I don't care about the receiving. I have been a fan of the OG MM for many years. If you pull up my previous statistics on it you can tell that I am a huge giver. I give more every year than I receive, Melody aside, in every aspect.
It's been 4 years of a few broken promises along the way on this project. It feels almost like a completely different thing altogether and calling it MM is maybe a reach to me now because it's just completely different. What would be nice though is to even have some of the expectations met on what this could be. My sister didn't get a WL item either and had a poor first experience as well as others have stated here and that drops my expectations on this first day.
If I would have received an item on my WL back worth even 50k I would have been happier with the process. The whole fun of the OG process what the cute little notes and banter you could send back and forth to each other. My friend and I somehow strangely met through the process in a round about way MANY years ago. She is still one of my absolute best friends on here and incentive for me to still even stick around. I wouldn't even know her probably had it not been for MM. While that wasn't it's intended purpose, it brought me a sense of community getting that back and forth active banter even if it took a week to get it.
This feels more like a chance machine to me now.

sorry i know i have edited this post like 5 times but i thought i would structure this with better feedback.
that's all i've got! it's interesting so far and i'll probably try again but first night felt clunky.
i'm not too fussed about what i'm getting out of this but in case it's relevant to refining your Algorithms™, here's how the numbers shook out in my last group:
two of the four users in my group contributed 0 items (the other contributing user and i both added 5 items each, while melody added 8). not sure if the others forgot, couldn't figure it out, or just didn't feel like adding anything lol.
of the items i received, two were identical copies of the same item, and it happened to be one on my wishlist—so either 1) melody sent two of the same item that was on my wishlist; 2) melody sent an item on my wishlist and by coincidence the other user also put that same item in the pool and i happened to recieve both of them or 3) the other user put two copies of that item into the pool, i just so happened to recieve both, and it was coincidentally something that i had wishlisted. not sure whether or not that has any implications programming-wise but figured i'd put it out there.
FWIW, my gift pool was completely full from all users. I received 7 gifts, 3 of which were my own returned to me and 1 of which was a WL item, and all were of appreciable value.
(The lowest-valued item I added was worth 90,000sP. When I do a shop search, it's still showing at roughly that price, but the quick info popup shows the "recent price" as 2,000. I've never seen such a discrepancy before and have a mild concern that it'll negatively affect the algrithm.)
(ETA: Another item I received - - is identified as a Cash Shop item in the popup, but not in shop search, which I've also never seen before.)

i didn't get to participate in yesterday's MM, but trying to put together my list of presents today...
as someone who isn't a hoarder (i clear out my vault constantly and put everything i don't need in my shops) it's hard to think of what items to gift! i don't have many expensive/nice items to give, so i ended up having to buy items specifically to donate for MM. i found myself thinking "it would be really nice if i could put in an sP amount and melody would do it for me". maybe you could say how much she can spend for you, and she'd try to find 5 items that sum up to that amount, buy them, and assign them as My Gifts? i'd love to do it that way instead of buying random items in the hope that it's something people want!
otherwise, i love the idea and i'm looking forward to the surprise of seeing what i get!
Slightly different feedback here-
I love the broader implications of this statement. And I personally would enjoy more characterization of Melody, or any hypothetical future NPCs, if there's room in this system for that in the future.
I just love lore.

I'm one of the unlucky users that only got two items back, despite my group having a pool of 23. I really hope the algorithm won't always be this unfair. I'm going to keep participating for a least another couple of days, but it definitely dampens my excitement.
There's also a strange glitch with the date.

Agree! And you know, if that NPC is Jack Cardale, all the better!
As for my Melody feedback, I didn't get a chance to try it yesterday, today is my first day. I dropped my five items right away, but after reading some of the feedback here and the advice on the feature, I switched one of them for a cheaper option (8mil to 1mil) and I'd like to report that I was able to do that successfully! It was a little confusing, though, at first the contribute button kept greying out whenever I selected my new item, I had to refresh the page to be able to submit it.
I like this idea a lot, but i do miss the human factor of the old MM. It used to give you the option to send basic greetings when you sent a gift. Some of the fun MMs I had in the past even sent cute little responses with the letter ornaments. I am glad that MM is back and that melody is not yanking unpriced items out of my shop x.x;;
Yesterday, two of my partners contributed 5 items, and the other gave 2, while Melody gave 8, so I'm glad that everyone participated.
Today, it's 5 items across the board for everyone, and 8 from Melody. Participation has been amazing for me, so I can't complain.
I got 7 items - most of them were cheap, but three of them were over 100K.
I didn't get anything from my wishlist in the pool, but I did get something I didn't think of putting on a wishlist, which is imo ever better. Thanks to the person who put that specific item in - it helped me a lot!
Initial thoughts:
I LOVE the integration of NPCS. We have come to love our fake pixel friends, and having ways to interact with them is just so fun. I think this has such potential and I'm so excited to see how it expands as things get settled or tested a bit more. Melody buying items is fun and I cracked up about her going over budget.
I think having more users, and the ability to group in time with people who invest similar amounts as you will be amazing. I know in the past that was a huge letdown.
I wish we could send anonymous messages to the group, even if canned or limited in some way. (I know we don't want to be able to give people clues about who we are.)
I participated in my first, and also joined so we could compare notes. We were definitely in different groups.
She bought items that were 300K or less and got 3/5 items that were 500-2 mil, which was super awesome.
I put in items 600-1 mil, and got items worth 1K-20K, and a double of one of the 1K ones.
Obviously, it's going to take the system a while to learn who is spending what, so I'm not worried about it. Just recording the experience. Joining again today and we will both buy in the same price brackets and see how that goes.
Thanks, , for your continued work on the site. I know it's been a trip at times, but as a long time player, it's seen and appreciated!

As said, I also entered. I got 5 items, several worth near a mil, plus a WL food item for my pet. I spent around 300-600K sp and feel like overall, that averaged out in my items. All participants put in 5 items, and melody put in 5 as well this time.
I'd like to see anybody not putting atleast 1 gift into the pile get nothing in return, that's what I've always hated about MM, I swear I only ever matched people who would send nothing back.
Hope there will be something done with how some people don't put any gifts i think thats a bit scummy
Just letting someone know... I was a part of a fully participating group yesterday. All participants contributed 5 items each. Upon distribution... I got 4 of the pool items and then a random item that was NOT listed in the pool. I'm not mad, it was a good item... just wasn't expecting it... and somebody might want to know. :) ...k, bye...
