Would anyone be interested in starting up a group for continued writing, something that would give weekly goals/exercises to be shared for criticism (or not shared if you so choose) After nano, I'm going to need some sort of motivation to keep me going.

I would love something like that yet I am horrible at groups and coming up with things to motivate people... x.x

I'm the worst at being and holding other people accountable, but it's nice to have a little forum like this to chatter about things sometimes?

- The idea would be that I could run it, and hopefully other people can help come up with ideas and prompts and stuff.

- That would be the point of the group though :P To have people to help you be accountable for getting your creative juices flowing and working on writing projects. This forum is nice, but it's not actually getting me to write more OTL.

Hmm sounds like a plan. I might have some ideas kicking around somewhere. Who knows right?

Yeah, I just know that I don't dare "commit" to anything right now. Real life is kicking me hard and I cannot even begin to say how glad I am that I'm only poking my word count on the NaNo site as a "I wonder how much I can still write in a month when everything and the kitchen sink is being thrown at me" and not actually intending to win this year X_x

- the goals could even be simple things like, take an hour this week to write. :P And then maybe have some month goals, or monthly story exchanges

- That's ok. RL can be a jerk sometimes. If I start something up, you could always join and participate when you can/feel like it too.

You could set up time frames for when you want to write. Say between 7pm to 9pm this is your writing time. Put all distractions away like games, phones, ect. and just give yourself time to write.

You could also find some music or a book you might enjoy, listen to the music or read a chapter and just see if that gives you inspiration first.

Good luck! Hope what I said makes sense.

That's a hard question. Different techniques work for different people for staying focused.

For me, I have to put in my headphones. I turn on one song and put it on repeat (giving my ADD brain some background noise, but since the song doesn't change it doesn't catch my full attention too often - though I will admit, this is how I gave myself a Pavlovian response to Pentatonix's "Daft Punk" and now every time I hear it I feel like I have to be writing.)

It works best if the television is off or I'm in a room alone, but since I live in a small apartment with my fiancee and she likes to have the tv on for background noise around the house, I've learned more how to tune that out. But she and I have talked and she knows that when I tell her I'm going to plug in and write to please not interrupt me unless it's important.

I'm not sure if that'll work for you, but that's me :)

- I'm planning on trying to start up a writing group in the new year to help encourage each other to write more, and have writing exchanges and exercises and stuff to keep us motivated. I wanted to start it in december, but early december I was still getting of Nano stress, and now I'm into christmas stress, so it won't be until the new year.

I really need to get back into the swing of things after the holidays. I was doing so well and then I just stopped. Bleh.

- Same. I've been taking the month off of writing though, but hopefully in the new year I can find the motivation to write again.

I've been writing like crazy 'cause I signed up for a Dragon Age Secret Santa thing and decided to write 2 things for my person instead of just 1. Because obviously I'm a masochist. Hopefully the second, much longer, fic will be done in time D:

Yeah... I finished one of the two and it was only about 850 words, but the second one is significantly more involved and will likely end up around 4k. Plus I still want to write at least 2 more 500-800 word things for a couple friends and another ~1k for another friend. But while all have a "Christmas" deadline I feel more obligated to finish the SS gift by the 25th than the others...

Why did I decide to write something "E" rated as a Christmas gift this was probably a mistake ._.
