I hate emailing people lol so maybe that's part of it?

Just talked to my mum, my gran has been eating now and seem to be doing a bit better. Which is really great to hear. I think it has helped to have people around her. Her lack of eating might have been her being depressed. She had not been eating anything when my auntie and ucle took her to see a doctor. I hope they make sure your Gran has the right kind of food that she can recognize and eat comfortably. :squishes:

I'm pleased she's eating again :D Does your Gran get on with things like video phone calls, or is she like mine and refuses to have anything to do with modern technology? (just wondering if video calls would let her see family more often, regardless of whether she's at home or in a care home)

My Gran does tend to prefer biscuits and cake to a 'proper' lunch, but we figured as long as she's eating something regularly (albeit not the healthiest of things :P), then that's better than nothing!

admittedly email to people you don't know can be hard to phrase right, so it comes across how you want it to, without them being able to read things into it that weren't intended ;) I struggle with verbal conversation when I can't see the other person though, so phone calls are a nightmare for me 😊

lol I just prefer to have someone on the phone dealing with/understanding my issue and I can get things done fast it seems lmao.

that's a good point - providing you don't get an overseas call centre where the person follows a script (I wouldn't want that job!!) and it takes forever to actually get your question answered.... if at all :P

I tried that before - the poor chap on the phone didn't seem to understand the word "supervisor" when I asked, so I hung up :P

[edit] And going back to me saying that email was easier, I'd sent a question to a shop to ask about the height of a product they had online (it's a bear I thought would work for one of Mum's friend's grandchildren). The store emailed back and asked for the product codes, so I went back to their website and copied the codes & sent them. I got a reply yesterday.... "because the information is not on our website, we are unable to help with your enquiry" .... if the information was on the website (where it should be - the height of a bear is quite important if you're buying it for a young child!), I wouldn't have needed to ask in the first place! o.O

She refuses to learn to use a cellphone or a computer for that matter. Very stubborn about that. :P But we should be able to visit. :) There will be a meeting tomorrow about what is going to happen next since she can't stay where she is now for much longer.

that's identical to my Gran with technology! Hopefully the meeting goes well, and there's somewhere that she'll get on with (and maybe somewhere that has more of a social thing for the residents, so she has a chance to have a chat with people) which is also easy enough for the family to visit :D

I sent back and pointed out that if the info was on the website, I wouldn't have needed to ask.... and asked if they could find someone who does know, and then at least update the website. Of course I had no reply from them after that!

And the product was on a pre-order, so they didn't have any in (at that point there wasn't even a photo on the website)

@ Raven I am sure it is.... Just got home from a "fun" appointment. Fun times.

@ Paddy Fingers crossed. Hopefully I will know more later today when my mum calls. She is a very social person usually, so I think it would benefit her a lot.
