Hahah yea cooking or baking, especially from scratch, makes a giant mess of a kitchen. When I sweep I make sure I pull from the edges out into the center of the room - but yea, hair especially gets stuck in crevices!!
Katie made Nathan an apron for his birthday - since he'd asked me for one - she took a sewing class for one of her electives at college, and so she made it two sided (two peices she later sewed together) with pockets, and bleached a design into each panel, then dyed it with rainbow colors - the edging ribbon she used was rainbow colored too. The designs were a chibi lion and an adult lion on the other side. Then she sewed the two peices together with the ribbon edging. Its very cute. She also put his name on it on both sides. He loved it. The hilarious thing to me is, she just asked him what animals he liked, and he said lion - but his birth sign (zodiac) is Leo - the lion!! :P
I have such limited counter space in my kitchen, it's not even funny. Never had much bigger, tho. I make do, when I bake odds and ends but making large meals has always been challenging. Multiple part meals, also.... like kebobs - having several items to chop up, keep separate and then keep them in an area where you can pop them onto a skewer was the most recent pita I had.
Omg that apron sounds SO CUTE!!! I love home made things. I'm sure he knows his birth sign and probably relates to it in a sense (I know I do as a fish b/c I LOVE water and swimming.) What's his Chinese zodiac sign? Mine and my youngest are rabbits and my oldest is the rat. (You can find it by year here if you're interested.)
Bought s/thing from the TS so I won't be able to help until my time is up if anyone needed/wanted anything.

He is a dog according to that link. I knew I was a snake, but didn't realize my daughter also is. And I looked to see and my oldest is a tiger. I'm a Gemini, and I always wished I had a twin lol ... I put my kids zodiac signs on my profile here for fun, and kind of a way to let people know I was an adult player ....
I do not need/want anything this time from the token shop. Unusual that. I normally need something!!
<3<3<3<3 Thank you!
I'm a tiger, which is always weird to me. But they are water cats, so.. maybe?!
We have no counter space either, I'm always moving things out of my way and putting stuff in teh sink. There's no room to clean as I go, either though, because there's nowhere to put the dishes to dry because the counter is still in use :P
Made Lily some shirts this morning!
SPOILER (click to toggle)
Then the girls and I went to the orchard. Butterfly and Blooms is happening now, the flower fields are gorgeous! I got up close and personal with a sunflower, at the very least. And Lily took an entire photoshoot of pictures :P And then she did Frell, after. And we picked flowers and rode the carousel and other stuff such. Then I came home and took a hour and a half nap instead of helping Alex with dinner.. whoops.
SPOILER (click to toggle)
And now I'm designing a shirt for my FiL to wear tomorrow, he won concert tickets, and the radio station has this contest where if you wear a "jump me" shirt, they'll jump you up to front row possibly. So Working on that now :P They'll drop the shirts off tonight.
And then tomorrow is... redacted, because I amy as well give out my address LOL. But it's a small town celebration of our one and only celebrity, so there's a parade, and fireworks, and I have TWO shifts, one in the friends of music stand with Frell, and one at the womens civic league booth selling baskets. Iz and I dropped our baskets off the other day when we were out.
But there will be a parade, and free ice cream, and there's people selling dinners and there's live music and stuff, it's very fun! And Lily and Iz are selling glow sticks for the library again. They did it last year, too, and made a good amount of money!
Annnnnd.... IDk that's what's going on in my world :P
Sounds like you are having a fun weekend and last week before school stuff starts up again!
Me- I get to go do my regular shopping, run up to meet hubby to get gas for the car, run up to meet son and give him his mail, and then spend the rest of my time cleaning house oh - and playing online hahah :P You know I'll be doing that.
There's actually another few weeks before school starts.. but band camp is next week from 2-7, and the week after from 2-8:30 so.. that cuts down on the fun time :P
Next week though, we're going to Corning again, to celebrate Matts birthday. Then the week after that, we're going to the orchard with everyone again, so that'll be fun. And to celebrate D's 18th?!?! birthday!
That sounds awful Kat :P
I need to make these shirts then run to the bank. Blech. :P
Its just the house cleaning that is awful. But it needs to be done, and I'll feel better when it is done, because I do like it when the house is cleaned :) I just hate cleaning it. Just got in from all my running around - Walmart, done. Getting gas - done. Meeting son - done. Ingles - done. Now going to go vacuum my bedroom/hallway and then work my way back out to the LR - and make son mow the grass and mop the kitchen since he spilled his energy drink all over the floor (to be fair, he did clean it up, but now I feel the floor needs to be mopped also) :P
16th birthdays are fun, 18th birthdays are crazy. 21st are crazier. Nathan is 16 now, Katie will be 21 in Nov. And Shane will be 24 in Dec. HOW????? :o
[edit]
here is the apron : (remember its on facebook) :P
SPOILER (click to toggle)
This last one you can kind of see his name, near the top.
PICTURES!!!!!! Omg so much <3 <3 <3 Love the sunflower pic, . Love the other ones and have to ask, do you have a Cricut? YAASS love the apron! What was used to paint it?
Mieke I'm going to tell you again that I envy the orchard you are close to. Such wonderful events they have! Also seems like you have a nice community that you enjoy being active in.
Kat - know what, I still haven't done shit. Glad you have the energy to. Most of the weekend was rainy so I only did trimming - which with my new trimmer made my arms sore for days (still sore but usable now, lol) - and water the indoor plants that are outside. While my kitchen awaits the cleaning, I really need to shampoo the dog, first. His skin has gotten extremely dry and I think the water baths I gave him didn't help so now he's all itchy and uncomfortable.
Today I had the second part of my deep cleaning of my teeth, which is probably worse than when I had my wisdom teeth extracted at 17. I have to go back in 6 weeks for a regular cleaning, and then every 3mths for the first year. Last year was the first time I went in close to 30yrs b/c I hate how much our society pushes for "perfect teeth", which I don't have. (Americans are obsessed w/ perfect teeth which is why other countries are given names like "English/British teeth" when in fact, it's b/c they care less about "perfect teeth".
So anyway, I went last year b/c I thought I had a cavity. Turns out it was just a plaque buildup, lol. I haven't had cavities since I went, when I was 17. Now the thing is, I took my daughters to their checkups/cleanings but never did so w/ mine b/c I never saw the reason for it. Had my first deep cleaning last year and was supposed to start that very frequent cleaning and I just didn't b/c that shit hurt and it made my front teeth very sensitive. Start again this year and have to do it all over again b/c those cleanings are for plaque buildup which travels down below the gumlines. Ok, got that part understood.
Today after my session is done, I'm sore, in pain (even tho I was novacained) and just want to leave, the lady says I probably have extra calcium in my saliva. While I would normally question people on such random things they say, I was sore and just wanted to leave the 45min long torture session.... not to mention her Indian accent is thick and w/ the mask, it's really hard to understand her.
I eventually look it up and yeah, it's a thing. Apparently it's the reason why I've had no cavities, my teeth are healthy and also why the plaque I get hardens much faster than 'normal'.
Yeah, weird shit the human body does. That's genetic stuff, too. Hey, I'm happy to have at least one good quality to my teeth. I have no reason to straighten them (especially at my age) b/c it's all aesthetics and there's no way I want to pay off thousands of dollars on my looks. ;)

She used bleach to "paint" the images. Then she used tie-dye dyes to dye the bleached parts. I got the LR vacuumed, the dresser in my bedroom moved, the bedroom and hallway vacuumed. The dishes done (after telling off the teenager 3x to come out and redo). Need to shampoo the carpet but that didn't get done. Maybe this upcoming weekend. I also went out and used the weed-eater to weed-eat the dog pen (or part of it anyway). I did also make the teenager go mow the lawn.
I didn't go to the dentist for years either. Had a bad experience at about 12yrs old, mom struggled to get me to go to the dentist after - I think I went 3-5x between 12 and 18. This one dentist when I was 15 really helped me get over a HUGE part of my fear, but even still now - I have to deep breathe and try to relax myself for anything other than regular cleanings. My regular dentist's office is really good with me like that one was too. I also had to do some deep cleanings when I started back going to the dentist regularly (I didn't go for YEARS after I had kids). It wasn't fun :( I did do some cosmetic work for my teeth, but not braces or anything. I had a tooth that cracked/broke and then I had to get it pulled along with several other teeth. This one was in the front tho. For years I ignored the space even tho I hated it. Then once I was able to save a little and use my health savings I got a bridge put in to fill up that space. I like it WAAAAAAY more now :) I still have another space but its not as noticable (a little further back, on bottom not the top front like that one) and I probably won't do anything with it-that one was pulled too can't remember why for it. The other/last one I had pulled was a molar in the back because my wisdom tooth impacted it (had the wisdom tooth pulled too). Yay for good healthy teeth. I have periodontis or owhatever, they keep giving me nasty tasting toothpaste to use to help combat it but I don't use it because its sooooo nasty. I use the regular toothpaste instead. Bad me. But the other makes me GAGGGGGG
I love the apron, Kat! The bleach/tiedye effect is so neat!
We do have a pretty cool community, there's generally something happening. Because in small towns, someone always needs money :P But I really do enjoy being active in it!
At... the event, the other night, I realized how thankful I was that I joined the food pantry team, because that made me join the civic club... and as I was walking around, or sitting and selling, I know so many of the people walking by, and we all stopped to talk, and last year, I only knew a few.. mostly who I went to school with :P
And let me say.. the fireworks were great!
I have a silhouette, it's like a cricut. :) I've had it for.. ummm.. IDK a long time now. 10 years or so?
Hey, I don't think what you had done was cosmetic. While insurance may argue, one lost tooth (that needed to be pulled for whatever) makes the chewing load harder on the others. Geez why does our insurance have to be so ridiculous!
Another thing that always aggravated me... the fact that are teeth started to become crooked with the era of agriculture. So we grow softer chewing food and the abruption of the "evolutionary" cycle doesn't know what to do. Insurance should cover those changes, as well as the discovery of sugar and putting in to 98% of the foods we consume.
I did watch a short doc on how people are now being born without wisdom teeth. That's interesting. Couple hundred years and we'll just be sipping everything through straws, like on Wall-E. 😔
Started mowing. Had my dog out and I thought he was chasing a chipmunk but it turned out to be a baby rabbit. Look..... it was gross and I see a lot of gross things but DAMN, a couple minutes turned brutal. I guess the positive is that after I got rid of the .... rabbit.... I put the dog inside and went back to mowing only to see another baby rabbit run off.
Mehhh... not a fan of the little buggers but that was straight up nasty. And people have the nerve to say that "cats are responsible for the decline in birds". SERIOUSLY!!??!!
The weather has been amazing but last night was really humid so I turned my air back on. I can't stand that sticky feeling when I'm sleeping. A fan works great during the day (trying to save on the electric/gas bill) but I have a foam mattress and it runs HOT, even if I lay on a comforter to create a "barrier" of sorts to it. (It's old and outdated which is why I get a lot of hip problems if I lay on it too much.)
Took today off, since I knew I was not going to be able to focus on the holiday work we need to do. (Our stuff is done a couple weeks before the actual holiday.) Windows down and listening to movie scores, I've been feeling pretty sentimental as of late.
Got 2 cats nails trimmed, lol. I don't go chase them down but I do give them treats after the "ordeal". Two more to go. Wish I could trim my dog's nails that easily.
[edit] Ok Mieke... just jump in there before I get through my long winded post. 😂

I did it for the looks mostly, tho also because the dentist said it was better for my jaw/teeth if I did put something in that space. I did notice after those teeth got pulled, my teeth got a lot straighter on their own :P More space available I guess. So that is a good thing too, I guess, but before they started going to wonky again due to nothing to press against (especially in front) I wanted to fix it and make it look nice too. My mom lost the exact same tooth the same way, cavity/cracking/pulled - she got an implant tho instead of a bridge. My dental insurance covered HALF of it, after I switched to the "High" plan - the low plan only covers xrays 1x a year and cleanings. The high plan also covers 1/2 the cost of certain dental work (such as bridges). It does NOT cover braces/orthodontics. So I had to come up with like $800 for just the one tooth. (Because technically it was two teeth - a cap for the one connected for the fake one to bridge onto).
Uck on the baby rabbits and grossness. My dogs have never done that - that I know of. I know our old big dogs used to chase (and occasionally catch) squirrels - and our current big dog chases squirrels and birds - I do not know if she's ever caught any tho...... the cats however, are always bringing me "gifts" especially in spring/summer.
- I looked up who you are talking about in your festival hahaha - because I see your food pantry posts I know your town - :P I have NO CLUE who it is tho even tho I looked up the name. Hahaha I guess he is not so famous. (well, in some circles-such as mine).
Icky sticky. I cannot stand that. I never had a foam mattress. I slept on one once at my friends house, I did not like it at all. Too stiff. I don't know if it was one of those memory foam ones or a regular but it was really stiff and foam-like and I just didn't like it. She loved it tho.
I trimmed my dogs nails :P Gave her treats too so she kept coming back to let me finish hahahah :P Treats make it easier.
I just totally crashed out on my couch for the past two hours. I think I even really SLEPT not just zoned out. I hope I can go to sleep in a bit, I am still quite tired.
Got the dog washed yesterday after mowing... well after I took a long break, lol. Finally accomplishing some things! :P
Does anyone have one of the Eddie Bell items needed to get the free sample from the food truck??

Sent to you :) I was eating supper. Did BBQ chicken in the crockpot, made broccoli & rice casserole, heated up some canned carrots, and did biscuits. Going to have leftover chicken, casserole and carrots for lunch tomorrow as I do not want a yogurt plate or a hot dog :P (school lunch sucks some times, tho I admit, kids LOVE the yogurt plates and the hot dogs!!! Just not....me .... I don't love those foods)
Thank you!! Got the free sample and returned the shoes.
Mmm a broccoli, cheese, rice and chicken casserole sounds yummmeeee. I'll have to make that soon.

I almost put the chicken in the casserole, but since I'd bbq'd it, I didn't think it would taste too good. Plain chicken would have been great to add. I also like to add ham to the broccoli casserole - that tastes good too. And turkey sometimes.
Our school added like 4-5 asynchronous learning days. PreK gets to do the first one, with packet of paperwork - but then supposedly we have to do live sessions on the other "virtual" days. sigh PreK cant win sometimes. Its because its Bright From the Start/Lottery funded schooling, not just public school. Eh. Tell me tho, since we did NOT get chromebooks this year, (they made us return them and didn't give them back) how are all of our kids supposed to get on a live meet? Not to mention all those kids at daycare or gramma's house because mom/dad are at work? Seriously? Did we not learn ANYTHING from going virtual for covid?? Its going to be a crapshoot on who gets online for the next virtual days (in Sept, then Nov, then I think Jan? and April - I think I'll have to recheck the calendar) Lead teachers had to do a meeting on it yesterday afterschool - I was told this morning that we have to do some sort of NEW training due to the platform they want us to use for the virtual live sessions. SERIOUSLY? Like we barely managed to figure out google classroom and google meets and now you want us to do something DIFFERENT? What was wrong with google meets anyway?? GRRRRR Stupid frustrating thing. I think if the PreK class is in a public school and that school system chooses to have a day off for whatever reason, then the PreK students should be treated the same as the k-12 students in that school system. My opinion doesn't matter tho. They are supposed to be sending out a survey to see who would need a device for these days evidently. Like, probably most of the parents? DUH? Unless they are just going to use big brother/sisters chromebook that is school supplied and already at home anyway, because big brother/sister DOESN'T HAVE TO do live sessions - just PAPERS!!! GAAAAHHH
(Yes, I'm rather annoyed to be finding all this stupid crap out about these asynchronous days)
[edit] Ahhh what a lovely day we had eyeroll So first off, principal comes in the room randomly. Calls one kid over, takes him out of the room, comes back in a little bit. Then calls me over - evidently this kid got hit in the arm yesterday and NO ONE KNEW. So mom called the school office. Uhhh? Why not call us first or write us a note? But ok. So we now have to be watchful for anyone hitting this kid sigh Principal sends email to teacher "It was great visiting your room this morning, but I noticed you were NOT on schedule. Please try to stay on schedule" - ummm dude? We aren't even two weeks into school, and its a FLEXIBLE schedule anyway!! Meaning if we are off by a little its supposed to be ok, as long as we still pretty much do things in the same order. THEN we had mr cranky pants AND ms cranky pants today, plus crying for gammy again. Made for a long day. It wasn't awful by any means, but just agravating. On top of that, the other para was out sick again, so the Kinder para's took turns being in that room, and I ended up with car rider duty again (we alternate weeks and its her week - but she was out Monday and now today too, and will be out tomorrow - so basically I had car rider all week- because the kids won't be there Friday).
In other news!! College classes start today!! I get to go see Godat (the teacher I know that I purposely signed up for the in-person class for) LOL I hope it goes well. I need to sign on and look to see what the biology teacher posted. [Edit] Nothing like arriving early so you aren't late...even before the professor who told you to look for his vehicle to park by to find the class hahahah. So I waited til I saw him arrive
That sounds about right as for the school wanting kids to do things without the appropriate tools.
Aggravating day, indeed! Funny that you get excited for extra school work. :P
Slots cards I had from all the times I played slots, finally collected today by the RB. 192 found in your Vault (Junk) | Still got a bunch of coins to turn in but that constant clicking is so mind numbing.

Mmm hahaha yea it is a little weird I guess. But mostly I've enjoyed my classes. I'm looking forward to this one only because I know the teacher. Oops class about to start!!
[edit] Well that was the fastest class ever. All of 20mins hahaha. He said usually we will only be there about 45min anyway. Went over the syllabus, told us we don't need to buy the text book (thanks, I did that on the 1st and I may not be able to return it now sigh - going to go ask tho - its when I get paid and the website said we'd need the book) And told us that if we come every week (we don't have to, he doesn't care as long as we do the work online) he'll help us, and explain stuff to us. Yay fun :P I really do hope the bookstore is understanding and refunds the book (the receipt says 10 days) :/ Meh. Its $60!!! For a used one (new was like 80) I hope used ones can at least still be bought back on buy back days if I cant get it refunded- I don't know. This is the first used book I've bought.
