I have my second appointment for my finger tomorrow. I seem to have made a little bit of progress, even though it is slower than I would like. Impatient here.
I have yet to test if crocheting would work. I have been busy lately, and not had much energy for crocheting and other hobbies. I just end up vegging in front of the tv instead. :P I must just ask my PT if he thinks knitting or crocheting would be okay tomorrow if I can remember it. ;)
Well, the moths not laying any eggs is what you would want. I am sure there are some synthetic ones that are soft to walk and looks nice. You are totally right. It is likely he would try to scratch on them, at the least they would end up being covered in fur. Easier to get fur off my wooden floors.
I am sorry you have had an aunt infestation. Hope you can get rid of them for good. I had that too in my flat, it was not fun. O_O My dad were able to seal off the place they would enter, with silicone, so not had any unwanted visitors since. :knocks on wood: I also bought traps with poison in them, that they will take back to their nest. They are cat safe too, so it worked out.
Awesome that you are getting more lessons. :D I bet you will be able to play more advanced pieces in no time. :)

at least you're making progress though, but I know what you mean - when I hurt my wrist (never do kickboxing with someone who gets muddled with their left and right!) it never seemed to be fast enough to get back to where I wanted to be :P
Vegging in front of the tv is always a good idea ;) What's your favourite thing to watch at the moment?
The one we got for Grandad's old flat is really plush to stand on, so I might end up going for a similar one for my flat eventually :D
I was planning on going to my flat this afternoon (a neighbour had kindly helped transport a piece of furniture there for me, so I wanted to move it int the right room), but when I want to get in my car the footwell on the driver's side had standing water on the carpet :K
(that was taken after we'd tried putting cardboard down to soak up the water)
Thankfully I'd got a carpet cleaner that can be used to remove water like that, but I spent an hour (removed about a litre of water) and it's still wet now! In the boot, I noticed the carpet was wet on one side, so I had a thought to just check the spare wheel.... there was water under the spare wheel too sigh And going on how rusty some of the tools are in that section, this isn't the first time it's got wet!
So most of the bits from the car are in my parents' garage, and my car is full of paper, cardboard and 'waterproof bed mats' (they're marketed for kids, but because the mats actually absorb moisture, they come in useful in the car to try and draw more water out from the carpet).
What's most annoying about this, is that the garage said they'd resolved the problem with the water coming into the boot.... but despite charging me a lot for that, they don't seem to have fixed the problem at all! :K

Just letting you know that I might not be able to get online today and forward until at least Friday. This is due to the fact that we are in Helene's path. We've already got a tropical storm watch, thunderstorms and some winds. Our utilities are buried at least so that should hopefully help. And unfortunately for me, I am having very serve weather induced migraines. yesterday I was knocked down for most of the day. It was awful.
yes I'm holding the vinegar in reserve but if I need to, I will use that in the bathroom. Its not the best smell but at least I'm not allergic.
totally sucks, doesn't it?
hmm I wonder if It was something more akin to what they sell on Amazon. They look nice but the violins are not easy to play and end up making the person believe it's them, rather than it being the other way round. That's one of the reasons violins are so expensive. Cheapy ones just can't get the job done :/
good luck with that
our weather is going to be erratic for the next several days. But its like 71F out at the mo. OH NO! I thought you finally got that sorted :( would it be cheaper to sell it and find another one? Or is that really not in the cards at the mo?
glad you got rid of them :D sounds like you had a successful ant exorcism lol I hope so. LOL getting rather bored with Mary had a little lamb :P
hopefully the storm will pass without too much trouble (and the migraines won't want to linger either) squishes How do the cats cope with thunderstorms, or aren't they too fussed?
Apparently white vinegar doesn't smell as strong as malt vinegar, but honestly I found they both smelt much the same! I got a cheap water spray bottle (like the kind you'd mist plants with), and just put neat vinegar in there to spray on the window frame ;) You can water it down a bit, but I thought that neat vinegar would probably be more effective ;)
It definitely was a cheaper brand from what I've seen.... if it wasn't for my shoulder not liking the angle to hold it (and struggling to look at the violin to check where my fingers should be - I had to look under the rim of my glasses, which then was all out of focus :P), I probably would've stuck with it a bit more, and maybe got a better one ;)
I'd like the temperature, but not the weather you've got heading your way! :P
Honestly I thought it was all sorted as well :K Certainly I can't use the car until it's fully dried out, so this afternoon I'll be using the carpet cleaner to try removing any more water from the carpet, then checking under the back seats too (just to check the water in the boot didn't creep anywhere else). Mum wants to contact the garage (main dealership - not where I bought the car, but they did the service & MOT, plus the repairs) to get them to have another look, but I've not got any confidence in them at all :K I'm wondering what the floor pan of the car is like under the carpet, considering how wet the carpet was, but there's not an easy way of checking that (unless I can ask the little garage (or even the local MOT centre) in the village if they'd mind having a look)....
I did have a browse online at different cars yesterday evening, but the disadvantage is that all cars that size seem to have this potential water problem (regardless of the make). I did wonder about maybe seeing if I could trade in for a newer model of what I've got (they redesigned it a few years after mine was made), but they'd be about 6000 quid (not counting the trade in value of my car), and there's no knowing what problems that might have lurking! You can check the MOT (annual check once the car is three years old) history online for the car if you know the registration number, so I've looked up a few I saw for sale - some had clutch problems, and a couple had oil leaks over the years o.O
[edit] And it's now started raining, so I won't be using the carpet cleaner! I'm hoping to find a point where the rain goes off for long enough for me to check the car over and replace the paper / bed mat things

This will be my last post in a while. I am leaving for a trip to Dublin on Saturday at what I like to call stupid 'o clock (or rather the flight is scheduled at 6am). lol Mum will be here tomorrow, since she is sleeping here until we leave together in the morning.
Raven: Ant exorcism. lol I like it. xD I called them little assholes. I hope you stay safe and have no damage to your house. Sorry you are dealing with awful migraines on top of it all. :hugs: Take good care.
Paddy: Yikes, your kick boxing accident did not sound fun! I bet they felt bad hurting you, even though it was not on purpose. These days I am watching cooking shows like masterchef Australia for the most part, and some reality stuff. Sometimes shows like Grey's anatomy and The resident. ;)
How frustrating that that they such a poor job at fixing the issue with your car. :K Getting everything dry seem like a less than fun task. Were you able to sort it out eventually? I hope the garage can fix it properly, without charging you a lot of money this time.

oooo have fun in Dublin! That's one very very early start for a 6am flight though! How long are you in Ireland for?
At the time I didn't realise I had injured my wrist - it wasn't until I was driving home afterwards that it felt sore, so the person I was training with was totally unaware of it.
Cookery shows can be really good, as long as it's not the celebrity ones where they drop the food on the floor then just pick it up & serve it anyway o.O
I checked the car today, and it's almost dry (I've got more pieces of of those bed mats on the carpet just to draw the last bits of water out), but the inside of the car door has a rust patch at the base (which I was unaware of), so there's clearly more moisture in the car than there should be! We got the spare wheel back in the car, but I still need to get in touch with the garage (probably next week). I just hope it doesn't rain too much before then, otherwise I might need to be drying the car out again!

We got home last night, so we had 6 days in Dublin. :D Such a charming city with loads of beautiful architecture and things to see. We did plenty of sightseeing. A museum that had a lot of Viking history (of course the Vikings came to Dublin), Dublin Castle, Leprechaun museum, hop on and off bus and lastly Dublin Zoo. I did get pretty sick on Wednesday so we had to stay at the hotel. I had the worst sore throat (about as painful as when I had my tonsils removed o_o) and most likely a fever. Starting to get better now. We watched a lot of game shows that day. :P Of course I went nuts shopping at Penneys which sold really cheap Primark clothing. Tried traditional Irish breakfast and traditional lamb stew. Both really good! Even venison pie!
Sometimes you don't notice the pain too much right away, probably the adrenaline. I also hate it when people stick their finger into the food to have a taste when they are doing cooking shows. Eww. lol
Were you able to sort out everything with the garage? I hope you did not get too much rain this week. We had some in Dublin, but mostly nice weather. :)

you packed a lot into 6 days! And Primark has some really good value stuff :D That's a shame you weren't well with such a nasty sore throat though :( I'm sure that bugs like that tend to wait for the point when you're on a holiday, before they strike!
Ewww yeah that's definitely a 'do not' for me with cookery shows! My Gran worked as a cook when she was younger, and she hated watching cookery shows because all the female cooks had their hair draped over their shoulders rather than being tied back out of the way! ;)
I went with plan B with the car - I traded it in for a different one laughs This one is a newer model, so it's only got a risk of leaks in the boot (the old one could leak from the boot, any of the windows / doors, and also from the aerial!). It's taking a bit of getting used to (the clutch is slightly different, so I need a bit of practise I think), but it's definitely working better than the old one so far :D
Thankfully the rain wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was previously, although they're forecasting more rain for next week.

Primark sure does! We stumbled across it by accident, and ended up with several bags filled with clothes. :P A lot of pjs and other stuff we use a lot. I am better now, even though my throat is still feeling a bit scratchy.
When I worked with food, I always kept my hair in a pony tail. No one likes hair in their food. I have to agree with your Gran, I hate seeing that too.
Oh, congrats on the new car. :D Which make/type of car did you go for? Hopefully you have a good spot to park it when you move into your new place. I never even got my drivers license due to my vision problems, but thankfully public transport is good where I live.

hopefully you found enough space to store all those clothes when you got back! :D Hopefully the scratchy throat will ease off soon squishes
nods or when the cookery show contestants have their hands over their faces then so straight to cooking, without washing their hands first o.O
I'll sMail you a pic :D There's a parking area at my new place, and although there's less than 12 parking spaces (there's 12 flats), at least 4 of the flats don't have cars, so there's usually plenty of room ;) If those spaces are full, I could always park in front of my garage :) Public transport isn't overly great here.... we get a bus service into town, but they keep changing the times for the busses, so they aren't as frequent as they used to be.

I did manage to cram everything into my closet, granted it is getting pretty full. :P I put some winter coats in storage, that helps. Will bring those out soon and put some of the lighter jackets into storage instead.
Yeah, touching your hair/face is also not great when you work in a kitchen. O_O Never liked seeing that either. It is hard to do these things without thinking though.
That is good to know that there are usually enough room for parking. :D A bus is no use if you don't know when it will be there. o-o I can see why you want to have a car. :)

that helps with being able to store the out-of-season things separately, especially coats seeing as they're likely to be quite bulky! ;)
And if they do wash their hands, I wish the programme would at least show them at the sink, rather than making it look like they didn't bother :P
Some of the areas around town get a more regular bus service, as they have a lot of student accommodation so the bus is vital to get them to the universities.... but there aren't many students on this side of town, so they don't seem to think there's such a great need for a decent bus service here! o.O

:nods: I have some very bulky parkas. I suspect it won't be too long until I need to start wearing them. It is starting to get colder. Especially during the night.
:nods: They rarely ever show any hygiene at all. It is not the most interesting thing to watch, but it is an important thing to teach people.
There are still people that needs to go to work, school etc though? O_o We get a bus every 7 minute here during the weekdays (expect for nights). 15 minute wait at the most. Pretty good if you ask me. And it only takes 10-15minute to get into town. :D

it was pretty chilly last week, but today it's warmed up again.... it's currently just gone 7pm and it's still 17C outside o.O But wet, muggy & windy so it's not all that pleasant :P
nods there's a couple of schools nearby, so there's busses for the start & end of the school day, but I think they tend to now be once every 20 minutes at the most frequent. They used to be every 12 minutes (but we had two different routes that would run, so really it was more like every 6 minutes). Usually it's the other side of town that gets prioritised, as they like to show that they can get the students to the University (really not sure why they choose to prioritise them), although during the summer break they don't run many busses on that side at all, which is a nightmare for anyone living there who uses the bus to get to work!
Yours definitely is a brilliant service! And not too long to get to town either :D

Muggy and windy describe our weather a lot of the time. :P Today I got drenched during my walk. lol But not much to do besides put on proper clothing.
They want people do drive less for the environment, but then they don't offer proper public transport many places. Does not makes sense. Sounds like you might end up needing your car. :) Since I live in one of the largest cities (small compared to large cities in some other countries, but still) we have descent public transport many places.

I'm sure the weather waits for us to go outside without an umbrella, then thinks it'd be a great idea to rain really hard while we're out :P
nods our council have this fixation that everyone should cycle too.... but the city is built around lots of really steep hills, so unless you're mega fit, or can afford (or want to hire) an e-bike, you don't really stand much chance! The city as a whole isn't massive, but it's not all that small.... I think it'd help if they didn't focus all their attention on the university areas ;)

It is often too windy around here for an umbrella to be practical. :P So raincoats it is!
Not everyone is able to cycle like that, but some people refuse to understand that. O_o E-bikes are quite expensive too, not everyone is going to be able to afford one either. Sheesh. Granted, cheaper than a car. For me I struggle with cycling due to my balance, I just don't feel comfortable on a bike anymore sadly.

and that saves the risk of putting the umbrella down in a shop and losing it :P
I've seen some nifty looking three-wheeled trikes, but they're probably heavier than regular bicycles (or have less gears), which might make them a lot less practical anyway. I used to ride my bike quite often when I was a teenager, but although I've kept it, I haven't ridden it in years.... partly the traffic makes the roads too busy, but also I don't have the stamina!

Just like people do with gloves. So easy to forget them somewhere. Been there, done that.
There are some electrical three-wheeled bikes too I believe, but of course then I would need somewhere to charge it. But it would be nice to be able to bike without worrying about losing balance. I don't like being in the middle of traffic either, nor do I have the stamina to bike up steep hills so an electrical bike would help with that too. 👼

Dad always seems to do that with his gloves.... then doesn't realise until he's been in five more shops! I tend to wear fingerless gloves, so I can keep my hands warm but still do things without needing to take the gloves off ;)
That's true - if your storage area doesn't have easy access, or if there isn't a garage or anything where you could park it to charge it, that'd be a lot more challenging! nods I'd looked at a bike with an aluminium frame before, as that would be a lot lighter than my old bike, but if you added in suspension they seemed to then be almost as heavy as the bike I had o.O
