The Harry Potter cult Wizarding is having its second term ball and would like to invite non-members to join in the fun as well!
This is a week long roleplay, starting today January 23rd and ending on January 31st. Please note that the ball has been extended until Tuesday, February 2nd!
The Rules
There will be activities and challenges incorporated into the roleplay, and anyone is welcome to participate. However, please note, that only cult members will receive points towards the House Cup for completing the challenges. Anyone not currently a member that later joins the cult will have their points added to the House they join. Points will also be awarded to cult members for participation!
All challenges can be completed at any time during the Ball, however they must be completed before the end!
There is also an HA contest to show off your dress robes! Click here to view. This contest will continue past the end of the Ball since there have been issues with the wardrobe changes as of late!
Once the carriages arrived at their destination, the students filed out to find themselves not in the brisk weather they left the castle in, but in a warm, pleasant atmosphere. There Headmistress Persnickety, along with the new matron Eilidah Glas and the caretaker Lindsey Kain, was casting spells to put on the finishing touches to the ball's setting and to put up a barrier at the edge of the forest. Low groans can be heard from the forest in front of them. The Headmistress doesn’t seem concerned, however. Naos, the new centaur groundskeeper and Eilidah's husband, could be seen putting the finishing touches to the decorations on the stage.
The stage itself was a plain wooden stage. Large wooden arches were set off to the back of the stage; hanging from them were plump wisteria with orbs of light glittering in between the bunches. The stage was currently empty except for a microphone and a few instrument cases. A grassy area was left clear in front of the stage to act as a dance floor. Above the dance area floated paper lanterns, emitting a warm glow over the scene. Off to the left of the grassy area, a tent had been erected and enchanted to look like a castle from the outside to follow suit with the theme chosen by the Prefects: Fairytale. Off to the right of the dance floor stood a tall silver fountain fashioned to look like the Fountain of Fair Fortune from The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Off to the side of the tent was a barrel filled with water and ruby colored apples for bobbing. A sign post was placed next to the barrel:
Poppy stepped quickly into a white pumpkin carriage and sighed happily. This time she was glad to be early because she had been late to the last ball. Poppy gasped at the beauty of the enchanted forest setting. When the carriage stopped, she took a moment to compose herself. Would anyone recognize her with the blonde beauty potion in her hair?

Rox had made herself ready for the ball. When she reached the Great Hall, she had been confused about it being empty, until she had seen the note on the doors. Walking out carefully she saw the beautiful carriages that were waiting for the students. She walked over to the carriage closest to her and stepped in. Other students quickly followed her, it wasn't long before the carriage started to make it's way over to the ball area. When she stepped out of the carriage, she looked around and saw the most amazing decorations. She couldn't wait for the music to start so they could have a magical ball.
As soon as she descended from the carriage she spotted , the Gryffindor prefect and Quidditch Captain. "Hello! Long time no see," said Poppy warmly.

Kendra drank the last of her Shrinking Potion and then looked at herself in the mirror. To her surprise, she looked just like Tinkerbell! She smiled with glee, but wondered if anyone would notice her without her purple hair. She made her way to the carriages and chose a pink one, her eyes darting left and right, ahead and behind, at all of the amazing decorations. When she arrived, she gasped at the beautiful scene that lay itself out in front of her.
The twinkling lighs reflected off her wings, making them glimmer against the moonlight. She walked around for a bit, careful to watch out for anyone who didn't notice her. Though when she was almost stepped on, she took out her wand (which was tucked away inside the bosom of her dress) and cast the Flying Charm on herself, wondering why she hadn't done so in the first place.
Much better, she thought as she flew above so that she could look down upon everyone. She reveled in the feeling of being so high up in the sky without a broom. It was absolutely amazing! She noticed a few people had shown up and decided to join them by gently descending upon one of their shoulders.
"Hello, my dear!"
"Oh!" Poppy was delighted by the tiny fairy that had alighted on her. "You're lovely, but who are you Tink?"

Kendra giggled. "I'm Kendra, Hufflepuff prefect. Nice to meet you!" Her voice was soft and low, and a bit squeaky due to her size.
(Judy looks around in wonder at the beauty that was set out just for them.) How fun! I love that it's warm, all the beautiful flowers... HI Ladies! So nice to see you. Want to share a table until more people get here? Let's go get something to eat! Hi Kendra!( ) I overheard you telling Poppy it's you. Great costume! the flowers sure turned out nice, didn't they?
Gwen took a long time getting herself ready for this ball. She hopes her costume is 'fairytale' enough, she wanted to do a simple faerie costume. She handmade all the accessories without magic just to make them a little more special.
When she sees the note in the ball she is a little curious, they must have something big planned for this term. She gets into a pumpkin and rides down to the party - the candles on the lake are beautiful.
When she arrives she is stunned by the decorations. She feels like she has been transported. She looks around....
"OMG! Look at Kendra! () She is so small and pretty. I wonder if I should have done more."
Harper stepped out of a yellow pumpkin carriage and out into the warm air. She was glad the area was magically heated; her choice of dress would not have been a smart choice for the cold weather. Then again, it was a total surprise that the ball was not being held in the Great Hall.
Harper looked around for anyone she recognized. She wondered where and Beth () were--then she spotted Poppy (). She smiled and waved over to her.
"Poppy, I'm so glad you went with that dress choice! It looks wonderful on you. And your hair looks lovely! Blonde suits you," she said with a smile.
"Why thank you Judy!" Kendra exclaims.
Kendra smiles and flies over to Gwen, landing on her shoulder. A bit of glitter from her wings falls off. "You look great! I think I outdid it, honestly. I like that you kept things simple, it brings out your beauty! The shade of blue you chose for your dress really matches your eyes."
"You're so gorgeous Harper, thank you! That gown is really beautiful. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair or makeup."
Poppy waved to Judy () and admired Kendra () as she flitted away.

Beth looked around in awe at the beautiful scene before her. She happily stepped out of her white carriage and walked towards Harper (), Poppy () and Kendra (). She was glad she'd been able to arrive at the ball early. "You three look gorgeous!" she told the girls.
Kendra looked over at Beth, thanking her for the comment. "Oh thank you, but you're the gorgeous one! You look like a true princess." She said with a curtsy.
Once everything was all set up, Professor Persnickety took a few moments to chat with her colleagues inside the tent. Once a large number of students started making their way down from the castle, she felt like it was finally time to address them all. She stood from her seat and made her way out of the tent and onto the stage. Taking out her wand, she muttered, “Sonorus.”
“Good day, students, staff, and honored guests. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to meet me, I am Professor Appoline Persnickety, Headmistress at this fine institute. I am glad to see many familiar faces returning to our term ball today. I am also pleased to see some new faces as well. I just wanted to take a moment to welcome all of our guests from other schools or home schools. For those of you who have not yet made it down to our gathering and can hear me from the castle, we look forward to seeing you as well. The focus of the festivities tonight is not for classwork or spellcasting, but to come together and get to know each other a little better. Though we divide the students into Houses, we are all still one under the Hogwarts crest.
“While it is a wonderful thing to find camaraderie within our Houses, it is important to not exclude ourselves from the rest of the school. With that in mind, I challenge you to mingle outside of your comfort zones. While our live entertainment gets set up, I’d like for all of the Hogwarts students to take a few moments to find out something from 3 students from other Houses. It could be as simple as finding out their favorite color. This is not mandatory--I certainly cannot force you to partake--but it is highly encouraged. You may even find out a bit about yourselves in the process. Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoy the atmosphere, our live entertainment, and all of the delicious food our Houselves have prepared for us today. Let the Ball begin! Quietus.”
The incantation brought her voice back to its normal level. Without saying another word, the Headmistress stepped off the stage again and joined her colleagues in the tent.

Aderyn was so excited for the ball that she was bouncing in her seat in the carriage, clasping Emmy's hand tightly. She grinned at her girlfriend, trying to get a look out the window to where the thestral-driven carriages were taking them, but she couldn't make anything out. Her wings fluttered a little in the breeze coming in through the open window, and the scent of delicious baked goods wafted in through the window as they drew ever closer to the ball.
"This is going to be great!"
Emmy was very excited as well. She hadn't really gone to many parties in her life, so this one seemed like it was going to be something amazing. She had even added wings to her outfit to match her girlfriend's real ones, and enchanted them to move with her back muscles so they seemed more natural.
"Oh look, thestrals!" Emmy said, as she and Aderyn got into a bright purple carriage together. They held each other's hands tightly as they thestrals trundled along, then practically burst out of the carriage as it came to a stop.
"Ohh, lets get a table up front!" Emmy said, still holding Aderyn's hand as they entered the enormous tent and saw all the tables set up for them all.

Aderyn gracefully fluttered down from the carriage as Emmy jumped out, following the other girl as she was tugged along toward an enormous tent in the field near the forbidden forest. She glanced around in awe at all the sights as they entered it, her gaze finally coming to rest on the large tables near the front of the room.
"We can claim a spot and then go and mingle - I can't wait to see everyone else's costumes!"
She walked along with Emmy, trying not to trip as she got used to walking in high heeled shoes.
Kendra spotted two other girls walking onto the field and her eyes widened when she saw that they had wings on. "More faeries!" She exclaimed as she fluttered over to them, hovering in front of their faces.
"Hello! I'm Kendra, Hufflepuff prefect. I don't believe we've met before, but I saw that you were dressed as fellow faeries so I got too excited to stay away. You both look absolutely gorgeous."
Emmy smiled as Kendra approached them, knowing who she was since she is also in Hufflepuff.
"I know who you are, I'm in your house," Emmy laughed, waving as Kendra approached them. "I'm Emmy, this is Aderyn, and actually she IS half fairy, I'm only dressed up as one." Emmy told her. "You look pretty too though!"
