"I'll do me best, Gaia," he said beaming. "Don't worry, its not a big meetin' till Monday. Just playin' with some nifflers." He watched his friend flit off.

Aderyn ran out into the courtyard just in time for the start of the Care of Magical Creatures club meeting. She grinned at all the familiar faces she recognized and waved to Magnus. She was excited to see what he brought to the club as its new captain. As the sign up sheet made its way around, she pulled out a quill and penned in her information.

Passing on the sheet to the next student, she moved towards the nifflers, holding her hand out to one to coax it out of its box.

"'Llo Aderyn," he said coming up to her smiling. "If ya need anything or whatever lemme know. Oh and make sure ya don't 'ave any rings on, or 'e'll try ta take it off ya," he warned.

Emmy ran down to the meeting with Aderyn, squealing with delight when she saw the nifflers.

"Hi ," she said, waving at him before taking the paper from Aderyn and quickly writing her info:

Passing the paper to the next person arriving, she checked herself for any jewelry. Realizing she was wearing a necklace, Emmy unhooked the chain and slipped it into her pants pocket. Emmy then hurried over to the box and picked up a niffler, giggling as it sniffed at her face and nuzzled her affectionately. She stroked its back as she held it, watching as Aderyn reached towards a nearby one.

"Wait, Addy!" Emmy yelped, realizing that her friend was wearing jewelry. "Take off your silver earrings, or it will try to grab them out of your ears!" she warned her, indicating the niffler she was reaching for was already starting to look at her ears with interest.

"Llo, Emmy," he said beaming, "like the nifflers, eh?" He was so pleased everyone seemed to be really happy about his choice of animal for his first meeting as captain.

"Hello Magnus! Thanks for the heads up!"

Aderyn wasn't accustomed to wearing rings, so she wasn't worried at Magnus' reminder. She was just reaching out towards a niffler when Emmy, who'd arrived with her, caught her attention. As she glanced at the suddenly interested niffler before her, she realized that while she'd heeded Magnus' words, she'd also had a gross oversight - she'd totally forgotten about her earrings! Reaching up, she swiftly pulled the posts out of her ears and tucked the angel wing earrings away in the pocket of her robes.

"Thanks! That was close!"

Now denuded of her jewelry, Aderyn tried again, reaching out to the niffler once more. She giggled as the niffler immediately took to her, sniffing at her hand and then scampering out of the box at her, circling her feet. She stooped down, petting the little creature and glancing over her shoulder at Emmy.

"D'you want to see whose niffler brings back more gold?"

Emmy breathed a sigh of relief as Aderyn heard and heeded her words, tucking her earrings into her pockets.

"No problem. I didn't want it to rip new holes in your ears!" she laughed, scratching her niffler under the chin and smiling as it made a gurgling noise of happiness.

Watching as Aderyn selected a niffler, Emmy set hers on her shoulders and nodded at () Magnus. "I love nifflers, they're so sweet!" she told him, smiling.

She walked over to the plot of dirt with Aderyn and smiled, narrowing her eyes in determination.

"You're on!" she said, taking her niffler off her shoulders and looking at it directly in the face. "Find me lots of gold, alright?" she told it, and it wriggled happily in her grip, which she took to mean it understood. She put it down at her feet where it bounced excitedly, waiting for her instruction.

"Alright, on three... one, two... THREE! Go!" she told the niffler, who let out a chattering noise and ran forward, diving into the dirt.

"Sorry about not thinkin bought ya earrings. Don't 'ave any. Glad no one was 'urt. Yeah they are cute and really sweet. Alright ladies, I'ma gonna check on the other's. 'Ave fun and if ya need me, just 'oller."

"No worries! I forget I wear them myself. See you soon!"

Having waved Magnus off, Aderyn picked up her niffler as it scrambled up onto her lap, holding it close to her chest as it snuffled around her neck, clearly looking for the earrings it had noticed a minute or two before. She walked to the patch of dirt with Emmy and held her niffler up to eye level, meeting it's gaze as it squeaked happily.

"Do you want to go on a treasure hunt?"

As it wriggled excitedly, she laughed and gently set it down, watching it sniff toward the dirt patch.

"Okay, on Emmy's mark! On three!"

As Emmy counted down, Aderyn's niffler crept forward a little, finally dashing ahead as Emmy called out the number three. She laughed as it dove into the dirt and waited excitedly for it to surface again with it's haul of treasures.

"They're adorable!"

Jasmin stood up, getting bored at watching nifty dig. they were cute but not very entertaining. she started walking around talking to the other students, trying to get to know them

Paddy rushed over to the group, cursing under her breath for being late. She'd hoped to arrive early to her clubs, but her puppy had decided to chew her shoelaces to shreds so she'd had to repair them before she could leave the dorm. Spotting the club list, she pulled out her quill and wrote Paddy. Pets: Mouse the Barn Owl, and (I still haven't named her yet) the Samoyed puppy. Still interested in Hoot Club too

"Hi Magnus," she said, as she spotted him wandering around the group "congrats on being the new club captain! I left Mouse in the Owlery, and the puppy is hopefully not chewing through more of my shoe laces in the dorm, as I thought it was safer to not bring them along for the first session."

Paddy thought the activities Magnus had planned sounded fascinating, although she was a little uncertain about his werewolf plans; being a werewolf herself, she knew the professors wouldn't give permission for two werewolves to not be taking Wolfsbane for that moon cycle, so she knew it was likely that she'd miss what could be an interesting three nights.

Not wanting to be thinking of the next full moon quite so quickly, she turned her attention to the creatures Magnus had brought along. "Are these Nifflers?" she asked.

"'Ello," he replied brightly, "probly a good idea. Your pup might wanna dig which would be a problem. Still 'aven't named her then?" He nodded at the crates, "yep. Dug some 'oles for 'em to play in with some fake gold buried. Don't worry they are all very even tempered. Aint gonna bite ya." He spotted the new girl walking around and waved her over. "This here's Paddy," he said. Remembering her name from seeing it on the list, "Paddy, this is Jasmine."

"Nope," she replied, "I think I need your help at finding a name for her, otherwise she'll end up being known as "don't chew that" which wouldn't be all that good. I've only ever seen pictures of them before, they look strangely cute, in a weird kind of way."

Paddy looked over at the new member of the CoMC club and smiled, "Hey Jasmine, () has that Niffler had any luck in the dirt pile yet?"

"You could name 'er Wolfsbane," he said with a mischievious smile, "if she's annoying ya. Or maybe Snowden on account o' she's white." He pondered for another idea or two. "Cat cos you got an owl named Mouse. Or er...Lola. cos o' Hello..."

'Hi paddy! he's dug up some gold and a little box, so I'd call him pretty lucky. I heard about your dog, i had one too that would chew everything up. but cant stop loving em right?' Jasmin laughs and points at tyto looking at nifty. 'My owl is tyto and ive called the niffler nifty. im not very good at names as you can tell!'

Millie waved back to Gaia. "Hi Gaia. How was your break?" Millie asked as she placed her niffler on the ground and watched it scatter around

Aria waved at all her classmates as they came into the room and fond their niffler. Rora, Aria's niffler, was making herself extremely busy with the shiny metal chips she was collecting. Aria glanced away from the pile and back up towards Dax who was staring intently at Rora. Aria could tell that he wanted to pounce on Rora and play with her, either that or spoil her carefully stockpiled treasures.

"Don't even think about it, Dax," Aria said in a near silent whisper. Dax looked up at Aria and ruffled his feather in mock innocence.

Aria smiled and looked back down at the pile of objects that Rora had been gathering. She was surprised to find a shiny () prefect badge hidden amidst the other pieces of metal junk.

"How on earth did you get that!?" Aria said with surprised amusement. Looking around she spotted the prefect, who was enthralled by her niffler. () Sam had been so caught up watching her niffler that she hadn't even noticed when Rora (presumably) stole the shiny medallion. The only other option was that the badge had accidentally fallen off of Sam's robe, after all, her niffler had been so eager to get it.

Aria waited until Rora looked away from the pile and quickly snatched up the prefect badge. Aria walked over to Sam and handed her the badge, "My niffler had this in her pile of treasures." Aria smiled and watched as Sam's niffler eyed the badge with a great deal of yearning.

Sam looked at her robes in shock as Aria brought her badge back to her. "Thanks! Wow, I can see how these cute little monsters could turn a house upside down."

Paddy chuckled at the thought of calling her puppy Wolsfsbane. "As much as calling her 'cat' would be comical, I think Snowden would suit her really well. She has a mountain-like personality as well as snow coloured fur. Thanks!" Picking up the sheet of parchment again, she crossed out her previous comment and added Paddy. Pets: Mouse the Barn Owl, and Snowden the Samoyed puppy. Still interested in Hoot Club too

Smiling at Jasmine (), Paddy added "she's still only a puppy so I'm hoping she'll grow out of chewing things, but at least she's leaving my homework alone now. Tyto is a great name for an owl, he looks really stunning!"

Remembering to remove her prefect badge and metal hair clips, she walked over to the Nifflers and picked out one that looked eager to dig in the mound. "Ready to go digging?" she asked, before letting it leap into the pile, sending dirt flying as it eagerly searched for gold.

As per usual Fade was running behind. He had slept a little bit too much and was still struggling to catch up with the rest of his day. Vacation had been a blast, having spent time with two of his friends families, the fatigue hadn’t caught up with him until his head hit the familiar pillow of his dorm room bed.

Stifling a yawn he grabbed his things and hurriedly made his way to the first CoMC club meeting of the third term. There were already a number of familiar faces gathered around Magnus (), who Fade was surprised to find assuming the role of club captain. Looking past the gathering he read over the creatures outlined on the chalkboard and caught his breath. Secretly unicorns were one of his favorite creatures to study. It had almost been too much to handle over break when introduced him to the family of magical equine living on her parents property.

Taking the sign-in sheet he quickly scribbled down his information : Name: Fade Eventide Pet(s): Bengal cat named Chase

Leaning over toward the table that had been set up, Fade’s eyes lit up. Nifflers were incredibly interesting from what he had read, but he hadn’t ever had the opportunity to see one in real life. “I read somewhere that you should take off your jewelry when handling these little guys. They are very greedy.” He wasn’t talking to anyone in particular, but was speaking loud enough for someone close by to hear. Scooping up one of the creatures Fade carefully set it into the pile of dirt and watched as it quickly took to hunting for some treasure.
