I try to use it every turn.

I just tried Mecha + Gauntlet, then eight turns of Gauntlet + MW later, it activated (no scrolls used). It seems to work consistently, but what does it mean 😂

What does the gauntlet do? What is special about it? It's listed stats kinda suck for a T11 weapon.

- Ah, I see. Still seems pretty lack-luster to me. Might try to test it a bit more later, Crithbolcan and crawbeast seem like a good opponents to try it on. I need to do more BQs.

It looks like added 1 :dmg:physical: and 1-2 :dmg:wind: to it since yesterday so it did get slightly better 😛 I must be in the minority because I like it a lot. Wish we could figure out how to activate it, though.

- I guess it'll be good for T11s that need a water blocker since MW is T12. I'm not a huge fan of the attack icon spread. Maybe just need to play with it more. Maybe once my T10s become T11s :P

Well, went into battle 10 with 0 losses, and now I have 5 :( Win might not happen for me.

Water is one of the very easiest icons to defend, especially after you hit T12, there are tons extra MWs that just sit in trades unsold for years. SoSS is availible for sp in an evergreen shop. There are people readily willing to lend out SoSS to tier 11s. And it is comparable in defensive potential to frostbite amulet, if the opponent also consistently deals magma. Frostbite amulet kills the gauntlet in defense if the opponent does not do magma.

This completely ignores the fact that you need to do some kind of ritual to activate its mediocre second form.

I did the swap. Unfortunately I could only add one more fatal fire and a perilous whirlpool unless I ditch a cobalt, but those have been useful for me.

nah I gave up trying to figure out how to activate it when the activation was so mediocre.

I own an SoSS, so for me this weapon will never be used, even if there was no pre ritual to activate it.

Yeah with a SoSS you really don't need any other water blocker. It does make an awesome looking wearable....hmm...

MW and SoSS are expensive and you can't borrow them indefinitely. I don't particularly like Frostbite Amulet because it doesn't heal, but I can see how the extra water icons and freezing could be beneficial. I just don't see what is wrong with 35-42 icons + 8% heal going to 42-49 icons + 11% heal. Is that not fairly standard for T11? The defensive icons aren't the best, but if it is rereleased next year (+ it isn't tied to an achievement) and becomes more affordable, I think it would make a decent choice for T11 battlers.

I think you are undervaluing defense. 70-80% of a weapons defensive potential comes from the defense icons. a 2000 HP pet using a 11% healer heals for 220 HP. a 2000 Defense pet defending with a 100 icon blocker, has the potential to block 1100 damage per turn. The bigger your pet the better the ratio gets for example a 10K HP pet would heal for 1000, and would defend up to 2500

Frostbite amulet in the right circumstance is like 30% more damage reduction than the guantlet in most scenarios you need a water blocker for. As long as the opponent is doing water every single turn, which many water challengers are set up to do. Frostbite amulet will block more than Gauntlet will heal + defend. If the opponent doesn't do water every turn, then the gauntlet is better, but so is any 8-10% healer, and there are already a lot of budget options. Maxing out at 60 defensive icons is a HUGE downside.

To me the upgraded stats are so underwhelming that nothing else really mattered, but when you take into account the fact that you need to do some kind of ritual to get to those upgraded stats, you don't average above 10% healing until turn 15, and even then you cap out at 11%. And you give up a LOT of defensive potential.

If to make use of the upgraded version you need to wait until turn 15 to see a benefit, after jumping through a lot of hoops, why not just borrow a SOSS/MW instead. Also, many people that can win a gauntlet already probably own a MW.

Okay, I see your point and will definitely put more thought into defense when I battle. But what defensive stats would you have preferred to see for the gauntlet?
