"Green, definitely green." Sam answered absently, her attention divided between the decorated coaches, and attaching the flower Magnus had given her to her dress.
"Are those Thestrals?" she asked wonderingly looking at what seemed to be empty air in front of a coach. "I've never seen one before except in books."
"You got sorted in the right house then," he said. Silently he noted happily his eyes where green. He had planned on wearing a green prince outfit so he could look more Slytherin for the night, but reds where all he could find, except the green cane. "Yes, I can see them. They are kinda pretty. Would you like me to fetch you a drink?"
I will keep my eyes open for MG also. I hope her costume won't make finding her too difficult. HI Poppy. Flitting away seems appropriate this ball. :) LOVE your big bad wolf costume! Glad to know it's you in there! ;) @ Canidae Hannah, my favourite jelly bean is definitely sour apple. Yum. @ Raven and my favourite colour is purple. Even though it doesn't go so well with the Gryffindor reds.
I was wondering if some of you have read muggle stories and have a favourite fantasy character? Personally, I like Fiona. :D
"They're so dragon-ish, I wonder if they're friendly..., I'll wait to risk getting bitten until after the ball though. Something cold to drink would be wonderful, thanks." As they went inside, another girl , asked who everyone's favorite fantasy character was. "Well," Sam answered. "Maleficent is definitely the most awesome. I mean a Dragon Animagus! How cool is that?"
Gulp! Not my favourite. Thinking about it, rarely has any good come from animagi. Except for Professor McGonagall...
Paddy climbed down from the pumpkin carriage, careful not to trip over her heels and hoped that dressing as the wolf in Red Riding Hood's clothing was suitable for a fairy tale themed ball. Looking around, she marvelled at everyone's outfits and tried to find someone she recognised. Suddenly the headmistress' voice cut across the sound of excited students, and Paddy's heart sank at being encouraged to mingle. She still felt self-conscious wearing such a short skirt, let alone having to mingle with students she'd never met before. Still, she was determined to join in, so giving a wave to Magnus () and Sam () who both looked amazingly elegant, she started to walk towards some students she'd never met before.
(Paddy - Gryffindor)

Sauvage is quick to answer the question of the girl in the hood. The excitement of meeting new people is electrifying, making her giggle just before answering. "Well, the only reference I have for muggle fairy tales is from this book of stories written by the Grimm brothers, but I've only managed to read a few stories from it. Oh! but I have seen movies based on fairy tales. I'm quite partial to the original tale of the Little Mermaid from Japan. And...I'm kind of a movie fanatic. That's something you'll come to learn about me quick."
Fade chewed his lip while pushing some hair out of his eyes for the five hundredth time. At least the color seemed to be sticking to its designated color family. Taking in his outfit he rolled his eyes at himself and reached for the red rose that had been left on his bedside table.
As per usual he was running a little behind schedule. Shoving his feet into the pair of boots that the other boys in the dormitory all agreed were the best match, Fade gave himself one last backwards glance in the mirror before heading downstairs. The common room wasn’t entirely empty, aside from a few pets there were a number of girls still running around helping each other fix their hair and makeup and enchanting their jewelry to really sparkle. Before he could leave they insisted they charm his crown, and not wanting to be rude, he obliged.
Glittering and polished, Fade in his generic royal fairy-tale outfit strode into the chill of the evening. Before he could decide if he should return to grab a jacket, he was wrangled into one of the pumpkin carriages with a number of others, and hurried off toward their destination. When he inquired about what exactly was propelling the carriages an older student tisked playfully and told him it was a Thestral. Fade was mildly disappointed he couldn’t see the beast, but kept that thought to himself.
Stepping out of the carriage he was greeted with a waft of warm air and relaxed considerably. This term he hadn’t agreed to attend with anyone in particular, but was still very interested to see his friends outfits. Secretly he wanted to practice his dance moves, but he would need a few butterbeers before anything like that happened.
"That lipstick is divine on you Beth. What's in your darling little apple purse?"
"Your themed trio is so clever!" Poppy exclaimed to a group of Ravenclaws in Peter Pan costumes. "I like juicy pear jellybeans," she replied to them.
"Sparkles are so becoming on you Sam, and I love what you've done with your hair."

"Thank you! Did you use a shrinking charm to become so small? You must teach it to me some time!" ()
Beth turned to Deme, Caleb and Hannah (), "You three look perfect together! You must take a picture together with Aderyn () and Kendra (). I wonder if anyone dressed up as Peter Pan."
"My favorite jelly bean flavor has to be strawberry," she answered Hannah's question.
"Thanks for picking the perfect shade for me!" Beth opened her bag and showed Poppy () it's inside. "I have some gum, a granola bar, lipstick, lip balm, eye liner, hand sanitizer, concealer, tissues, a small notepad, a quill, my wallet, mints, a camera, a box of chocoballs, the book I'm currently reading, a water bottle and my wand."
Beth waved to Fade (). "You make a dashing prince. Are you Prince Charming?"
"'Llo," he said to someone as he made his way to the drinks. "what are you looking forward to the most? Me I think its the dancing."
He spotted "You look great!" Grabbing 2 butterbeers he headed back to Sam but met Fade en-route. "'Llo, nice outfit," he said. It was nearly the same as his after all. He handed Sam the butterbeer and drank some of his too.
Beth greeted Magnus () and Sam (). "You two are so cute. Sam, you make a beautiful Cinderella. Magnus, you make a very handsome Prince Henry. Mind if I take a picture of you two?"
"'S all right with me. You look lovely too, Miss White. Got your apple nearby?"
"Oh, me?" Sauvage turns to face a handsome prince, someone she hasn't met before. "Um, definitely the music and dancing! I can't wait to..." Sauvage trails off. The prince is already walking away, chatting up other students. She doesn't feel bad, though. The whole point of this event is to socialize.
Sauvage turns back to the group of girls she'd been talking to before, but is distracted by a pale light that keeps shining in her eyes. She blinks and whirls around to find the source. Sauntering in from the carriages is a boy dressed as a prince - Prince Charming, perhaps? Sauvage notices a beautiful girl () in all white greet him then return to talking with some others. Sauvage decides to go say hello as well, considering the boy is just standing there. "Hello! What's your name? My name is Sauvage - I'm a Hufflepuff. I just love your costume."Professor Persnickety noticed the bagpipe player waving to her, signaling he was ready to start. She nodded obligingly and rose to her feet once more. Making her way over to the stage, she couldn't help but smile. All of the gowns and outfits were truly lovely, and it was a wonderful sight to see some of her favorite fairytale characters come to life. Appoline was a fan of children's tales, Alice in Wonderland being one of her favorites. She had chosen to model her dress robes after The White Queen. When she reached the stage, she lifted the wand to her throat once more and whispered. Her next words boomed over the grounds.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" she began. "It is with great honor that I introduce our opening act. His bagpipe playing is among the most enchanting I've ever heard. Without further ado, I give you Beathan Sutherland!"
Professor Persnickety stepped aside and whispered--though it still was magnified by the spell--"Quietus."
Beathan Sutherland made his way to the center of the stage and bowed. He didn't speak to the crowd and simply began to play. Beathan began with the traditional Scotland the Brave, and as he did, the orbs of light in the wisteria behind him began to glow different colors, bathing the stage in different glowing hues.
(OOC Note: Just a reminder, any challenges posed during the ball are open until the end of the ball next Sunday! So you are still able to ask your questions to other members until then.)
Paddy grinned at Magnus "you look really handsome," she said as he grabbed a couple of butterbeers. This was it, time to take the plunge and talk to someone, she thought as she spotted a student she didn't recognise.
"I love your outfit," she said (), "what kind of music are you hoping they'll play?"

Glad you think my costume is OK.
Going Fishing!!! 🐟
Typical boy, Magnus was distracted and accidentally left the girl he was talking too without finishing the conversation. Hopefully if he engaged in other conversations, he would actually remember to finish them.
He had thanked after blushing deeply. He saw her bravely chatting and smiled. He was glad she felt confident.
"Aw, thank you! I got the idea from some old stories my granny used to tell me about mischievous winged folk who often spent their days toying with the fate of people, wizards and muggles alike." Sauvage playfully ruffles her feathers. "And I absolutely adore your outfit. It's so clever! There aren't many muggle fairy tales that I know but I do know the one about Little Red Riding Hood."
Sauvage stops a moment to take a breath, realizing that with every word she had quickened her speech. She tries out a friendly smile and answers Paddy's question: "I hope they play something with a good beat. I could really use a dance." She laughs and nods back to Paddy. "What about you? Oh, and I'm sorry. I didn't catch your name. Mine is Sauvage."
Gwen is having so much fun listening to all the different conversations. She hears a question though and gets really excited!
"I love reading muggle fiction. They have such great imaginations for things they think are not real. My favorite fantasy character though would have to Mercy Thompson. I think the way the writer writes about the weres is actually pretty cool. Have you ever known a real Were? I would love to get their opinion on what they think of the muggles writings about them." ()
"I like strawberry ones, or any type of berry really. I love chocolate frogs! Do you collect the cards?"()
