Oh gosh, where do I even begin in saying how much I appreciate and LOVE this addition to the 'pedia!? Everything just looks so much friendlier, the images cut down the wordiness, and THE PET LORE.

The Jollin was definitely interesting; it makes sense they're truly Saherimos natives, what with the big ears. Thank you for retconning the initial "they're from Arctic Frost" assumption. Perfectly written imho.

Some things I'd like to see added in, mostly for the first line in each entry (right beside species name pronunciation): o Kumos, is the plural Kumoses or Kumi? Same goes for any other species with questionable pluralities. o Male and female average weight/height (body length dependent on species, like Tigreans). o Native land: (ex. Sacred Lands/Saherimos)

Overall, the Subetapedia just looks so much better. Very well-organized. I'd love to see a compiled list of entries which detail Subeta's past plots and major site events. ;) This way, new players can jump right into discussions, and know who Amy was or how Steamwork pets came into existence, without feeling left out.

Post your feedback guys! What do you think of the recent additions and improvements to the 'pedia? Anything you'd like to see added into it? Any burning questions you want answered in the lore? Discuss below~ =3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUBETA!

I love the pet lore! I LOVE lore. :D Can't believe it has taken 10 years for us to finally get pet lore though!

I love the pages, but my main gripe is how .. bland the page looks? I would love some:

  • Maybe a map or some kind of icon indicating which location the species is native to.

  • Links to notable artwork containing those species.. maybe like the Kumos Moon scratch card art Although I can't super recall some notable artwork, haha.

  • Maybe include the "population" for each species? - ie. the number of kumos on the site. I think this statistic is hidden on another page on Subeta, why not on the SubetaPedia page? :)

I love this! :) The height comparisons are a neat touch. I really expected a lot of the pets to be larger. Ohmigosh the Lain is tinyyyyy! ❤ Can't wait to see size charts for other pets.

Plurals would be great! And what about other names for gatherings of different pets? Like a murder of crows. What would a gathering of Lains be called (something cute sounding, I hope!)?

There's something odd about the Darkonite entry though. Asmodeus' zapper? Shouldn't that be Euclid?

I really like the ideas for adding in details about plural names!

I haven't had a chance to read through them yet but will definitely sit down and do it later on today. I did go through all the pages to see sizes, and man, these pets are tiny. So very very tiny lol. I always imagined the Darkonite and Donadak to be at least the size of wolves but they seem more house cat size.

But seriously, thank you Subeta team for finally doing this! The new layout is so much more inviting to look at and I love all the little icons. Here's to hoping it doesn't take another 10 years to get all the species in there :P

Edit: Went though and read them all and I am so happy right now. Like no idea how happy!

I am loving this to bits! Something like this should have been done years ago and I reallyreally hope it'll get a lot more fleshed out in the following weeks/months. :D

<p>There&;s something odd about the Darkonite entry though. Asmodeus&; zapper? Shouldn&;t that be Euclid?

A chorus of lains? First thing that came to mind. :'D

Yup, that should definitely be Euclid. Ian runs the Genetech lab. Unless Ian actually made the darkonites (genetic experiments, makes sense to me), in which case the text needs a bit of a tweak.

I'd also really like an actual, proper canon reason for anthro pets. Anthro pets really stick out in the current setting, IMO, but if you manage to find a good canon reason for having them around (please don't use the old "a wizard did it" excuse), I'm sure it'd give pet-people more of a reason to create anthro pet characters.

That aside, I'm definitely seconding these:

  • a plural for the pet species names and a name for a group of that particular pet specie (quarry of donadaks <3)
  • mentioning the average height/weight for males and females (pls let there be bigger ladies among some pet species)
  • total current population (this is currently hidden on the "About" page)
  • adding a little spot for the native lands with a link to the respective Subetapedia entry
  • possibly a little "random facts" part under the "famous pets" section
  • information on whether these pets were used for anything else other than... well... being pets. Hunting, foraging, sport events (hikei polo, anyone?), mining, farming, scrying, etc. Food for thought.

A chorus of Lains sounds cute! :)

Maybe Ian did create the Darkonites. I'd like to see some more background on him and Euclid. Euclid doesn't have an entry at all. Ian's entry says that he studied alongside Euclid, and that he's the one who turned Euclid into a Wyllop. Maybe they'd been working on the original zapper together, and that was involved in their falling out? The original zapper's page mentions the previous owner having an accident. Could Ian have zapped Euclid?

That's a likely option. ... Huh, maybe the prototype zapper was to blame for anthro pets? I don't know what exactly they're using for zapping pets, but it's possible that there's some kind of chemical cocktail involved? There are volcanoes in Darkside and volcanic ash can travel fairly far. Maybe that's what happened to create the anthro pets? Somebody steals the zapper brew, then dumps it into a volcano to sabotage the zapper (and hide the evidence), volcano spews out a giant cloud of ash, volatile chemicals everywhere in the air turning some folks into random subeta pets.

Well, some background on the zappers would make a nice addition to the Subetapedia, along with Ian and Euclid's involvement with them. And Euclid needs his own entry, of course. :)

It's nice to see pet lore getting some love, although the style of the lore itself is kind of disappointing to me. Not that the writing is bad or anything, but it kind of feels like I'm reading one of those "what dog breed is right for you" guides about real-world animal pets. x:

I guess I just always imagined Subeta pets being more complex and intelligent than this? More like the sentient native species of the Subeta-world than common housepets kept by humans in the Subeta-world. But I suppose that stems from browsing pet profiles/spotlight winners for so many years, and not from any actual Subeta lore that supported it.

I would like to see the addition of the common pose of the pet on the pages actually. And maybe one special color but that isn't entirely necessary. An image of the species plus a link to it's create a pet page would be really helpful I think.

A headshot and gray scale size box are all well and good, but I think an actual representation of the species is in order. It can go in the empty space beneath the size chart.

All the ideas everyone said so far are cool. I can't get over how tiny the montre is, to be honest. I thought it'd be bigger. 0.0 Wonder what the biggest pet is.

I'm kinda confused about some of the stories that don't seem to add up, like Why would the Wizard give the Gatekeeper, a servant of Maleria, a weapon? Who is Liara, the girlfriend of Darkheart Phantom? What does she look like? Why was she shamed by Shinwa? SHE'S A PRINCESS I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT PRETTY PRINCESSES.

And then just stuff I'd like to be expanded on in the future because I am greedy for stories; for example, WHAT THE HELL IS SAI? Regarding the last section of the article on the Sacred Lands, what are sand spirits? Tell us more about Quentin and Asmodeous pleaseee ;_; I'd love to learn more about their relationship and their friend/sibling dynamic! I need more. Plus I adore Quentin and want to know more anyway. (Having a specifically androgynous character is amazing and I can't love it enough) Can we learn more about the Oracle? What's this about Sebastian Phoenix's integrity coming in to question?

Also; Why are the images for Mori and Nori the old ones instead of the revamps?

But onto praise; I LOVE the size comparison for the pets, very nice touch (I always thought pets to be very large so it's a bit strange to me, but still!) The revamp of article contents have been absolutely wonderful, and the format is so nice and clean and easy on the eyes. I'd love for the images to be more uniformed but at the same time I like the differences between the ones that do have images (Like how Merana's image is more of a banner, it looks fantastic.) I'm just really happy overall and I haven't been about a revamp in a long time. This is really fantastic and I'm just so excited!

I'm slightly disappointed to read that our Pets mostly behave like real life dogs, cats or birds silly me imagined them to have a "deeper" personality than that but whatever, it's still interesting to read so thank you.

P.S.: The "Lains live up to 10 years in captivity" sentence makes me sad. :P

Probably the Tutani since it's a whale. Or maybe we'll be surprised and it will turn out to be much smaller than expected. The Mortiking and Velostor seem like they would be a large pets too. I would have thought those three to be the largest.

The mortiking and velostor seem like very good candidates. Sometimes I think the dilemma could be very big but then I remember it's a cursed plushie or whatever, so it's probably very small.

I'm with you, Cass. I feel like my pets should be dumbed down now. :( Since they can't talk with us, after all.

As I said in the news, I'm personally terrified of what the Serpenth page will say, mostly as I spend a great deal of my time with snakes irl, and am worried they're going to go with the whole, "Evil snake" trope. ;- ;

Please please please... don't do the whole evil snake thing. Snakes are amazing pets, and not mean or evil in the slightest. ;- ;

Edit: Most of the Serpenths look really sweet. I'm with you. Please no "snakes are evil" BS. D:

I like to think so, too, Wasn't sure if it was just my own bias on it or not. I have sooo many pictures of totally loving snakes (I share my home with 7, who are seen as members of the family, just like dogs and cats are for most people.)

Especially with my son. He adores the snakes and cuddles with them as often as we let him. He is allergic to every other animal I have tried with him-- dogs, cats, mice, rats, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, bunnies... But reptiles? Hypo-allergenic and just as loving. :)

The addition of the artwork is great, I am happy to see the Subetapedia getting some aesthetic upgrades.

The actual content, as well as the writing style, leaves much to be desired. There are about 68 different species of pet, not including the experiments. Articles were done for 10. While it's a nice start, personally, I could have waited to see this until there was more content to see.

With regard to the writing itself.... Were these proof-read by someone with a lot of writing experience? To me, it is obvious there are multiple contributors with varying writing styles. I think having one overall person as the Subetapedia editor would be beneficial, with her nanowrimo experience seems like a logical option for that position.

There are SO many unnecessary commas and exclamation marks:

Quote
The native Ytivi believed they had discovered a new species, although they were confused by their large ears and lack of dense fur!

Quote
These appendages have the consistency and flexibility of rubber, but they are covered with a fine, soft hair and are almost downy in texture!

Quote
In the home, they adore the companionship of both people and other pets, and they will get along with anything from other kumos to felis to pherrets!

As well as improper grammar:

Quote
It is not too large, with the average darkonite weighing between 14-18 lbs (6.3-8 kg), and they stand just a little over a foot (30 cm) tall.

(Starting with a singular pronoun and the switching to a plural pronoun in the same sentence not only reads poorly, but it's technically wrong.)

I also think that the format should be more like the format of the articles done for the different areas, like Delphi. With headers to break up the wall-o-text.

Perhaps this is going to come across as nit-picky, however I think that some users are just so excited to see that an area of the site that has been neglected for years is getting worked on that they are willing to overlook the quality of the content being released. Personally, I can not do so.
