Hey Everyone,
I haven't been on here much since I started college again. A lot, and I mean a lot, has happened since then. For starters, college is going well so far. I'm enjoying the freedom to get the assignments done on my own time, but they still have a due date.
Work is an entirely different story and I'm seriously rethinking my choice in companies to work for. While I was drawing a patient's blood, my other coworkers' patient threatened to shoot up the whole building because "we did not know what the F**K we were doing." We all stopped and looked at him, scared to move or say the wrong thing. We did not know if he had a gun on him or not, or in his car, or anything. The patient was already agitated before he walked into our phlebotomy rooms. He walked in and started to grab the door to get back to the drawing rooms, but that door was always locked for safety reasons. Once he said it would not open, he signed into our kiosk, and my coworker went out to bring him back. When she opened the door, he started flipping at her, saying he didn't know what he was here for and this and that. My coworker calmly tried to help him, and he got angry and violent. He threw his folder at her and then threw his phone as well. After the threat was made, my coworkers were thinking to get him out of the locked area as quickly as possible. He left, and we called out the supervisor and asked what to do cause no one knew if we should call the cops. We ended up calling the cops, and because of our location and it being on the border between two counties they had to send a state trooper out. One that was and hour away. The cop did not get there till 1 hour and 10 minutes after the guy had left. Meanwhile, the doctors' offices, also in the building, evacuated within five minutes of being notified of the threat. I was forced to stay in the building until the cops showed up. After they arrested him at his home, we stayed close for the day, but I was sent to another location to work the rest of my shift.
The whole situation was not handled in the manner it should have been. Neither the officer nor my company took it seriously. They are still not taking more appropriate precautions because of the threat. We are still working alone. We can not see into the lobby before opening that door to call patients in. I am very, very upset about the situation and how it was handled. This whole thing is making me want to quit.
- :O :O Should he really be driving? Is there any way you can get him to stop? Ugh, that is one reason I hated to drive when I lived in Florida. You never knew who was driving around you. You really should try to stop him so he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else. :/ I'm glad he was amenable to the dentist payment. :D
I'm glad the guy didn't end up shooting the place up as it took so long for the police to get there :'(
He shouldn't be driving at all and he doesn't respect me enough to listen. I live around an hour away AND I depend on keeping him happy for financial reasons so there's not much I can do.
Yeah, that is what pissed me off the most. The police were not there quickly, and the rest of the doctors' offices were cleared out within five minutes of hearing the news of the threat. But we had to stay and then return to work after they still had us closed down.
- You don't have a security guard there in the building that could have helped? In this day of active shooter threats they really should have handled the whole situation differently. I'm not saying to quit your job, that's a decision you have to make, but I would seriously question my further employment with that company as my life is more important then their work schedule. x.X
- I understand, hon, and comiserate with you. That truly does suck. :(
Tomorrow I'll be calling the dentist to work the procedure out. I love being an adult xD
- I hate, HATE, the dentist so I do not envy you your adulting right now. I'm just happy that you'll be able to pay for it now. :D
It was the gunshot that set Jash on edge due to it being an unusual sound in Skyrim. But who shot the gun ;)
Also feel I need to explain the Ma'zargo joke as it requires you to know about Khajiit honorifics. And I doubt you've dug down that rabbit hole.
Khajiit names are done in this format [honorific]'[name]
J indicates a young male bachelor. Ma is a gender neutral honorific indicating a child.
We don't have any security for the building. We don't even have cameras in our lobby and hallways. I have been rethinking my employment there for a while, but this was the topping on the cake for me. I'm thinking of getting out of the health care field altogether. I do not believe that is the correct field for me. I am enjoying my psychology course, so I may go somewhere in that direction. I got to thinking about going for a social work degree. I can go into a lot of different jobs with that degree.
WTF? No security? In this age of constant shootings?
I'm getting back into Flight Rising. Been away for two years and they still haven't added PvP battles xD
Yep, I guess the company does not feel the need for them. But we deal with unstable patients all the time. Yes, we draw their blood, but they can still have a mental break, and anyone can walk into the building with anything.
I have worried about Kimmie442 way before this incident even happened. When she broke her foot I was driving her to work (Im her mom if anyone doesnt know) in the early mornings and she would be the only one there for a few hours. Its dark out and then to be able to walk in there and sign in and they cant see them in the waiting room UNTIL they open the locked door to call the patients names. U never know who is in that waiting room. They could sign in with any name, and just wait for their opportunity to strike once that door opens. I use to sit and wait til she got into the building but she said she was fine in there. Well sadly thats not the case. Not to mention its all females working there. Not that women cant be strong. But if anyone wants to cause harm, they would take that place over one with men working there. I said they should have cameras in the waiting room and a screen in the back that they can look at to make sure everything looks ok BEFORE they open that door! I know sometimes people who r nuts look normal but at least its something. I mean they dont even have a panic button to hit incase they need something. They have absolutely Nothing. Plus they cant keep anything personal in their rooms. So she cant even have a heavy object to hit someone with or anything to use against someone. She has small items in her pockets now to try and help herself..... I dunno With all the shootings and stabbings and all the bad crap that has been going on in this world lately, ya think they would try to help their employees a little better. Ugh.....
Hey all.....
Just came on to toss in my 2 cents about what Kimmie told u all. Im around doing my quests. Nothing really good or new for me to share lol I live a boring life LoL :-)
Hi everyone. Still skulking around, just not feeling very chatty lately. Love to all. <3
I love the Khajit, and this song is great. Miracle of Sound
OMG how scary and awful! It is stupid for the building not to have cameras everywhere at least. And the whole thing was incredibly just wrong. The length of time esp, and then having to go back in? No no no. Psychology was my major, (nope didn't finish) and you can go into many fields with a degree, as you said. Some are safer than others. Depending on where and in what aspect a social worker can be a rewarding job. But they always seem to be stressed, overworked, and underpaid. And being a social worker and going into private homes is NOT safe. Just my opinion, but you don't like dealing with people or being in a crowd, so I'm surprised you said social worker. A counselor could be neat tho. You usually only work with one person at a time, and that can be interesting.
It was terrifying. My job is still not taking it seriously and is not putting protective measures in place. With a social work degree, I don't have to go into social work. I can work in hospitals, mental health agencies, advocacy organizations, verteran services, aging services, counseling centers, family service agencies, group homes, government, homeless assistance programs, hospice centers, addiction treatment prgrams, child welfare agencies, schools, assisted living and nursing homes, domestic violence, adoption agenices, military bases, residential treatment programs, and community organizations. I was thinking of primarily working in the schools, the government, or even counseling. There are so many different jobs that I can go into with just that degree alone. Definitely have a lot of thinking to do about it. The medical terminology course I am currently in is driving me up the wall. There are so many huge words that I have no reason to know, especially with my current job as a phlebotomist. If I do not continue to be in the medical field, I shouldn't be taking this course. However, I also need to know if I can pass the psychology course before making a big decision.
I am document everything and saved all his letters, cards, etc. Even his doorbell ringing last week. I got a letter from him in my mailbox saying he is sorry and saying he should not tell me to move. But he is not saying sorry for all the other stuff he did. It's getting hot under his feet and he is trying to get in my good book. Not helping. And in the end of the letter he says i hope the rental company can come up with a solution... grr! He is the problem and he is shifting it to ours and the rental company has to fix it.. sheesh!!
Still no word from them for a meeting... taking there time.
It's my dad's birthday today, 74!
omg! how horrible, some people are just insane. No security or camera's. Work must be safe, Hope you are ok.
how are you doing after everything?
I'll listen to it today :)
Love their Disco Elysium song. Perfection.
First time playing I had a hard time deciding between playing an Argonian or Khajiit.
I hope the letter isn't used to help him not face any repercussions.
What an impossible situation! The stress should not be at your home. That should be your safe haven and place to relax and enjoy. Hope that man is dealt with soon. It's ridiculous that it's been so long and more has happened because of it. As far as the doorbell thing, my guess is they won't do it independently because you don't own the building. But they might if you can get the management to ok it in writing.
I'm doing ok but stressed as anyone can imagine. Thanks for the hugs and prayers. It helps. So does the jokes. :)
I know and agree. As far as medical terminology, that can be rough. But, it is the basis for all subjects relating in any way to the medical side of things. Esp down to writing and reading reports of different individuals and their problems. Once you learn you will always know at a glance what it pertains to, and then can get a gist of the problem quickly.
I took Latin in High School, because I wanted to be a doctor and most medical terms and words are based in Latin or Greek, or a hybrid of both. It is all memorization really, but if you break down the words, you know what it relates to. If you learn the root words you know what subject, and then the prefixes and suffixes tell you specifics. For instance:
I looked up Psychologist. Result: Psyche: This is a Latinized version of the ancient Greek word psychē, meaning "soul," "mind," or "spirit". Logist: This is the Modern Latin suffix -ista (from the Greek -istes), which refers to a person who practices or is an expert in a specific field of study. So if you know Psych, you also know Psychology, Psychosomatic, Psychometrics, Psychotic, Antipsychotic, Psychiatry, and Psychoanalysis etc all deal with the same subject of the mind, but in different ways. The add ons to the root tell you more.
Anyway, best wishes for whatever you decide to do, and keep at it. The knowledge you learn will help you in many different and surprising ways. It is all worthwhile. :)
- Not sure if you remember me, I just came back from being gone for 2 years and yours is one of the few I recognize! So wanted to stop in and say heeey

, I'm doing ok. My dads pretty sick, he's now battling double lung cancer. Happy to be back and have some distraction from the outside world. Pretty excited for Morostide. I have soooo much to do on my account. I apparently loved shoving stuff in my vault for no reason and I badly need to clean up my wishlist lol So I've got some things to keep me occupied for a bit. How are you?
