Am I not seeing how to collect today&;s MM or did Melody forget to distribute at midnight?
ahh ok. That's a bit of a relief to know I didn't mess something up, Melody is just taking an extra long nap tonight. I'm sure the team will fix it when they see this.

I wonder if we're in the same group. 😂 Fingers crossed it's fixed soon. I'm like a little kid and log on right at midnight to check and rejoin for the next day.
It's not rolling over for me either ;; I'm patient tho, I'm sure it'll be soon!
Everyone in my group contributed 5 items, and it didn't release for me either. I think Melody must be really tired is all. :)
Mine also did not roll over.
Melody better put on her specs! Again nothing from my WL, rofl. Yet none of my items returned, either.
Very poor outcome today :-( - , but also very poor input (with exception of - I guess - 1 other participant). Several 1-4k, mostly 100-200k. I lucked out and got a retired pretty Subeautique, yet alas I own several of that, lol. But that's the game.
Oh, today I got two inexpensive (100-200k sp) wishlist items (I assume) from Melody!
I'm also seeing a lot of SubQ invites. I wonder if people just like those because they're easy or Melody is preferring them for some reason. Hmm.
...I got back an item I put in? There were no duplicates in my group, so it's not due to that.
not to be a dudley dursley, but everyone in the group contributed 5 items and melody 8 and I only got 6 back 😭
Day four:
I feel that the item pool was more even this time, as far as price of things contributed. I think this may be a sign of the things working that should work! I also did not receive an item back. This is a plus!
Oh, boo. I had internet issues and fell asleep and didn't contribute to my poor group. That said, Melody did indeed punish me as promised. I received the one item she gave me - a 5 point wizard token. hehe!
Been in my pool now for about 5 hours and nobody else has put anything in.
I'll wait until almost reset and I'll remove them.
So far, everyday has been a little disappointing. First day was pretty fun, everyone participated with 5 items and I got back 2 WL and 3 other items (not sure why only 5 total?)
The last two days have had flakes, and really low value stuff (wouldn't have minded but it's like they went to main shops and clicked 2 random items)
Today if i noticed nobody contributing I'm gonna replace everything with
What if we were to make a thread where we show what 5 items we're submitting, to try and encourage people to sign up? Like, "here's some items I'm contributing, if you end up in my group, you might have a chance to get them!" But I guess that takes away the surprise and fun.

Piggybacking off , what if you had to submit the items in order to join a pool? So you'd select five items first, then click "join pool"? You could still add/remove during the day but this way it would help prevent wandering off and forgetting. In theory the user could just remove most when they get in, but maybe a check-point at three items? Like "Oops! You can't have less than three items in the pool. Please add another before removing!"
That said, I've had stellar results all three days. I didn't receive my own items back; usually ended up with at least 1 item >1m; everyone fully participated. There was one day where someone's five items were all 2-3k sP and weren't on theme, but because everyone else pulled their weight it was barely noticeable. I'm pretty confident in upping the item costs of my inputs.
(All numbers are rounded)
Items put in: 274,000sP 540,000sP 795,000sP 824,000sP 1,300,000sP
Items received: 2,000sP 3,000sP 10,000sP 250,000sP 443,000sP
I know that at least half the point is the fulfillment of giving gifts to others (indeed, I've been enjoying the gifting process, especially when I find empty trees, at least as much as I look forward to seeing my own tree on Luminaire Day), but also there's a part of me that feels that other people are seeing an opportunity to be scammy and taking it, which is pretty at odds with my experience with the average Subeta user.
I don't know how the algorithm is algorithming right now, and if the refinement via smart-pairing is online and doing its thing (maybe I should read back through Keith's commentary to see), but I'll certainly give MM at least one more try before stepping back from it.

I haven't necessarily had any "oh my gosh that's amazing" goodies, but I don't really expect that! I think I've gotten between 5 and 7 items each day and they've all been pretty good. They usually range in price, some days being in the low 100 - 200k but usually between 500k and 1.5m. In general I probably get 3 items that are lower in price point than what I've put in, and 2 that are in the same "range". But I think folks are also figuring out what they feel comfortable putting in. In general I think folks have put something in pretty quickly in my groups, but there may be some delay.
I think Melody intentionally grabbing a WL item for each person that's priced around the average of what they have contributed would be nice, that way when other users drop the ball everyone still gets something they will truly want! So less that she's getting items that are randomly assigned (I think that's how it is atm) and more that she's getting an item FOR each person?
I know Keith also suggested that how we engage this year may be used to create "groups" for next year, and based on what that says can be done with the data it sounds like next year groups could be created based on what people are doing over a few days. Which is a nice way to make sure people are still willing to participate - they may have a poopy few days but if they tried to really bring spirit they'll for sure be put into a group with similar input within a few days!
smart pairing isn’t live yet—we need about a week of data before we can start doing matchmaking based on past results.
right now, we’re tracking a daily “score” tied to your pool. i get that it’s frustrating when the distribution feels off (sounds like you might’ve gotten stuck with low-value items from one person), but after melody processed everything yesterday, most items (~90%) were valued around 200k.
i’ve been making daily updates to improve things. yesterday’s changes included:
today, i’m working on improving value matching so contributors ideally receive items closer in value to what they put in. that said, edge cases still exist, and if you contribute the most or least, your results may average out over time. hang in there—it’s getting better! 🙃

i’m working on melody’s items today too, but keep in mind—it’s 12/12, and she’s got to budget for buying presents for hundreds of pools every day for the rest of the month! i can’t have her blowing all her sP in the first few days just because people felt like tossing in items worth 5 million sP. she’s shopping from user shops, which is fine—puts some sP into the system (not a huge amount) but also eats into her own spending money.
back in the day, she’d just wave her hands and poof an item into existence, but i’m really trying to cut back on that kind of magical generation to keep the item economy tighter. might loosen up on that a bit though, who knows. 😏
