NotN time! Oh man, there's so much stuff to get, I don't know where to start...

Wow, these Nocturnes sure are doing their best to try to cure me of my desire to hatch every single egg I get. I've gotten some really bad combos. It's ok to get a few like that because I had some skins saved that I wanted to use but these really feel like a waste when I see what I could have sold the eggs for. But I know if I sell the eggs, I'll regret it later. And I just hatched one with Facet eyes, my first special-eye hatchie, so I wish I could be excited about it but the colors are so bleh.

YOU...why are you the way you are?! The purple has a secondary pink in some genes but it clashes with the Rose tert, ugh. And this is not the worst hatchie I got, just the most disappointing. Guess it's time to shop for more skins.

How's everyone else doing with NotN? It's been so quiet around here. At least I've gotten almost all the event items except for gem stuff which I'm not gonna buy, so I guess that's not too bad for my first NotN.

My take on that is then lots of people go to the Marketplace and spend real money to buy better genes. :-D

But I mean, the problem is I can't really find a way to work with these colors with any genes, even gem ones. And I thought I was pretty good at that. If they want us to spend cash, they should make sure we get nicer combos that we would want to keep and invest in lol.

My guess is they will rectify that lack with the new ancient breed in the future...once they realize the new breed did not bring in real money. Is their some likely event later in the year such as the site anniversary for them to do that?

My last posts were talking about NotN and the Nocturne eggs I hatched (I didn't have good luck with those), but as for Banescales, here's what I think is going on:

I don't think the Banescales are really a flop altogether, I think they just suffered from bad timing, poor gene availability and maybe not the best method of distribution. Timing was a problem because they were released right before NotN and many of us decided to start saving up for that, so we didn't invest in genes for our Banes right away. Now the genes are apparently quite rare and difficult to snag in the Marketplace (I've been watching for the ones I need, Ragged and Tear, and even if I wanted to spend the treasure, they never show up anymore). So a lot of us haven't been able to gene up our first-gens and breed them. (So to answer your question , I haven't had any luck breeding mine yet because I haven't been able to get them ready to breed haha.)

Distribution was an issue because by giving us all eggs instead of scrolls, a lot of people got stuck with terrible color combos or two males/two females and couldn't breed them. I wasn't around for the Gaoler release but apparently they gave breed change scrolls for those instead...that would be better because then we could all pick nice first-gens to convert and breed. Yeah, buying/trading is a thing I guess, but buying costs treasure we were trying to save for NotN, and some of us just aren't into trading. I've seen some comments that some people just sold their Bane hatchlings and never bothered to replace them.

And there is of course the much more subjective issue that the art just may not appeal to people as much. I love how spiky and fierce they are, but I think a lot of people just prefer "pretty" stuff, like soft, furry creatures with flowers in their hair. XD Perhaps the addition of more Banescale genes in the future will spark some interest from people to whom the current offerings aren't appealing. And as discussed in here before, the art itself does suffer from a bit of flatness/lack of detail and shading. It's not a deal-breaker for me and I think it can be overcome with the right genes/colors/accents, but people's first impression of the basic dragon may not be great.

Apparently, gen-twos are selling well though, according to some posts I've seen, so I don't think the breed is entirely unpopular. They just need more time to grow on people and establish themselves on the site (e.g. genes and breed change scrolls need more distribution and the prices need to come down).

i'm mostly trying to get all the familiars and apparel as i can before it ends. not really a Noc fan but will hold onto the items as things change, lol. but yes the newest ancient is defiantly not a favourite like the gaolers. the reason i joined was because i seen you sharing your gaolers with anna and they were nice :)

I haven't opened any of my Nocturne eggs D: I'm afraid to! LOL! I have quite a few in my vault that I haven't decided what to do with yet. From what you're getting it's making me want to sell them XD NotN has been awesome though! I'm loving all the familiars and apparel I'm getting ^0^

NotN has been awesome!! ^0^ I'm sad it's almost over though D: I love Nocturne's! I have a few of them :3 I need some more, just need lair space cries LOL! I haven't done anything with my Banescales just yet. I love the species, but I think I'm going to wait it out a bit and see what happens with them before making any moves (: What about you? I agree, I don't feel like they beat blossoms XD Now, if they came out with a blossom gene for that one then :O :O :O XD

To be fair, not all of mine were bad! But several of them really are not good, and each dud represents 200k+ treasure I could have gotten (assuming they are actually selling for the price listed right now). I have three more eggs in my hoard that I haven't hatched yet and I'm not sure what I'll do with them yet. I REALLY want to hatch them but now I'm afraid to do it. X'D

Hatchie luck aside though, NotN has been great. I got almost all of the Strange Chest items (I just need like three more apparel items). I got all of the Baldwin items. Got almost everything excluding gem stuff, some of the treasure vistas (which are just really expensive) and one set of treasure apparel (I'm too broke lol). So with all of that out of the way, next year should be a breeze!

I've been wondering the same thing, actually, if people are even buying the eggs at all :O Maybe you should save them for a rainy day? XD Bahaha!

Nothing, they're free, I'm just glad you love them and that I won't have to figure out what to do with them lol! But I will say, if you hatch any with Radioactive that you don't like, even if they're really clashy, I'd be happy to take one of those. :D

Thank you soooo much! <3 <3 One of my new years resolutions is to work on my dragons and get them all dressed up and pretty! <3 Those two are definitely at the top of my list. Going to play with them in the scrying workshop and hopefully it won't cost me a fortune to gene them up XD It probably will though. The genes I love are expensive. I will definitely let you know if I get any with radioactive! I'm going to clear out my fodder dragons starting after NotN and then I'll hatch the eggies I got :3

I bet they will actually turn out great. I have faith in you to make them look nice. :D I do like orange/red and blue combinations, it's just the terts that really ruined them for me. I know I could just not use the tert but then I feel like they're unfinished, especially on first-gens. I don't know, sometimes weird things just bother me for no good reason haha.

I suddenly realized I wanted a hatchling born on January 4th so I ended up hatching two of my eggs (I'll keep the first one but it wasn't what I was looking for). Second hatch turned out good. And I kept one more unhatched egg for St. Paddy's Day. Hopefully I'll get something nice and green. :P

I actually think I came up with a great plan for the male you gave me ^0^ I named him Gabriel. And it shouldn't take me too long to get this one done either happy dances XD SO excitedddd! Going to work on the female now :3
