OH NO IT'S THE VELOCIRAPT...Velosotor revamp poll :)

Its eye isn't as big and its nose is way bigger than before, it look more like a t-rex than a raptor now... tail is thicker and its claws on its hands are WAY too big.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I prefer the new one simply because it's more dynamic and well-drawn, but it comes off to me as more of a bigger dinosaur like an allosaurus or tyrannosaurus rather than a raptor, and in essence for that reason isn't too much different from the Mortiking. Everything (even the head and body, and especially the arms) needs to be a bit longer and thinner. Also, this isn't as important, but raptor fingers and toes are very flexible and able to be moved independently of each other like fingers and toes (hence why their killing claw was so effective.) I realize space might be an issue in determining the size of things, but I think it's doable. ^^

Is it just me, or does it seem kinda bulky? o.O Other than that, it's amazing! Great job whoever drew it

I voted for the old one. This one is shaded too much so it looks wrinkly

Are the potion colors going to be changed?

PLEASE lemmi know. Because I LOVE Tell the way he is. I'd be crushed if he drastically changed colors.

Other than that, its actually a rather nice revamp. I can't say I care for the front legs... the claws seems too large, and a little awkward. Personally I think the actual 'hand' part should be be a bit larger.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Looking at it again, I like how it looks..not all -makesmewanttogag- cute. If there is a third vote on the poll, don't make a new 'cuter' one, that would ruin them. I'd really like to see a few species left without sickeningly sweet features...Still, the torso it way too short, the elbow should not get hit or even near hit when it walks. x|

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I don't like the fact how that new one can't look female. Too masculine-looking...

The new name is funny D=

Really, I love it. I bought an elixir for one of my pets for when the revamp happens. I'd just like to see the tail fixed, a tad stiffer, and the arms fixed, cause somehow they look funny. xD It would be nice to see the face slimmed a tad too, but hey, I'm fine with it like this. Seriously though, the tail is too bendy. Dx

I think it's great. Good job, to the artist. :3 And some people really need to stop whining. :| (Not the people with the constructive criticism. I mean people going all "I hate it I want the old one back change it this one is all ugly and fat and whatever&quot

The shading on the face looks a bit... off to me and its right "arm" looks a bit weird. It looks like the "thumb" was sloppily put on, and it makes the wrist look too small/thin/whatever to support it.

Otherwise, I like it, and think it looks really great. :3

Usually it takes me awhile to warm up to the revamps, but I love how this one looks tougher and just a bit fiercer, while still being adorable enough not to eat me when I turn away

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

noo, it's not cute anymore!
I love the new look, but I don't like the face that much. Maybe the eyes should be somewhat bigger and the grin somewhat cuter. :S I dunno.

I voted for the old one, not because I think the old one should stay, but because I'm not too fond of this particular revamp. The art itself is of a much higher quality, and I agree that the Velocitor should be revamped, as the original has some issues of its own, but I just don't like this one.

Here's why (constructive criticism time! ) : -Although I love the prominant foreclaw, and think that it should be kept massive and curved like that, all of the claws are too metalic looking for me. The shading could be toned down there, or te color tweaked, or something. Also along the lines of the claws, it looks to me like the two upper claws on its forearms are physically too big for its hands.
-One of the things I liked best about the original is that you took one of the most vicious predators in the dinosaur world and made it look dainty, graceful, and intelligent. Those qualities are missing in this version, although it wouldn't be too hard to reclaim them. I think making the muzzle a bit slimmer and changing the angle of the eye would recapture some of the original grace. -also, on the subject of the eye, there's something off about it. Although love the new slit pupil, I think it is a bit too constricted. Either the new velocitor perpetually in bright light, or it is constantly afraid. I think if the pupil were dialated a bit more, it wouldn't have that glassy 'deer in headlights' look. -Other people have mentioned it, but the giant crooked grin is a little off-putting. If it were toned down a bit (or at least not so dimply), it would be less ... odd.

So, that's all the concrit I've got, do with it what you will. To summarize: the revamp has far superior art, but has lost some of the endearing qualities of the original.

By the way, can I take a moment to say how nice it is that we're given the chance to nitpick like this?

I like how it's way more realistic and muscley. It doesn't look flat anymore, so I'm happy. Just anything you'd show me that was revamped from the Veloster, I'd vote for.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

This new version seems more realistic. It's not a new name change, you were just about to say VELOCIRAPTOR, right?

ooh, quite nice. I voted new.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Lastly, (I keep reading and finding new topic) I see that people are saying that back then it was too female and now its too male. Really I think that its not too bad if you do want or have a female and dinosaurs of the same race/species looked the same no matter what gender they were. Maybe just different coloring but same look. Males looked like females and females looked like males. Also if there is a name change I soooooooooo perfer the old one.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Also I think that the size is right on this one while the old one was more or less too skinny. But the eyes still got me on the old one.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like this revamp. It looks more like the real dinosaurs and the toes are up in this one which is what I like but I still voted for the old one because of its eyes. I love the innosent eyes on the other one and thats way I got one in the first place and made it female. This one just doesn't have those same eyes.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by IceMistress
User Avatar

Oh yes, I DO think the shading is a wee bit dark. x: But eh. Plus, I love how strong it looks, unlike most people. I would do still like for it to be a TEENY bit leaner (not anorexic looking, though O_o), but still strong looking. Does that make sense?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Well, to those complaining that it's too 'fat', a lot of these redraws are trying to make the pets look less cartoony and stylized, and more realistic. And hell, maybe dinosaurs weren't exactly the skinniest things. I say stop complaining that they're bigger, you'll give them an eating disorder. I agree that the shading seems a little dark, but overall I love the redraw.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by IceMistress
User Avatar

I voted new, because it's such a better revamp from before, BUT. I think it should look a little leaner, like everyone else said, like the real velociraptor. C: And the claws should be less shiny and sparkly, possibly even a bit thinner and sharper for the toe-claws. And, erm.... the smile is creepy. 8D But it's still a VERY lovely revamp!

First set of posters said it was far too feminine...now people are saying its toomasculine. I dont get the waves of thought.

I was just going to come and say thought I thought people might be thinking it looks femenine due to the eyes stripes looking like lashes, but now that everyone is all ZOMG MANLY now.. shrugs

HOLY CRAP. -

Please, please, don't revamp it. I don't wanna shell out sixty bucks to have a slot for this amazing work of arrrrrt. ;o;

Granted, the smile seems a tad wonky, but stilllll. ;o;

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

VELOCIRAPT? What's that all about?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I definitely like the rest of the revamp, but I don't really know about that face... It just doesn't seem to match the personality of the old one. The older Velosotor looked pretty cute to me, and this one... Just doesn't. Oh, and one more thing-- It looks anatomically fantastic to my eyes, except a velociraptor's tail was incapable of bending in such a way.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by WolfieWU

Yeah, I'm wondering why all the new revamps make the pets look bulky/fatter lately :/

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by MissXami

Love the art, but shading bothers me so much ;_; That weird kinda shading I've been seeing a lot lately. It was fixed on the Tigrean though. I don't know, the shading heavily over powers the markings. I couldn't even see the face well because it's too dark and in contrast that toenails are too bright so my eyes dont find a central point. (I was taught that you'd want to find a central point where your artists eyes go, and they follow down the image)

If the shading was toned down a bit and the claws were not so sparkly (I don't think dinos had clean feet ;D) I'd go with the new one 100%.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Oh, it's also smirking.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

This one looks meaner and duller. Also lots fatter. The other one seemed to look almost smart, smaller, and faster. So the old one, in my opinion is better.

Lol Barney XDD Yeahh.

It definitely is much nicer. But I liked the old feel better. It was a more lean, fast creature. This seems big bulky and almost Barney like (THE SMILE, PEOPLE.).

I like the old one, but I voted new and the reason behind this is this. Because when new colors come out having a staff artist that can draw all the colors is essential to me for consistency and I am a big fan of consistency. I would love to see the Ghostly updated soon so that the common and the colors that are in the same pose as the Ghostly look more like the awesome Hydrus, Dark Matter, Graveyard and Spectrum Ghostlies. Just don't change the Hydrus and Darkmatter ones and that cute Spectrum one because they are already to die for. Ah, but this was supposed to be about Velosotors wasn't it? LOL

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It's nice, but... Too heavy? The original one was a lighter kind of dinosaur, this one is a bulky tyrannosaurus.. I don't really like it. :/ The body is too thick for the short legs. But beside that, shading and everything is alright, so...

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It looks wonderful; the only thing that bothers me about this is the shading is very, very heavy and interferes with the actual lines on the body (the stripes going down the back, that sort of thing), which is a bit awkward to me - kind of like the heavy shading that was originally on the Tigrean.

And as a quick note... Why is there always at least five or six people that... scold others for posting their opinion? Geez, that's what they want us to do. Just because the art is better doesn't mean everyone has to like it.

I like the new one but the tail should be longer and the head more dainty. A bit more streamlined would also help I think. Overall I think the new one is very good but needs some tweaking.
