I do see how this can be an issue for some users, however, I don't really see a reasonable way of making every game easily playable for everyone? i personally can't play games that are mouse-based very well. :c

There should be a way for them to pass every step and to get an achievement with the same prize too.
This is a game and it's not Subeta's fault that you have health issues. Unless there's a way to incorporate a different task that you would be able to do (or different controls that might be easier, like the pirate game had), you should have to either play the game or forfeit your prize. Not that I don't support finding alternatives, if possible. It's also not that user's fault that they have health issues? Penalizing someone because their body/brain/etc. doesn't work at the same standard as other peoples' is discrimination. You get sued for that kind of thing IRL.
Now, I understand that people would be upset if people just opted out of doing anything altogether and still reaped the rewards, and I would agree that that is unfair and frankly kind of stupid. But I don't think anyone's arguing for that exact thing? I'm saying every step should have at least two options for progressing -- you still have to do something, but at least then a user with epilepsy doesn't have to play a flash game or a user with dyslexia doesn't have to try and solve a word puzzle. And then, yeah, if you still don't want to do the step, you can opt out without the achievement or the prize and come back later.
It's not asking a lot that people should be able to play a site that's meant to be fun without having their disability thrown in their face.
We are going to add a 'skip step' sort of button so those that really cannot complete a step can still continue with the plot. They will likely not receive those achievement prizes, but they will have the chance to attempt further plot days.
We don't want to leave anyone out - some of these games we did try putting in different controls, and it kept messing with the game. Pirate Panic was the first of the three that we could toggle the controls easily enough (and even that is causing a few glitches still!)
We have to accept that not everybody will be able to play and/or enjoy each game. But we definitely don't want to stop everybody's fun the moment they come across a plot step that they physically cannot do.
this, i want to move forward but cant because the fact i dont have arrow keys...pretty upset as i would love to play. what sucks is i cant move forward with the plot because of it which is sad.

there will be end of the plot prizes right? how will this affect those? someone will now be able to skip every step if they don't care about the achievements, do literally nothing, and still get all of the end prizes?
- In the past, when we've let people skip games they have received more limited prizes at the end. It's likely it would go the same way this time. We typically don't decide on prize dispersal until the end so we can be sure of a fair dispersal - but the various stages people complete (or skip) will be/are being tracked.
I cannot thank you and the other staff members enough for this. I will gladly give up prizes etc. so I can continue. I had resigned myself to finishing up the ghost achievement and stopping.

Okay I had a really wordy reply written out but it's kind of irrelevant because we basically agree. I was replying strictly to the post I had quoted, that said people should be able to skip the step and still get the same reward. Which is not fair at all.
I do support finding an alternative step besides the game or something (for the same reward of course), but if you end up skipping anyway (or that's the only method staff can add last minute like this), then you didn't earn the reward for that step.
How do I opt out of the rowboat part of the event?
you can't yet.
is there a reason your post isn't showing up? I can see it in admin posts but I can't actually see it on the thread
of course it shows up after I post, I waited a few minutes too >_>
okay ignore this.
it's because i was stupid and momentarily forgot and posted it from my dev instead of the main site, and the two have separate caches so the main site's didn't update when i posted.
Okay if you find out when we can will you post it here if staff doesnt? Thanks!!
oh okay, makes sense! thanks :) I knew as soon as I asked you it'd show up and I'd look dumb :P
This game is too hard, my hands can not take it. I would like to opt out, forget the achievement its not worth it! Please fix this......
Miss you my dear sweet sister Lena ❤ Miss you my dear Subeta sister Georgie ❤
and my thoughts exactly. Everyone will have a problem with one game or another.
We've had alternatives in plots before. The Island/Pirate plot had battling and a restock war. People without strong battling pets could still participate by joining in the restock war. In another plot involving battling, there was an option to donate first aid equipment.
Maybe an alternative to these games could be restocking a certain amount of items from the Rathskeller Inn.
