Thanks. I need some luck. -feels very disorganized... is very disorganized- I have way too many projects that need work, and I foolishly thought I could start on this one first. I have realized that the story world is way too in-depth for me to finish any of the stories any time soon. (This is my oldest project, the one I wanted to have a 1st draft finished for by November of this year... SOOO not happening... It has turned into an epic, pretty much.) I intend to get the important stuff figured out with this one this month (always an element of the plan) and move on one that is much less complex in August (part of the new plan), one that has certain constraints in place so it can't become a monster like this one has.

If I get nothing else out of this, I have at least realized that my oldest concept doesn't need to be done first. It needs to be done properly. If I can finish other projects in the meantime, then I should get on them and get them done instead of trying to force them onto the back-burner, so to speak.

LOL My biggest reason right now for changing my word count is aesthetics... Buuuut... Committing to finishing this monster synopsis may be the goal I should strive for anyway... And a 25k word synopsis, even though it is really a world synopsis not a single story synopsis, would probably be a bit overboard. XD

Uuugh shitty work day does make it hard to write D: Some food and some rest (or at least not-being-at-work) might help?

I have one of those... I'm too afraid to go back to it. The amount of unorganized, desperately-in-need-of-revamping information is like a mountain that I'm pretty sure would bury me alive if I tried. You have ALL of my respect, dude. SALUTE

- Heh, yeah, I know how that is, your story turning into an epic. My first nano project did that, worked on it for nano 4 years running, still wasn't done, gave up :P I'll probably revisit it again eventually, maybe I'll try re-writing some of it for nano this year, maybe not. 25k even just for work building is a bit much. World building/history is what I did for camp last year, got about 15k words, so that's probably a good goal.

- worked on some art yesterday instead, which made me happy, and now that that is done I can focus more on the writing. Unfortunately today is lining up to be just as bad as yesterday. OTL

Maybe someone can help me out here... I feel so damn stupid for even asking or getting feedback on this but ever since I've been reading more and more these past few months I've noticed something in quite a few books.

When an author mentions another person not the main character (or characters) they will often repeat the full name (well first and last if that person has both) nearly every time they mention the character. To me that just ... it never made sense to me? Unless it's to show great respect I can understand that but it's bothered me to see the full name being repeated.

To me it seems like they are scared we're going to forget the person's full name... but how the heck can you when you JUST mentioned like 2 lines ago? I'm sure there's a reason for this, if it happened sparsely I'd not even be asking but I've seen this in quite a few books.

Is it normal... are you supposed to do that? Is there a reason for it (ruling out respect if someone has high power like a King or Queen) Sorry guys I really hate asking stuff like this...

I managed to get 3 days ahead of par and then this weekend happened and it was busy and I wrote a grand total of 0 words. Time to regain lost ground... bleh.

I've noticed that there are some authors that do that (Rick Riordan immediately comes to mind for me), and I'd need to pay more attention to it when it shows up, but... I know that Riordan has a habit of referring to characters by both just first name and just last name in dialogue, so that could be part of a reason why so many (especially minor) characters are referenced in the prose with their first and last names. That's the only reason I've ever been able to come up with... (I agree though it's pretty jarring once you realize it's happening.)

No problem! It's just my assumption, though, so no idea if it's true or not. It's just what I tell myself so I don't get pulled out of the story every time I read it :)

- Well, I'm still sitting at just over 1000 words. Ugh, haven't been able to get the motivation to write. I've MADE the time to write, but I just haven't been feeling it :( I've got to write about 900 words/day to get finished before I go out on vacation.

Boo :( I'm sorry! That's totally doable, but it's kind of a scary goal...

- I'm going to go ahead and blame the weather, I just want to go outside and sit in the sun and write, but every time I get a chance to write, clouds roll in and it starts to rain. It sucks.

Oh, ugh :( That's really frustrating! (on the topic of weather, I wish it would rain out here. We could use it.) I've been writing mostly on breaks at work and I'm at about 5500 words currently. Overall, the whole fic is over 7500 words and is easily going to be the longest thing I've ever written with the intent to post for others to read. Kind of scary tbh.

Ah yes, thank. Seattle needs rain! That sucks though that your weather seems to be choosing just the wrong days! Ugh.

Well I /just/ finished writing up a short story for my best friend. We were discussing something and it got my thinking... so I started typing and next thing I know I have a little story done up for her. It's nothing huge but it's the first piece of writing I'm done in months. ;-;
