I am officially ready for sexy naked zombie party aka Survival B)
Waiting for Survival to start:

Starting to get a bit annoyed now. I'll accept a day late, but two is pushing it.
haha yeah, I wasn't even annoyed when I woke up and it hadn't started, just resigned XD I still don't understand why they won't just tell us when it's going to start. It would prevent a lot of agita!

- I agree, I really wish they'd just tell us so we can stop being disappointed by the other news they post. I feel bad because it's making me not like the Pet Spotlight!
Anyways, yesterday one of the staff commented when asked when it would start: "Mid-February, so expect it sometime this week." So..... at least it is in the works but still no direct answers about what day. Hopefully today. fingers crossed
That is hilariously accurate!
I know what you mean! I think we're all getting to the point where every time the news bar pops up we all expect it to mean the start of the event (understandably so!). It's great that they're sticking with the event start being mid-February. Other events have a specific start-date that the team shares with us, which is great! Just not sure why they're keeping the start of this event all hush-hush.

(Wakes up) (Checks subeta) Honestly????
bird and bear and hare and fish give my love her fondest wish
Hopefully today will be the day, although it might make more sense to have it start on a Friday so IDK.
I just hope we still get around the same amount of time as in the past. ;~;
I'm hoping we get the full amount of time too. If they wanted to start on a weekend, they could have planned to start last weekend just as easily :/ A few days early beats a few days late in my book!
[tot=bapkate]
They've never gone to such extremes to start on a weekend before! Why would they start now?
I'm really hoping it starts today. Ideally within the next hour or so, so I can get myself an infection before my first class starts. crosses fingers

You'll make your real friends,

I'm just trying to be patient because I know complaining won't make it start any faster. I'm sure they have a reason for why they're waiting to start it, they know how much people love the event and it would be unlike them to just randomly do something without a plan.
I will lose access to real life on the 27th so excuse me for being a bit sad about the late start just this year. I was so looking forward to Survival as the last holiday I can enjoy before my personal journey through hell and now...I know you cannot cater everyone but for me this is really bad timing. Q___Q
It's ok to be bummed that there was an unexpected/explained change to the scheduled start of the event ^_^ I think everyone's still really excited for all of the zombie bites, candy hearts, and floating flowers to come our way! I know I am!

Honestly, the biggest thing that pisses me off is that we do this for practically every event. That is, we non-staff get our hopes up for so much, only to be let down at every news post and every hour passed expectations. And you know what would fix it all? If they freaking announced the start... if you had told me on Sunday that Survival would start on Thursday (frelling hopefully), then I would've been bummed with the late start, but overall a crap ton more cheery through the week. I wouldn't have spent Monday hoping, Tuesday expecting, and Wednesday praying. Our energy as a whole could've been spent sharing HAs and theorizing together, rather than refreshing the item directory and getting crushed at every news post.
The first time this event happened, it was a spontaneous event. So no, don't announce it. But we're approaching the 9th annual now. Even if there aren't zombie strains, we are still expecting a holiday of flowers and kissing. There is no reason to keep the start a secret. (They could've just said "Thursday night start" instead of exact time.) (And again, hoping like hell that it's tonight.)
So yeah, I'm frustrated. There are about 8 full pages of people anxiously waiting for the event we know is coming, and them all being sad when another day passes. Our time should've been spent having fun and chatting. Not being bummed out.
[Edit] Reading this again, I know I sound terribly ungrateful. And in a way I am. I love the site events, and survival is by far my favorite. So my comments are out of frustration. I know we aren't owed an exact start, nor are we owed an event at all. So sorry about the anger. Just wish we'd get on with it already. I've been refreshing like mad for 3 days now.
Yup, this. I'm trying to figure out how anyone gains from keeping the start of a regularly scheduled event secret.

Which is exactly why my mind automatically jumps to the thought that there must be a glitch or problem behind the scenes. How am I to know if the wait and intended, or if they planned to start two days ago and it all went to hell.
(I currently don't think that there's a problem judging from the excitement from the scattered staff posts, but there's still a slight nagging.)
I can only come up with two reasons why an event might be delayed:
Actual content issues. They're still waiting for some content from the artists, or there are some programming niggles. I can see why they wouldn't announce that to everyone, but at the same time, I'd appreciate a little comment from staff somewhere about a small delay, but that the wait won't be too long. That's cool. Staff work had to come up with cool stuff for our entertainment, and I'll let them have a bit of leeway.
It's all part of the japes. The whole "keep 'em hanging" before an event thing has become a bit more established over the last few years, and I worry that it now involves just straight up making us wait longer rather than just a bit of teasing with news posts. I don't mind the news posts in the run-up (extra content, can't complain), but I don't like being excessively toyed with because a staff member finds it amusing.
Either way, if it doesn't start today, there'll be riots.
survival is one of my favorite site events, so i've also been sitting here anxiously waiting for things to start already. i'm just glad that the new news trolling has calmed down. that only stays funny for so long.
in the past it's been stated that staff prefers not stating specific dates in case of last minute changes or difficulties, and i'm not sure if that's something they'll change their mind about. i think that might be why there's a delay now, but i can only speculate.
anyway, i'm still really excited! i was a '09 virus and my favorite part has always been getting to watch the strains progress with other people on subeta, seeing whatever goofy names pop up. each year i ended up curing so i could join in the fun again. (eyesore, brain rot, then blistered hearts) i was so happy when we were able to collect whichever strains we wanted. i think this year, i'd like to collect all my old strains but, uh... it'll be hard to be excited about going through eyesore again. :P
while i can't say for sure when survival will end this year, i would expect it to run the full two weeks that it usually has before. i don't think starting later will effect that, event extensions are not unusual.
Think I said my piece, so I'll only respond to the most relevant part in your post. God damn eyesore... I get that bugger for a year, only to cure and get heartburn the next day. And since I was a perma-zombie, I kept that crap for another year. I feel your pain. I would love to have the strains I wet through, but at the same time, how about no.
Survival is one of my favourite events, on Monday I could hardly contain my excitement for new items and possible strains. That excitement has now worn off and I dunno, it's hard to explain. It's not that I don't care any more, but I'm not jumping at each new news post or as impatient as I was. It's more of a 'oh, survival, that's cool' instead of a 'ahhhh, survival!!!' kinda feeling now.
I'm all excitement drained ;o;
