(( First battle is about to begin! There's still time to register, so if you guys know anybody who might be interested, tell them it's not too late ;) ))

With a mild 'beep,' suddenly the lounge room and punching bags disappeared and out on the nearby horizon appeared a large, round building. The closest thing you could think of to what it would resemble in real life would be an area, or the coliseum. And you bet that that's where the boss battle wa-

"Ahem, ladies and gentlemen!" a loud voice echoed through the landscape, "This is Dr. Grouse! Have you all met each other yet? I sure hope so!"

"Our machines are telling us you've all finished calibrating your bodies, so I'd like to direct your gaze over to that building in the distance. That there is the first the first boss building where you will all be facing the first boss."

Yep, just as you thought. You take a moment to wonder why so little was done with the virtual world and so much had been put into customizing your character. Surely for a mere study you wouldn't go so far with the customizing part?

"Apologies for the bland look, all that we really had time for was to add a little bit of character customization. Anyways, let's all start to head over there and I will explain the boss, and yourselves, a little more."

"We call this boss The Hare. He's an average boss with average distribution towards his statistics. Not too strong in one area versus another. Basically, this guy is your 'tutorial.' He should be just tough enough for you to pass. That being said, I wouldn't go straight into punching the daylights out of him."

The doctor let out a little giddy snicker. You wonder if he found this amusing to watch.

"Now about yourselves. As unfortunate as this sounds, we couldn't give you all elite armor or enormous strength; that would defeat the purpose of our study. We need this to be somewhat realistic. That's why our computer calculated your stats on your weapon and element choices. Open up your menus to see your strengths and weaknesses."

"That's about all I can help you with. It's up to you to find a strategy and win these boss battles. Good luck!"

As soon as the doctor stopped talking, the world fell eerily silent and you entered the enormous building. You didn't realize how little noise your feet made until now. A platform stood before you that led to the top of the building. Once up there, you gazed down on your opponent - a massive rabbit. And it looks like this wasn't his first battle either. Thankfully it seemed he had some sort of field barrier and was only limited to moving on the ground floor. In fact, this building was very much like an amphitheatre. You give everyone a gaze while butterflies start mingling in your stomach - what an odd sensation in virtual reality. You try and shake it off by pulling up your Stat Screen.

Well, now you kind of know what you can and can't do. You study the beast below.

This shouldn't be too hard, especially if you coordinate your attacks. But, what should be your first move? You're still somewhat nervous, and the thought of how unpleasant a blow from a large boss like him would be doesn't ease your mind either. You turn once again to your battle mates and wonder if it's worth talking about. What to do?

You have the following choices: A. Quick attack him from the side. B. Go into a defensive position. C. Run and let him follow you. D. Do nothing and sit this one out.

Amarosa was just about to respond to someone that was talking to her, when she was interrupted by a voice. She could feel adrenaline pulse through her veins, and the thought of facing a boss already was about as surprising as she could imagine. Why not a few short battles with weak opponents like rats or slugs? Isn't that what most other games did? She shrugged to herself and looked upon the boss. It was a rabbit, huge and scarred, and staring down at them. Curious, she checked out her stats. Speed was her highest stat, and once she saw that, she knew exactly what to do.

She turned toward her team mates, and nodded. "Right, well I'm really fast. Also I have a bit of ranged attack, so why don't I run a distraction? Make him chase me around?"

(( So sorry to rush you! Take as much time as you need taking care of yourself, and don't worry about us))

Just as Raylen was ready to put up his dukes up to test out his strength against the girl who just opened her mouth, they were each transported ouside a large, concaved building. His eyes widened, seeing the realism of it all. It wasn't quite like the Colosseum in Rome, but it was very close. It seemed a much simpler and bland than the one in real life, but nonetheless it was still amazing. As he walked with the others up to the top level of the Colosseum, Raylen checked his stats. He looked over his allies' shoulders and noted that a couple others had higher stats than he did, two of them having two high scores and one average, whereas Raylen had one high score and two averages. Despite this slight disadvantage, the paladin simply shrugged. It was the usual stats for a tank, he supposed.

Raylen thought it was a bit strange to encounter a boss so early on in an RPG, although it wouldn't be the first time there was a boss-only game. Once they reached the top of the virtual structure, Raylen looked down at their first challenge. It was a giant rabid bunny. It'd be lying to say that Raylen's heart beat increased at all. The doc did say that this would be the tutorial fight for each of them. He checked the Rabbit's stats. His attack was average while Raylen's defense was high. He might be able to tank one or two hits from the giant rodent before getting hurt too bad.

Raylen turned to the rest of the group. The girl he was going to spar with was suggesting that she took its attention while the others hit it. The holy knight nodded at the idea, although how long could she keep his aggro? "I could possibly tank a hit or two before he really hurts me. Then we might be able to chain off of each other taking his aggro." Raylen suggested. As a paladin-like character, he assumed he might be able to heal small amounts of damage.

Revon once again leaned a bit away from the mage floating a bit too close to him (), except this time he was blushing just slightly due to the compliment. 'Why is everyone getting so close to me?' The young shirtless man thought to himself. "I-I'm-" Revon began, but before he knew it, his vision changed to a view a huge, round building off in the distance. He took a slight step back to view the building even better from a distance, but also to get some breathing room once again. Without a word, the woman who was beating on the punching bags started walking towards the arena, along with the knight in shining armor. Glancing at the other two boys in front of him (), he then followed in suit with the others.

The Arena wasn't as far away as it seemed. It only took about 3 minutes of walking for the group to get there, but it was even bigger up close. Revon could only imagine what beast lied inside. Checking his stats, Revon noticed he was pretty fast, but apparently his scythe didn't have that high of reach, but that was understandable. He would be holding it pretty close to the blade in order to actually use it effectively anyways. Putting the thought off to the side for later, he looked down to their opponent. Revon wasn't sure if he was ever more afraid of a rabbit than he was now. The Hare bore many slash marks and a few arrows sticking out of it, along with a pair of sharp, buckteeth. Cautiously taking his gaze off the robust rodent, he looked to his allies.

The woman with the whip was talking about kiting the thing around as the others hit it, while the man with black hair suggested that he tanked the damage while they took it out. Albeit, Revon was more inclined to the woman's idea, he waited for the others to speak as he examined the boss. Off in the distance, the tailed woman with a spear still hasn't shown much signs of life ().

"That would be $28.50" she droned. Working a day job was the part of her life she liked the least but she did it just so that she could pay her bills for the month. The workday went on for what felt like an eternity because what was to come after was all of her dreams and desires. An escape from this dreadful planet she thought to her self with a small smile. She wondered how long more the day would drag on for before she could pray that the bus wouldn't drive too slow on her way home. Lisa had better things to do in a different world. She knew she would be arriving late and she would miss the introduction to her fellow companions but she didn't mind. She was afraid to interact with them in real life but within a game she felt like she could be anyone she wanted to be.
By the time Lisa arrived it seemed like everyone was already ahead and playing without her. She felt a little envious that they could all make it in time to start but it didn't matter, she was ready to leave her past behind and start anew. She decided she would try and make a grand entrance upon arrival but her stomach made her feel nervous and she was worried she wouldn't be able to pull it off. Laying on the bed Lisa took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

Not spending much time calibrating Reliza found herself a little bit behind what seemed to be a group of players. She could see a rabbit in front of them. a boss, cool. Opening her stat screen she did a quick check of her stats, Not too bad of stats to start, I think a more defensive build will help the group out. She wondered how she would make her grand appearance. She decided to wait and see what the rabbits first move would be as well as the team. If I did something now, I might trip and fall. I haven't gotten used to this body yet so lets see what happens first she held her spear to the side leaning with a smile on her face her tail tip flicked side to side.
Reliza had no control over her tail but the VR system seemed to read her mood and reacted in the most appropriate matter that it suited.

A buzz came on and you knew that was probably the doctor again coming to explain your stats a bit more. Honestly, how could he expect you all to get these things and fight a boss right off the bat? Even if this one was the "tutorial" boss, he could have prepped you guys more.

"Ah, h-hello." A quiet female voice chirped in your ears and a puzzled look came across your face.

"I-I'm one of the doctor's assistants. Came a little late, s-sorry. And sorry about Dr. Grouse. He likes to rush into things a bit. Well I shouldn't say he likes to, but uh, he's got a lot of things on his plate right now? You'll understand later on in this game. I-I mean uh, study. Hopefully you'll all make it that far, anyway.

I'll explain to you how those stats you're seeing work.

Attack: Think about this in terms of firing a gun. Slow attack is more like a firing a bazooka while a fast attack rate is like a hand gun. Average would be something like a shotgun? Defense: For anybody who has a low defense stat, you can take one hit max, so, uh, be weary, okay! That means in one choice round of this game, you'd lose a life. High defense people can last 3 rounds like this, and average 2. Speed: Low speed equals normal human running speed, high speed equals electric scooter! You guys know what those are, right? Uhh, nevermind, you just go really fast. Not as fast as a car though. Range: Low range means you need to be within 15 feet, average 50, and high about 100! Mana: It means magic, really. Low is 1 round, average is 2 rounds, and high is 3 rounds. Your elemental type affects this more, so when you start encounters bosses with their own element, think about how yours would affect them.

You'll fully recover after each boss is defeated, so just try not to lose too many lives unless you really want to 'take one for the team.' Good luck!"

Has a lot on his plate? To you it looked like this study was his number one priority. Wasn't it? Curious, you look at your stats again with this new information to form a better strategy.

The area which Itachi was standing was now outside an arena. "This is more like it!" Itachi hollered. As he walked to the arena he was taking everything in about the world and how things are just thrown together. He listened to the information about the rabbit, thinking he could just set the rabbit on fire with his staff. He then walked into the arena. Then was taken back by the woman's voice telling him about the stats he had been given, which weren't the best but he would have to deal with them. He then spoke to the group, "I think I can fly high in the air and attack him from his side with my fireballs." He hoped something like this would work.

"Well, ain't he adorable," Savage commented with a grin, very genuine-sounding and without a trace of sarcasm. He folded his arms across his chest as he studied the hare below. After Itachi spoke, Savage nodded. "As it's chasing...," he paused for a second to look over to the female with the whip. He didn't quite catch her name earlier and needed a reminder. He read the name that hovered in the air to the left of his vision. "As it's chasing Amarosa, which I'm sure a lot of guys do," he smiled in her direction and continued, "I can keep up and make quick hits from the sides, too," he said as he pulled out his electrical sticks. A crackle of electricity could be heard as the weapons activated and became illuminated. Savage wasn't too worried about running alongside the hare. He was swift enough to evade any attacks should the boss turn his attention to him.

Raylen gave a slight laugh at Savage's comment, but as he did a thought came to mind and he furrowed his brow. He had no doubt that Amarosa could outrun the boss, but one false step could lose her one of her lives, due to her low defense. This decision to allow her to distract the beast would be very awkward for Raylen as well, as he wouldn't be quite fast enough to keep up with the rest of them. Once the others were done talking, the paladin decided to once again put in his two-cents. "I have a high defense stat. I could very well tank the rabbit's attacks to start with. That seems to be the best course of action in my opinion, as it doesn't risk one of Amarosa's lives if something bad happens. Plus, I won't be much of use anyways if I were to try and keep up." With that, the holy knight brandished his shield. "I'm sure I'd be fine for an attack or two."

Revon stood silently as the others discussed the plan. He went to stick his hands into the pockets of his pants, only to find the cool touch of a steel tasset. Frowning, he simply allowed his hands to drop and rest at his sides. Looking back to the group, he decided to speak up after the knight in shining armor was finished speaking. "I could attack from the side as well. I should be quick enough to get a few hits in while it's distracted with either Raylen or Amarosa." He unsheathed his scythe from his back and hefted it in his hands. Although no one looked worried, it seemed that if the group didn't decide on a final decision soon, they may be too late.

Raylen - B

Raylen's eyes darted to the beast and back to the others, waiting for a response. Their time was nearly up. Shaking his head, he put up his shield and awaited the Hare's attack, hoping to distract it from the others if it chose to attack them.

Revon - A

Revon's heart beat quickened as the field barrier seemed to weaken. "Uh... guys?" He said timidly. Clenching his teeth, he grasped his scythe tightly, ready to attack the beast from the side once it gets distracted by one of the others.

(( Interesting results! Everybody survived this time, but it was close ;) ))

Bzzzzt! An alarm sounded and before you knew it, you were pulled through the barrier and face to face with a giant, angry rabbit. You felt a sudden emptiness in your chest that you could only somewhat describe as a virtual skip of a heartbeat as you stared at the mass of grizzly fur before you. Only the loud roar of the rabbit, which sounded more like a lion's than a hare's, snapped you out of your daze. Right, you had to act now before The Hare did! What was the plan again?

Was Amarosa just out of his aggro range, or was the boss.... learning? The thought of AI sent a shiver down your spine. You hoped it wasn't the case, but now The Hare's next target...

Paladin Raylen cannot make a choice this round.

As the Paladin has no choice but to take another blow from The Hare, the rest of your 'team' needs to finish off the boss. Round 1 wasn't enough to take him out, and you're unsure of how far is artificial intelligence goes, if he even has AI. What you do know is that the knight can't take him on forever, so what do you do?

You have the following choices: A. Attack him directly once again and hope your attacks finish him off. B. Stop and regroup for a strategy. You need to be sure he won't change his target. C. Use your mana to take a weaker, longer ranged shot. D. Stay on the outskirts of the arena where you know you'll be safe.

((You have until next Sunday to decide on your choice! Think hard, roleplay, and figure out what the best course of action is for you and your team! Vintage, although Raylen won't be able to make a move, he can still talk with the others, since he can still use his mouth :P

Raylen's greaves slid a good three inches as he protected the floating pyromancer from harm. He grimaced as the giant rabbit continued to claw and bite at him, but his armor seemed to be holding up. He attempted to push the Hare back by advancing with his off leg, only to nearly lose balance and plant it back into the ground. The last time Ben remembered bearing this much weight was in the real world, where he had to help his dad carry a big box T.V. Something told Raylen that this thing was putting in a bit more effort than a television. Mentally shaking the thought off, he continued to serve as a bastion against the beast's attacks. Raylen dared a glance at the others around the outskirts, to find that one of the others had yet to do anything.

"I could use-" Raylen began, further bracing his shield arm- "some help here!"

Revon's heart raced as he caught his breath from running so fast. Looking back, he found that the knight in shining armor, Raylen, was sustaining heavy blows from the giant talking rodent. The paladin was now calling out for help, but wasn't particularly looking towards Revon. Quickly following his eyes, Revon looked at the woman leaning on her spear (). He tapped her on the shoulder and gave her a look of disbelief. Grasping his scythe in both hands, Revon looked to the other melee combatants nearby ( ).

"We have to help him!" He shouted over the sound of claws scraping on steel. The white-haired boy seemed as if he was itching to go slice into the rabbit once more.

She knew she was being useless by just standing there, but observing for a better opportunity to strike seems to be paying off. With the paladin distracting the hare, Reliza begins to charge electricity into her spear with her mana. The spear begins to glow before erupting with light and electricity; a high pitched screeching sound began to emanate from the spear. I can either throw the spear into the rabbit or I can launch myself into the rabbit stabbing the spear through it. Without much thinking, she decides that the best course of action would be to launch herself off the outskirts of the arena wall straight into the rabbit with the intentions to pierce it with the now electric charged spear. This better work.

"Sorry for the delay boys and girls, but I'm not here to just stand around and watch others play this awesome game. Now," She calls to the group, she pauses mid sentence to begin her sprint right into the enemy. With the rabbit distracted on the knight you hope you are fast enough before it notices you, you hold your spear a little tighter out of nervousness. "Here comes the the thunder!" As you give your battle cry, you attack the hare putting all your strength and weight into the electric charged spear. Your tail whips and flicks with the wind, the tail end spiking out. You are feeling excited, adventurous and a little bit wicked. Its rabbit season, and your time is up! The momentum of your run gives you a bit more strength in your attack with your spear.

((Sorry I've slow with this. Been a rough work week.))

Savage had managed to avoid the hare's attack, but now Raylen was the center of the beast's attention. The young man looked to Revon and then to the others. "Alright, ladies and gents," Savage started, taking a pause to catch his breath from all the running he did earlier. "We need a new plan, I think? I don't playing chase was the right idea. It'll just focus on the slowest and closest among us. Somehow, I think we all need attack at once."

"I'm okay with that" Amarosa said, turning and speaking to Savage. I mean, my range attack is average so I'll need to stand back a little bit, but I vote we just go through another round of attacks. I don't like waiting like scared little babies, lets just kick its butt!

Raylen- N/A

Raylen continues to struggle with the giant rodent, keeping it at bay with his shield. Through gritted teeth he manages to push out, "D.P.S. The. Boss!" The floating mage behind him () had yet to say anything, but it seemed he was charging up another attack from the last turn (OOC: I assume so since that's what caused Raylen to block the Hare in the first place).

Revon- A

Revon grips his scythe in both hands, ready to attack the rabbit. Raylen was spouting some weird acronym into the air, which he didn't quite understand, but he assumed it meant to attack. "Alright, attacking it all at once is a good idea but we need to deal as much damage as possible in as little time as possible. It looks like I can slow him down to allow for us to dodge and run away from it easier if that's the case." Turning his head to Amarosa, he nodded and said, "Yeah, let's kick some butt."

Itachi was in a slight daze but shook himself out of it. "I will attack again in the air." then realizing that he was saved. "Thank you Raylen for saving me there!" smiling. ()

( Well done, everyone! This week is going to be more focused on your character interaction, and I wanted to give you all a break since it's Halloween in a week ;) So the next choice is going to be on Monday! ))

There's no time to waste. You move as fast as your legs will go. Everything around you seems like a blur. You're not even sure what's happening when you thrust your weapons at the enormous beast in front of you.

A noise so loud it's almost incomprehensible to you sounded through the arena. And that's when your mind awoke to the realization of an explosion happening right in your face. You and your comrades all got knocked back and fell back first on the ground. You groan a little and shakily sit yourselves up. Adrenaline rushing through your body, you brush off your scratches and mild pain carelessly. Did we win? you thought to yourself and tried to see past the smoke surrounding Raylen and the rabbit.

"Ughhhh."

Crap. We didn't do it. You thought to you-

"You have. Defeated me."

Oh, nevermind! It worked!

The Hare's eyes dimmed and his body began to fade out slowly. Not slowly enough, however, as the mass of fur started to topple over face forward on the ground. With just enough time, the knight rolled out from under it before getting crushed. And now the six of you lay there on the coliseum ground. What a thrill! You give a sigh of relief. One of you let out a giggle.

"Good work, everyone! I hope he didn't cause you guys too much grief. It uh, it really only gets tougher from here. Sorry."

"Outside this arena you guys will find a large medical shelter looking thing. It's there to restore your health for the next battle. Roylan? Raylon? Er, knight guy, you might want to stay in there for a while. We also have the punchbags for you guys set up so you can try and do some more intricate moves if you wanna."

"N-now, uh, you guys are going to uh. You have to walk to the next boss. S-sorry. We can't have two bosses very close to each other in case you guys somehow manage to get one chasing you outside of their arenas. Hopefully that's not an issue, but you never know. Computer glitches and coding and whatnot. Bosses respawn after a while too, so, uh. You know? Don't make yourselves at home in that arena is what I'm getting at. Respawning happens in game proto-. We just have bosses respawning okay? For now, take it easy everyone!"

This was a game prototype? For what? Why did the doctor have you guys in a game prototype? The adrenaline started to wear off, and you really didn't feel like getting up off the ground, let alone think in great detail. Oh well. One boss down, and more soon to come!

There is no choice for this week. Feel free to go to the infirmary, walk to the next arena, or hang around this one and chat with each other!

Savage watched as the dust settled after the hare collapsed. They won. Savage chuckled, both from fatigue and relief. "Woo! That was fun," he exclaimed, again, without a trace of sarcasm. "Things really got hare-y there, huh? I hate to imagine this getting progressively harder," he sighed as he allowed himself to lay back down on the ground. Might as well relax a little before whatever thing they have to face next. Immediately following the boss' defeat, a familiar voice sounded their victory. The young man sat back up and slowly pushed himself up, dusting himself off. He looked to everyone else. "You guys alright?," he asked.

Raylen was about ready to drive a blow into the side of the rabbit's head as the four others rushed the beast, then he was suddenly enveloped in dust. All he could see was the silhouette and glowing eyes of the still beast before him. They stared each other down for a moment before the Hare let out a groan. Dread consumed Raylen as... Oh, never mind. Raylen fell on his behind as the rabbit lurched forward, about to topple over on him. He managed to roll away just in time as a loud THUD was heard, the oversized bunny fading away.

Raylen sat for a while, huffing and panting from the previous encounter. The doctor's voice came over once again, advising Raylen to report to the medical bay. Beads of sweat rolled down his slightly angular face as he put his hands on his knees and pushed himself up with a sigh. "That... that sure was something." The holy knight said with a smirk. Sheathing his sword and stowing his shield he turned to Savage and said, "I'm alright. I'm off to the med bay so I can heal up. Don't have too much fun without me." And with that, Raylen did just as he said he would, though with a very slight limp. Thankfully his armor and shield took most of the blows, but that didn't mean it stopped all the impact going through his body. The paladin wondered how much worse it could get after this.

Revon white-knuckled his scythe as he launched himself at the rabbit with the others. With a cry, he turned his body diagonally as his weapon sliced into the digital beast, cutting clean through with his added weight. He immediately turned back in order to attack once more, but he hesitated. Dust enveloped both his companion and the creature. Expecting another round of attacks as the dust settled, he readied to push himself off his back leg and back into the fight. Then, the dust settled and the Hare was no more. Revon breathed a sigh of relief, falling to his knees, then proceeding to sit down. The fight was over.

Looking back over, Revon heard the puns Savage began to crack and he couldn't help himself from smiling. The moment was just so exhilarating, the topless boy couldn't help but tune out most of what was said, both from the beast and from what sounded like the doctor. After a few minutes, Revon got up and dusted himself off, watching the knight in shining armor head off to the medical shelter just outside the arena. Turning back to Savage, he responded, "I don't have a scratch on me, so I'm doing well." Looking off into the distance, Revon noticed another small area a bit far away from their arena. "What could our next challenge be...?"

The last thing she remembered after was a loud noise, her body slamming into the dirt and the words, "You have. Defeated me.". Closing her eyes relaxing for a bit taking in the victory. The rush of adrenaline and the excitement of the battle had her mind buzzing with so many thoughts she couldn’t focus on anything. She took a moment to calm down, before opening her eyes. The first thing she heard was “You guys alright?” Standing up she dusted off her body and examined herself.

“I’m better on the inside than I look on the outside.” She flipped her hair shaking out as much dust as she could. Flipping her hair back she noticed that the knight had already left to the med bay “Not a scratch on me, which is always nice. I don’t think I’ve introduced myself yet, you may call me Reliza.” she said with a wink. Her tail was slowly wagging with a twitch due to the excitement earlier.

“I hope the next challenge will be more challenging that the last one.” She said with a grin. The thought of continuing to play the game made her excited. Slightly opening her mouth, she turned to look at the med bay. “Even though I don’t have any injuries, I’d like to join ‘the knight guy’ and keep him some company.” She said with a bit of a giggle and a wink. She began her walk towards the med bay trying to keep her walk calm and smooth. Her tail might have been twitching like crazy with all the excitement that she just wanted to let loose but Reliza didn't care.
