- Home, and have eaten some. :) Time to get writing!
By some bizarre twist of fate I wrote almost a full 1000 words yesterday and actually caught up to and passed my daily par.
How the hell did that happen? o_o Still not sure.
- Go you! I wrote just over 1000 words too, unfortunately, I'm 2000 words behind still, but it's a start, and I don't really have a goal other than just writing, which.... I haven't really done, so yeah, still behind on goal!
I set only a 10k goal, because my ultimate goal is to get this (planned) 4-chapter Dragon Age fic finished. Chapter 1 is done and before typing is about 3800 words, so in theory if I can use NaNo to prod myself into writing every day on it I might be able to meet the 10k goal with this fic. Which would be rad. As long as the fic gets done!
Are you working on the story you told me about before, or something new? :)
- I put 10k as my goal too. I'm not working on any of my big stories this time around, just wanting to write some character back stories, and some side stories etc. Maybe if I get a good start on those, I'll continue my comic story.
The Camps are pretty great for getting background stuff together and working out characters, since you can select a smaller goal than the main NaNo. I hope you're able to give yourself a jump start!
- Yeah, so my goal is actually 10 short stories, if each of those stories ends up being 1000 words, great :)
Oh, nice! That's a totally reasonable goal if you ask me :) And there's always a possibility that someone will run long and someone else might go a little short, so they make up for each other.
- Or as is likely with me, they will all run super long and I'll only get 4 of them done :P But who knows, maybe I'll get to writing them and they won't be as long as I thought. If I get 10 character stories done, then I might switch over to my nano project.
lol I suppose talkative muses can be something of a problem sometimes. But it's all good, right? more and more info!
- Not so much talkative as wordy :P And it's not them, it's me. :P
Home now, time to write. anyone want to word war with me to kick me off?
Oh, well dang. That's slightly less helpful I suppose XD But it's still words you didn't have otherwise, right?
For the record - writing combat is really hard ._. At least this is my experience. Why did I decide to do this?
- I didn't end up writing at all yesterday :(
Yes, writing combat is hard, at least if you want it to sounds good, and not just 'He punched, the other guy dodged and then punched back."
Whoops! Well, we're going into a weekend... or wait, your weekends are like Monday/Tuesday, aren't they?
Thankfully it's not the MC who's in the really important combat, so I get to sorta gloss over the major fight a bit and have him quickly picking off anyone who would interfere in his LI's 1-1 duel. I get to play with his anxiety more than I have to write actual fighting, so that's something. Still, the little bits I do have to write probably suck XD Such is the writer's life!
- Yeah, my weekend is monday/tuesday, and I've got a bunch of other stuff to do on those days this week. Hopefully I'll get some writing done over the next few days. I'm really sad, my region is actually doing a camping night this weekend for camp nano, and I can't go because of work :( It would be awesome to actually camp for camp nanowrimo!
Lol, just highlight the first blows and the last blows and the end result :P
Oh man, that sounds really fun!! I'm going to be camping in the middle of the month, but not as an actual NaNo thing... that's so awesome that your region is doing that! Hopefully you can sit down and get some words out at home or wherever you choose to go to write!
Pretty much! The beginning of the fight, some vague references to it and the key points of what's happening (hearing a shout, seeing blood around them, etc), and then getting back to them just in time to see who's victorious. It's cheating, sure... but I'm hoping it's effective enough for what I need.
-peeks in- I'm still writing though I am currently trying to decide if I need to change my goal for Camp NaNo. I mean, I had in my head I'd work on synopses for my 5 most solid concepts but I am still working on the big, bad alien project with all its backstory and pertinent information. I think if I am not finished or nearly finished with it by July 15th, I'll probably go ahead and call completing it my goal for Camp NaNo and dial back the word count to a more reasonable amount for just working on it... Maybe 15k instead of 25k.
I don't think I want to update my word count until I am sure what I am counting, so it is likely I won't start updating that again until the 15th. -stares at little bars which are well below the line and pouts- Kinda bugs me, since they are not all neat and orderly, but meh, I'm going to try not to let that get to me too much.
[edit] 15k word count goal makes it look a little neater. -leaves it at lowered goal- LOL
Hey dude! Long time~ Good to hear you're still writing! I hear ya on watching the progress bars... that might be my main NaNo love: Seeing progress actually happen. I can see what you're planning with that, though! :)
Hey hey! I was wondering what happened to you! Missed seeing you around. -nods-
I am struggling to make progress because what I'm working on right now requires a lot of referencing of old random notes and digging around for relevant information in books and on the internet. I also have no idea how to organize it all for later reference so there is a certain amount of re-organizing that is going on as I move from aspect to aspect. (That is, copying and pasting and elaborating as necessary. No deleting or rewording of stuff already written.)
I'd really prefer it if I could work on making notes on concepts that are very vague sometime this month at least. (Maybe try to make that the last 5k out of 15k... I don't know.) I don't think I want to work on any of the other major projects if I can't start on them by the 15th though, because I don't think it would make me feel very accomplished if I finished out the month on a project that wasn't quite finished. LOL
