In a completely unrelated note, an important weapons shipment mysteriously "went missing" this afternoon. We managed to salvage a few Fanciful Boxes that were overlooked in the theft, and will be holding those for future battle event prizes. Unfortunately, everything else appears to be long gone.
The richest user part of the dashboard hasn't worked in a long time, haha.. it says i'm 73rd with only 200m right now.
Barring a total rehaul of the system to make it more intuitive and less needing a 20 page guide and an oldie to walk us through it, I don't have any suggestions for battling itself. However I know Subeta is stretched very thin on all resources and that probably isn't feesable.
Stop protecting the investments of a few elitist oldies. Rerelease the weapons people have been asking after for literally years, in the way they've been asking for. Look at the comments here, rebalance the battle economy to make it actually fair instead of catering to the oldies. Look at how many people are calling for this, how many hearts those comments have compared to yours as staff because we can see the redirect for what it is.
Answer like they've asked you for twice now. Address someone other than me and each other with their comments and concerns.

Heart-broken right now. After months of teasing us with "battle things on the horizon" and the hints at weapon re-releases, I cannot believe that this was how weapons were chosen to be released. Admin, including (especially?) the BAs, clearly have 0 interest in listening to the battle community. Can we at least be honest about that much?
By the way, as a battler (and also someone who enjoys and tries to participate in almost every other facet of the site) I don't even want godlies to battle with. I just want them for wearables and TCs. I'm willing to battle to earn them and worked a long time to train up a T13 pet so I could hopefully obtain such items eventually but I'm not sure why they are so gatekept when I'm pretty sure there are better weapons available now that are easier to obtain. Would love some knock-off versions that are just wearable. Don't really understand why old battlers' "investments" are the only ones so heavily protected on the site.
This is hella rad as a wearable and I'm sad that I'll probably never acquire one if I'm understanding correctly that they only come from these boxes...
imagine re-releasing weapons from over 8 years ago for 9 bil when two of the same type of weapons sell unlimited in the antique shop for less than half the price. Seems legit. Thanks for the lesser box option, but battlers have been asking for more consistency with battle events and more battle related content, not "let's just dump weapons into a box for sP." This seems like the quick and thoughtless/bare minimum effort.
I am curious as to what demographic this is catering to. Many battlers are poor because they spend all their sP on battle sets and pet stats. Resellers are not going to invest 9 bil in an item with no ROI and there are CW weapons with beautiful art and less copies on site that don't sell anywhere near those prices. That just leaves a few collectors, which means the items will still not be in circulation.

We 100% agree that battling is super hard to get into. We've discussed this a lot. It's a very old system that's difficult to explain to new users, so the current pool of battlers is mostly old-timers. We try to release good weapons that aren't too expensive or difficult to earn, and we make sure to balance out our challengers to cover all difficulty levels, but getting new people into battling has always been a huge struggle for us. When we try to ease people into it via easy plot challengers, there's always a lot of complaining about being "forced" to battle. We are always, ALWAYS happy to hear suggestions about how to make battling more fun for newbies.

The battle economy is shit. Its quite literally not a fair and balanced economy. So if that's your job then you maybe need to reconsider how you've been doing it and who your focus is on when making choices.

This is not about acorn bombs, or about the godlies you an obtain in the MC. This is about what the users want, the staff obviously ignoring that for bs reasons, and battle culture being so gatekept for the sake of guarding an elitist few :)

It was in a token shop restock, and somebody said it was promised to never be re-released until Amber put it in the token shop. Reading the comments again, it was actually made edible to make it more exclusive because of a previous miscommunication. Maybe there wasn't real anger but apparently had to rectified.

you seem to have skipped over my question so I'm asking again for you to clarify that you asked for extremely limited resources we were told couldn't be spared for basically anything on the site in 2020 to make a WEARABLE weapon to be released in a limited run of a hypo-expensive gambling box where maybe 5 entire copies would be put on the site in its entirety (and make it specifically so that none be even be put into the actual wardrobe because you wanted a good weapon)?
like a weapon only, sure, whatever, but a dual use item needing two different pieces of art, one much larger, from a very spread team?

Exactly. Previous release methods meant only the top 1% of battlers (generally the same people every time) could get their hands on a godly. Now anyone who's good at making SP can.

Generally speaking, I'm usually all for new weapons that can do similar things like the godlies but are potentially more achievable. I'd love another ice godly that isn't Sandreaver, for example. Make something newer, throw it in the Battle Shop for 1k or 5k impossible tokens and let us have at it. If you can't re-release the old stuff, make new stuff. Make it achievable and related to battling in general.
I'm all for more accessibility so more people can join in. Cause they're right, if you didn't get into battling 10 years ago, now it's rough and only getting rougher. Especially without plots or battle events like we used to have where a new boss weapon prize was released.

also like, if 'protecting older users investments' is the ACTUAL reason you got so angry at rereleasing old weapons why are old free items priced in the millions rereleased? why can we buy cash shop items (many which until then are trending on the highest end of what user shops allow) for a few mil worth of CSC? the guns n roses items or whatever they were called?
I always thought subeta was proud of being a "nothing is gone forever" and yet apparently the battle community which already has a (unearned or not, I lean to not but) appearance of major gatekeeping to most outside the group gets bent over backwards for even against their own wishes to stop that from happening.
Did we get angry, or did someone joke that we'd get angry? I think some people tend to take things literally when Amber's joking around. She can come to us at any point and explain that gourmands (or other groupo) want something released, and we'll take a look. There are certain things that shouldn't go out via the Free Shop, but there are lots of other ways we can get stuff out.
Also, wasn't Ostaff a trivia prize? Lmao, really worked hard for that godly. Better protect that investment.
If y'all are so interested in getting some godlies, there's two available in the MC for purchase and several others that are available to win via battling almost every year :) (All of which are significantly cheaper and have better stats!)
If you want to get some more Acorn Bombs out, we won't get angry. ;) They're not such a good weapon that they'll unbalance anything. And I hear there are some hungry pets whose cravings can only be satisfied by a nice acorn bomb.

And yet, so many weapons are dual purpose (food and weapon or wearable and weapon). Hardly anybody gets to have any of the weapons for their other purpose because it's "value" is based off of battling only. Acorn bombs are food but also a good weapon, so anyone who wants it for food is out of luck. I've only seen them released once and y'all got angry.
And this is why I never really liked battling. I'll just stay over here kicking rocks and ignore the battling until I need a few junk items to either delete or frag for Drills.

Seems like a lot of people are discovering for the first time what an elitist clique high level battling is today, huh.
I bought the SoSS from the antique shop for 3,750,000,000 and Wrath sells for the same price. I don't remember how long it took to save for that but I'm going to say awhile. Those are legit god weapons. What the heck are you getting for 9 billion from a RNG? I'm sure it's some god weapon but man that still seems a heck of a gamble. Sell it and try again, assume that any God is good enough, or hope someone else didn't get what they want and willing to trade for what you wanted? If it's going to be sp I rather see weapons in millionaire center or antique shop so you at least know what you are buying. It's 9 billion, not like the market will be flooded if it's always available.
Or you let people get gods from actually battling. Earn a crazy amount of total wins, or beat all Impossible challengers X times, beat all Normal and Secret challengers X times, or use the Super challengers that don't even have loot for achievement prizes, or buy for an absurd amount of battle tokens. That's just what comes to mind on the fly. I'm sure battle chat can think of more and ways smaller pets could eventually earn them too. It would have been nice if you were given coding to finally reward battling directly outside of very limited boss battle prizes or time sensitive site events.
This effects me probably the least because I have things from battling forever. This just makes me sad for the majority that can't say the same.
