Do you realize how hard those games are for people with reduced coordination, arthritis, and so on? They take what should be pleasurable and turn it into frustration and often prevent completing an event. Please, no more.

I am fortunate to not have any issues with my hands. I'm honestly curious how a mouse controlled game is better than an arrow controlled game? I feel like the mouse would be even harder to control and hold for longer periods than the arrows.

If you're talking about the new ship game I think a better solution might be to either make the timer longer or get rid of it entirely perhaps. That way you can make your way through the maze at your own pace instead of the frenzied dash it becomes to reach the end on time.

I really don't understand how mouse is better than arrows - your hand is like a claw on the mouse where as on the keyboard you can have your fingers quite straight?

Why not suggest an option you can choose if you want to play with the mouse or with arrows? That way everybody will be happy. I hope haha :)

Arthritis tends to cause fingers to draw up into a "claw" shape; my mom has RA and it's happening to her. So probably holding something and moving it would be easier than keeping your fingers straight for the arrow keys. (Also, they make arthritis-friendly mice, like the one we have.)

That said, if there's already a mouse option for the game, that shouldn't be an issue :)

I sympathize with the problem, but what's the alternative? No games in plots at all? I'd personally be a little disappointed.

I wonder if there's a way to also incorporate an "opt out, I don't want to play this game and in exchange, I will accept no achievements" button into future plots or something.

I disagree with not creating new games using arrow keys, but would like for necessary plot steps to require slightly less of people - Rowboat Race is a clear example of many people having problems completing a single step and being unable to continue, although I had no issues. I like games with the option to switch between keyboard and mouse, but of course not all games work that way. c:

For Pirate Panic - while playing the game, there should be a key icon in the lower right of the screen. Key = keyboard controls. If you click on it, it changes into a mouse. Mouse = mouse controls. Pretty clever, but they really should have added that information to the game's help page. :/

I have RSI and loose joints and playing fast paced, click- or type-heavy games really aggravates it, so I see where this is coming from. I assume the games for this plot are well and truly finished, but I don't see why new plots can't strive to provide a balance between click-heavy and click-light games / keyboard and mouse games / etc. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Hard to avoid these things, computers are generally bad for these kinds of issues, and this game is on a computer. :/

im all in for an opt out or a very easy mode (that has more time/health/whatever, but has penalties like no achievement or plot points)

other than that, it's just unfortunate. the games are already so simple.

Make it too easy and you'll get a feedback thread that says "Do you realize how easy those games are for people with coordination, no arthritis, and so on? They take what should be pleasurable and turn it into frustration. Please, no more." It's unfortunate but the site cant cater to any and everyone.

My first thought went to all the people with coordination issues or a disease that put a limit on what they can do. I agree that it is hard, but it seems like the games will be a thing in this plot. I wonder what staff could really do about it? (introduce a first person shooter game, bye). I admit that I kind of rushed with the boat game. The accuracy of the boat getting such in the rocks is a little too accurate and backing up is a pain in the ass. Maybe a longer timer .. ?

If someone cannot complete a certain game after the 10th attempt (or so), they should be able to move on. But then, would it be fair for the people that succeeded with hard work? It's hard to please.

tldr; more or less what said too.

Well, we've had three games so far. One is Gravedigger, which is a mouse click game. One is the boat, which is arrow keys. And one is the pirate game, which you can switch between arrow and mouse. Isn't that exactly equal?

If your only two categories are "mouse clicky" and "keyboard clicky" then yes. I was talking about games with less clicking overall, e.g. puzzles which require 1-2 clicks a minute, rather than the games we've had so far, which require constant keyboard/mouse use. This was my suggestion because I do not have arthritis, I have RSI, which gets worse if I make a lot of rapid small movements with my hands regardless of whether I am using the keyboard or the mouse. I think other people in this thread have issues with finger/hand positions and mobility, which respond to different types of movement. Ergo, I was trying to formulate my support for people with arthritic etc. conditions while mentioning my own concerns/issues. Hope that clears things up?

Ahh yes it does. Well, many of our plots do have puzzles, so I'm expecting some down the line. Using last Morostide plot as an example, I believe cleaning up the mansion there were a few games such as these and then after there were puzzles as well as battle opponents, usually there's quite a bit of variety in my experience. So we shall see what happens :)

Awesome. I'm super-new, but I figured there'd be some slower stuff down the road, since there are quite a few non-hectic games on the site already. :)

Not the rowboat one? Damn. That's what I'm stuck on...
