" and you didn't know what to do with yourself. A quick glance at your reflection on a glass made you think twice about your current attire, but you figured there was no turning around at this point and decided to grin and bear it. You sat down in one of the available desks and non-suspiciously and discreetly inspected the other students who were here. This study really drew in an assortment of characters.
"Ah, good evening, good evening! Glad to see all these new faces! Let me introduce myself, I'm Dr. Grouse! Pleasure to meet you all!
You turn to face the front of the room where an elderly man has just introduced himself. You've never seen him around on campus, and judging by his brittle state you figured he was more of an indoor man.
"Now, I think it's about time we jumped to the point. You're all here for the virtual reality study, yes? I hope you're as excited as I am for it. First, yes, you will all be put in a virtual reality setting. Not so much just putting on one of those cheap headsets, but more like your entire body will go into hibernation state and your mind will be free to roam the virtual world we've created. It doesn't have an open world, but we did add an avatar customization to it to make it more fun for you all."
The old man's face suddenly looked very stern. You didn't know a frail old man was capable of even looking so mean and serious.
"Let's all just get one thing straight: This study is to see how your minds fare in this virtual state. You will be tested and analyzed on a series of challengers we call "bosses" to see... well to see how your mind reacts, really! Please be serious about your choices. We don't want anybody here corrupting our data with nonsensical actions. Also, before I forget!"
He pulled out a stack of papers and handed everybody a booklet containing a few pages of very fine writing.
"Please read these over and fill out the information where you need to. Also, don't forget to initial page 3 and sign the last one!"
FAQ and Rules
Not only is this a survival RP, but the "players" on in this game will have between 3-4 choices to choose from at the beginning of a battle in an a,b,c fashion. There will always be one negative outcome from the bunch. The others can be positive or neutral. Think carefully about which action to choose.
(ex. a. Magic Attack b. Physical Attack c. Defense Position d. -)
These choices are kind of like guides to try and beat the boss. However, you can roleplay out the choices (just maybe with fancier writing skills) to fit the situation! Feel free to interact with others! A boss is easier to defeat with a plan rather than a bunch of 1 on 1 attacks!
You get to choose your own weapon for your VR experience! Please be mindful that your weapon of choice will have the same physics as other MMO weapons (ex. a staff would increase magic power, a bow is long ranged and fast, a mace is slow and heavy but hard-hitting.)
Rules:
Did it just say there's a possibility of death? You figure the warning was for those with a weak heart and body and ignore it for now. Ah, here's the interesting bit!

Adding you! ^_^ Sorry it's taken me a while; working overtime is slowly killing me.
Added a prize pool! There's not much stuff there right now, unfortunately. I'd like to have a nice mix of things in each so just be patient while I continue to add ^_^ I'd like a minimum of 5 characters to start the RP, so if you know anybody who might be into this poke them this way!
I'd like to join in on the fun here :) I'll be sure to make a profile soon (I'll edit it right in here sometime today)
Name: Lisa Ridgeby Age: 20 Gender: Female Appearance:
Personality: In real life she never really speaks unless necessary. She doesn't take care of her body as well as she should--she showers and shaves but doesn't style/cut her hair. She eats mostly healthy food for a person with a very hermit-like lifestyle. But within a video game Lisa can be described as a sassy, self-confident, and chatty gamer. She loves video games so much especially the immersive styled MMORPGs, as she feels more relaxed within the game than she does in real life. She doesn't care how people judge her within the game and that is what fuels her personality. She's not a leader of the pack but she likes to pretend to be.
History: Bullied throughout school through being excluded/ignored by her peers. She never really told anyone about it but being alone at school made her really depressed. She found an outlet eventually through her Nintendo handhelds which would keep her occupied for hours without end. They have been stolen in the past when she wasn't paying enough attention so she learned to find herself hiding spots to hide and play. Her household consists of just her and her mother, however her mother is never home and works almost 24/7 to pay for the bills. By highschool she no longer had the threat of bullying but the damage was already done and she was an outcast with no friends.
Other: (Optional) TBD
(Character Profile)
Nickname: Reliza
Gender: Female
Accessory: The horns are simply a removable decoration but the tail is apart of her character's body and will move according to her feelings/emotions, the tail has a leather-like texture. The end of the tail can also "spike out" when feeling angry/aggressive. Her tail is usually wrapped around her waist like a belt
Appearance:
Weapon:A spear. Its as tall as she is and is detachable at the center so that she can carry half and half on her hips or dual wield it.
Preferred Element: Electricity
Still working on it, if you'd like I am also more than willing to remove either the horns or tail. I made this character inspired by this image
Great to see you having an interest in this rp! ^_^ I'll be adding you to the list!
- I'm hoping to have one more person in on this rp. After that, we'll be off! Make sure you guys have your characters ready ;)
This seems pretty cool, by looking at your last survival game!
Ben Lief/Paladin Raylen
Human skelly: Name: Ben Lief Age: 18 Gender: Male Appearance: Ben stands at a below-average 5'8", with a relatively lean body and an olive skin tone. A mop of thick raven black hair sits atop his head, slightly spiked and fluffed towards the front. His eyes bear a deep hazel, although they're a bit bloodshot from lack of sleep. Around his neck is a thin gold chain that ends in a Buddha pendant, marking his religion. He wears a leather jacket over a simple black "Hurley" T-shirt, and owns a pair of jeans that are slightly too long for him that are rolled up at the cuff. Personality: Despite his constant lack of sleep, Ben is usually energetic and punchy. He sits somewhere between being an optimist and a realist, but it's not exactly apparent what it is at times. His slightly sheltered life style has left him a bit soft so far, but anything beyond that he can handle. His asthma stops him from doing any rigorous activities, so he usually enjoys just staying home and playing video games. History: Ben has lived a pretty normal life. His mother and father are seperated, but thankfully their divorce was a calm one. He lives with his particularly old father and helps around the house. He went to a tech school from middle school and into his high school years. He had a deep stage of depression in his freshman year as his grades began to drop and his video games were his only solace. With the help of counseling and time, he got through that chapter of his life. Other: Does fencing and plays the guitar. Loves red pandas.
Character skelly: Nickname: Paladin Raylen Gender: Male Accessory: None Appearance: When Ben is Raylen, he stands at a greater height of 5'11", with an athletic body structure and only a slightly tanned shade of skin. His hazel eyes and thick black hair remain, but it's shorter cut and swept off to the right. His face is still young and shaved, although a lot more confidence is present in it, bearing a charming smile and an assertive gaze. He wears a suit of shining half-plate armor, embellished with gold and engravings. Padding is worn under this, giving him comfort while still being protected. Weapon: Sword and shield Preferred Element: Holy
Matthew Riel/Revon
Human skelly: Name: Matthew Riel Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Matthew stands at 5'9", with a pale skin tone and a slender, almost lithe body. Kept, short-cut light brown hair sits atop his head, with only a few hairs out of place. His piercing emerald green eyes are relatively dim from the amount of stress put on him, but they are still observant nonetheless. He wears a grey zip-up hoodie over a green T-shirt, along with a pair of blue jeans and green tennis shoes. Personality: Matthew is quiet and observant most of the time, however he is never afraid to speak his mind. Matthew tries to be an optimist most of the time, but his words usually come out stuttered and easily misinterpreted. His cushy life style should have left him soft, but his underlying rebellious attitude has allowed him to learn how to take care of himself. History: Matthew was born to a rich family, and was raised by his strict single father after his mother died when he was still very young. As Matthew grew, he began to detest his home tutoring more and more, and eventually convinced his father to move him to a private school. Matthew made a few friends there, but he never really grew close to them. He eventually began to take more time out of his house and either exploring the downtown area, or playing video games in his room. Other: Has never had a pet. Hates snakes.
Character skelly: Nickname: Revon Gender: Male Accessory: Horns Appearance: Much is the same between Revon and Matthew. They both stand at 5'9", have same skin tone, and share the same slim body structure. Revon, however, has messy silver-white hair, his bangs reaching just above his eyebrows and very easily over his ears. Relatively short, black horns sprout from his forehead, through his shaggy hair. Deep blue eyes peer out from their sockets, without a single sign of stress or distraction. Revon is mostly topless and wears a pair of sturdy black trousers and sandal-like shoes. A single steel pauldron is strapped to his right shoulder, along with steel gauntlets covering his left and right hands and forearms. A black tribal-like tattoo covers his left shoulder. Steel greaves are also worn on his lower legs, and a tasset belt is worn to protect his thighs. A large black steel scythe is strapped to his back, its blade covered in tiny ice crystals. Weapon: Scythe Preferred Element: Ice

Great! :D I'll be adding you to the list! And now it seems that we have enough people to have a lasting game~
I still need your complete character forms. Once everything is done, we'll be on our way, everyone!
sorry Grish! I have to go to work but I'll get to finishing it when I get home! Thanks for being patient with me :)

After collecting all the documents, Dr. Grouse excitedly flipped through the applications with his eyes lighting up in eagerness over and over as he read each individual one. "Very good, everyone! I will be contacting you shortly so you can all come to the lab and dive into the world of virtual reality!"
--
Another bland week passed by as you sat in a dull state in your classroom, pondering on in college was even worth it. Class was dragging on to a point where it felt like time had altogether stopped. It took you a moment too long to realize that your cell phone was vibrating, but suddenly your dull thoughts were replaced with vivid ones when you noticed the caller ID. And now, time stopped but for a different reason. You had wild, fantastic beasts to slay!
And then a time leap. The moments around how you got to the lab were hazy, but you were here. Must've been one hell of an adrenaline rush.
"Ah, glad you made it! Have a lie down in one of our VR beds. There's a few of you already set up, so go ahead and join them. I'll explain more once you all get used to your surroundings and feel comfortable. It takes time to configure and re-calibrate your natural movements in virtual reality, especially if your avatar has a different body size and shape than your current one.
I've went ahead and set up a few punchbags in the 'lounge room' I call it, so that you all have something to do once your in there. Talk among yourselves too. Teamwork may be important!" Dr. Grouse gave a wink and an awkward chuckle before you nestled yourself in the VR bed.
As soon as your body relaxed enough for you to close your eyes, a stream of lights right before your eyes jutted you awake, but your body couldn't move, nor could you open your eyes. And yet, you could see these jets of light terrifyingly crystal clear. How thrilling, yet nauseous, it was to get fully sucked into a virtual space. Instead of trying to wake yourself, you instead shut your eyes until your stomach settles a little more before you open them.
And just like that, you don't feel your external body anymore. You look down and see a completely new set of hands, legs, feet. You take a look at your surroundings. Yep, definitely virtual. Although the doc did well on the customization, the world itself was a horizon of flatness, the ground a monochromatic checkerboard. You turn around; well at least he provided a Sim-like lounge area for you all, punchbags included. A look of what you think is awe, your muscles feels weird so you are unsure of what expression you're exactly doing, comes over your face as you see a few others. Well, I guess it's time to get used to this new body!
Your first boss encounter starts SUNDAY (i.e. your first in-game choice.) Until then, feel free to roleplay with the other players and get to know them! You might end up needing to cooperate~
Amarosa (Ama) didn't speak to anyone at first, instead going over to the punching bags and beginning to punch them incessantly. This was going to be a lot of fun, and she wouldn't mind making some new friends, but for now they were just strangers and she couldn't really trust them. Punch one two three, she kept to herself, hoping someone would approach her and help her spar.

Raylen lurched foward, slightly startled by the sudden change, but managed to catch himself before he made a fool of himself. He looked down at his hands and flexed his fingers, making sure that this was all still real. And it was. Unused to the sudden addition of three inches to his height, he took a few tests, pacing four feet forward and four feet back. Needless to say, it was a bit awkward at first but he quickly got used to it. A grin spread across Raylen's face as he realized the constant very faint, dull pain in his chest was gone, and he felt entirety rested.
Raylen began looking around at his companions. There was a white-haired boy with a scar across his left eye in a tank top with a pair of batons at his side, as well as another boy with white hair who didn't seem to have a shirt for some reason. A woman in high-heeled boots and had a wicked tail wasn't doing anything at the moment, along with a small boy in a cyan jacket. Finally it came to a dark-skinned woman who was already wailing on the punching bags the doc had promised. Raylen finally noticed the sword at his side and the shield on his back and pulled them out. The shield was a large heater made of shiny steel and gold embellishments similar to his armor, while his sword was particularly long, the blade being at least four feet in length, while still being surprisingly balanced in his hands. He gave it a few test swings to make sure he was familiar with it before going into battle. He sheathed his sword and shield and walked over to the punching bags.
Raylen examined the bags of what he assumed was filled with sand. They looked much more pristine than any punching bags he'd ever seen. The paladin shrugged and gave it a soft punch just to make sure he even knew how to punch with his new body. Once he was sure, he gave it a much harder punch, knocking it further back than he thought he ever could. A smile once again crossed his face as he recognized his newfound strength. He gave the bag a few more quicker, slightly softer punches and a few kicks he learned from about two years worth of Muay Thai he took when he was ten. Once he was certain he could mostly control his new body, he confidently sauntered over to the dark-skinned woman.
"Hey, you up for testing these new bodies out?" Raylen said with a smile, his hand placed on his waist.

Revon was taken aback as he opened his eyes. As far as he could see there was nothing but a checkered landscape. Turning around he found a tall young man pacing back and forth for no reason. Looking down at his own body, he found a familiar sight of his same old body. Looking around once more, he began to run his hand through his much longer hair, but his finger eventually bumped against an unfamiliar body part. He traced the base of his horns and attempted to look up at them, to no avail. The young man sighed and decided to stretch his muscles. It felt like he was asleep for a long time, as his muscles felt very stiff as he worked out the kinks in his neck and wrists. The white-haired boy began jogging in place and shaking his arms to get the last of the stiffness out of his body.
A strange weight put Revon off balance, and he reached back to grab at the crooked staff-like weapon behind him. The steel was cold to the touch as the scythe easily came out of whatever kept the magic farming tool in place. The weapon had a simple design, with only a few engravings on the scythe's blade, most of which were coated over with a thin layer of frost. With a single eyebrow raised and a smile across his face, the young man returned the weapon to his back. With that, he decided to make his way over to the punching bags, rudly disregarding the others, albeit not on purpose.
Revon never worked with punching bags before, so he expected them to be cushiony. The naïve boy took a hard swing at it just to instantly recoil back, more from surprise than of pain. He held his hand, although it didn't hurt all that much. He quickly recuperated, giving it another good punch, to which the bag shuddered a tad bit, as it should. It didn't seem that Revon gained any more strength than he'd usually have, but as he striked the training equipment more and more, he became faster and faster. As he finished wailing on the bags, he turned around to face the others. The young man in the shining steel armor seemed to be challenging the weird cat-like woman to a sparring match, but no one else was really doing anything at the moment.
"Uh... So... How's everyone's day been?" Revon asked aloud, an awkward, lopsided smile on his face.

Savage took a minute to adjust to the new reality, a rendered lounge that he had just spawned into. It felt a bit dream-like and surreal. The young man needed a minute to let his brain catch up. He gazed down at his hands. One of them was coated in a skeletal design, a purely aesthetic feature, to customize his character. No. Him. He was Savage. Savage. It was a nickname given to him due his real surname. Savage. Savage had pitch black eyes with an eerie white pupil. It was very void and cold, the complete opposite of his personality. Of course, he couldn't see his eyes, but he knew how they look. He designed the character, after all. He was also sure he had a scar. Again, he couldn't see it, but he knew it was there. Hopefully, people wouldn't be intimidated by it. Sheathed on his backside were two rod-like weapons. A pair of electric escrima sticks. He pulled them out, gripping them tightly, and lunged forward with a few practice swings at the air. He was trying to get a feel for his new body. He felt his movement and his muscles, but at the same time, it was an indescribeable sensation. He was in control, but there was no connection. He could feel everything, but it also just felt like a very lucid dream. It was weird, but maybe he just needed time to adjust.
He pushed the sticks back into the sheaths strapped to his back and began surveying the rest of the room. The lounge, itself, was very basic and overall, everything was very flat-looking. The only thing of interest were the punching bags. And of course, the people. His attention spilled towards another young man, topless, also with white hair like his own, and a lightly frost-covered scythe. ()
The guy had asked how everyone was doing, but Savage totally ignored the question initially. He just got excited at seeing the scythe. He was kind of fascinated by weapons. "That is so cool," Savage remarked, slightly trying to mask his Italian accent. He did not hesitate at all to move in close to the other guy, maybe a little too close. There was only about a foot between them. "Is it heavy?," he asked, eyes admiring the scythe. He then turned away to note the other weapons wielded by the others in the room.
He quickly took notice of a horned female with two spears? No, a pair of half spears. He was about to comment on how cool they looked, but his eyes got distracted by a knight-like character. He carried the classic sword and shield. There was something holy and majestic about them. The man was literally a knight in shining armor. Savage shook off the awe and returned his eyes the original half-naked male with the scythe. "I'm G-," he paused and then corrected himself. "I'm Savage. Hi," he smiled and held out his hand for a handshake. He realized how close it was and took a step backward, extending out his arm with a grin. To be honest, partially, he just wanted to see what touching another character would feel like.

Raylen is still holding the same awkward position, as his right eyebrow slightly raises, still waiting for a response.

As he scanned the horizon for anything besides black and white checkerboarding, Revon's eyes shifted to the young white haired man approaching him. The boy seemed slightly older than Revon, and his eyes were unsettling, although his expression was more pleasant than intimidating. The tattooed boy gave a smile, but noticed the stranger's eyes were less fixated on Revon, and more on the weapon on his back. The guy was getting just a bit too close for Revon's liking, so the young man just slightly leaned back a bit.
"Oh, ah... Thanks." Revon responded to the baton-wielding man's compliment, "It's a bit off-balancing, but it's not too heavy I suppose. Thankfully the doctor made it that way." Revon examined the face of the man standing a foot in front of him closer. He wasn't nervous about a random stranger standing this close, although it didn't exactly help that said stranger's eyes were hollow and soulless, with a large scar going over one of them. As he inspected the other white-haired guy's face, he noticed he was looking at the others. Revon turned his head to also look at his soon-to-be companions, although a couple of them haven't moved ( ). The boy frowned, but at this point the stranger had backed off and gave him some breathing room.
Revon relaxed and shook Savage's hand, "H-hey. I'm Revon. Nice to meet you." Contact with another player was strange. It was as if they were just a hair's width from touching each other, but it wasn't quite there. He could still feel the warmth of the contact, although no real feeling or passion was present in it. It wasn't empty by any means, but it was just 95% of the way to feeling real. The topless young man thought about how pain would feel in this whole new world.

Itachi was no stranger to VR as he uses it when he works with developers on new games being tested. Although these beds were more high tech than the ones he's seen or used. He laid on the bed, feeling comfortable and very secure as if he could lay here forever. Then the machine buzzed around him and in seconds his eyes were closed.
Opening his eyes next, he was in a building facing a window that looked out into a void of checkered flooring. Wondering what the world had in store for them when it generated, when they finally went outside of the small building they were in. As if the system knew who is was some words and numbers started to pop up in his field of vision(FOV). His name and HP were generated in the top right-hand corner. He found this a familiar feature with these games. Itachi then felt a pair of glowing golden wings form on his back adding light to the building. Then with the flick of his hand, his staff appeared from thin air landing in his hand. Grasping the goldenrod with a purple crystal at the top, it pulsated with energy as soon as Itachi touched it. He then began to float into the air.
He then turned around to face all those who were in the building with him. The first person he sees is a woman with a whip to her side punching the punching bags away. Then next to her was a typical knight figure in white and carrying a sword and shield on him, Itachi shook his head thinking of his past experiences with these players, but maybe this one was different.
Itachi's eyes then surveyed to the other side of the room. Standing next to each other were the only two people with white hair. 'What a coincidence' Itachi thought to himself. The one with no shirt asked everyone something but, Itachi didn't feel like yelling across the room. He started to float closer to them, still analyzing the situation. The closer he got to the others there names started to pop up on the left-hand side of his FOV. At the top read nearby players. Slowing his pace he swiped his hand over the name 'Savage' and a headshot came up of the player, swiping it away, he then continued down the list putting names to faces.
Savage seemed very flirtatious towards Revon, standing a little too close for comfort to him and what seemed as if Savage was staring intently at the man. But, the closer Itachi got to the two of them, he heard them talking about the scythe on Revon's back. Now standing next to them he replied to Revon's question, "My day is better now that I'm in a Virtual Reality with you and others, thanks for asking Re-von." articulating his name and trying not to be so forward while batting is eyes. "My name is Itachi, but you should know that due to the menu on your left." gesturing to Revon's left side. "How are you doing today?" then turning to Savage, "and you must be Savage. How are you doing?"
