The Mysterious Island entertained me for a decent while. It was good, though the ending certainly left much to be desired. Now I'm reading Chopping Spree by Diane Mott Davidson. It's not exactly bad so far, but it's not in the running to make my list of favorite mystery novels, either. It's also kind of weirdly part cookbook? Like, there are recipes sprinkled throughout the book. They're good recipes. I can't eat most of them, but they're GOOD recipes, which is surprising, to be honest.

I just finished "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" by Robert C. O'Brien and "The Lost Village" by Camilla Sten, and I've started "Second Glance" by Jodi Picoult.

On the side just for fun when I need a breath, I'm rereading the Harry Potter series for the first time in years. It's like going home after a very long day.

Finally finished Chopping Spree, it was... meh. It started out okay, but then it got frustratingly contrived about halfway through and I got mad and stopped reading it for a while. >>; Now that it's over, it's been tossed in my donations box with all my other "will never read again" books. (I'm going to need another box for donation books before long...) I pulled Nowhere to Run by Mary Jane Clark from my shelf for my next read. The premise sounds pretty interesting, so I'm hoping the actual book holds up.

Jodi Picoult's "Second Glance" was incredible. It was daunting to start just because there were so many characters to get to know and stories woven together in the end, but it was worth it and I enjoyed it so much.

I'm reading Stephen King's "The Outsider" now. I've heard good things, so I'm excited.

The First Circle by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn great semi-autobiographical read about the soviet gulag system and the russian zeitgeist in the 50s, but can be difficult to follow. here's a man that loves his tangents

Right now I'm reading a book called This is How You Die. It has a collection of short stories in it with the prompt of a machine that can predict your death by a blood test.

I'm reading "The Hollow Tree" by James Brogden now. It's just a book I picked up at the library because I liked the spine and cover, but I'm so glad I did. It's about a woman who, after losing part of her left arm in a boating accident, realizes she has a hand in the past.
