yeah heard and saw about that. People also wanted to get another ending....
LOL go to bed!
If they wanted Bran to be king they should've spent more time building that up. I mean...there was an entire season where he wasn't present so why do that if the end goal was to have him as king? Why have all his plotlines removed from the political landscape of Westeros if the end goal was to have him as king?
I love the idea of Dany turning evil and there were hints of her madness in seasons past but...the show never explained WHY Dany chose evil.
All in all the final season seemed more about surprising viewers than actually writing a good ending. Some of the twists could have worked if they had been built up better.
You're absolutely right. George R. Martin told them what the end goal was. They just messed up getting there. The ending could have been just fine if they had built everything up properly instead of just throwing it out there. I'm not surprised by Daenerys going mad. The madness runs in her bloodline and there were several signs of it, but she turned too quickly at the end for it to not be a jarring break in character, because yeah, there wasn't much of a why.
I saw a pitch meeting video for season 8 that summed it up pretty well (and was also pretty funny). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAhKOV3nImQ
On another note, I'm so ready for holiday season. I'm ready for Morostide and fireside and Luminaire xD

I saw that video =D
Morostide is one of my favorite holidays on the site :)
Same. That and Luminaire are my favs. Vesnali's also really fun too...if I'm thinking of the right one. That's the one with the dancing, right? It's been a while.
Edit: Looked it up. No, I was thinking of the Atebus masquerade.

sorry to intrude, lurker here, but i must thank you for the heads up regarding game of thrones. i have read the books and saw the first season but now i don't think i'll continue . i don't want the show to ruin the book series's ending. oh, and morostide is my fav subeta holiday also. :)
I understand that. I'd still watch it and maybe leave out the last season, because the rest of the show's great.

I can understand :)
I'm going to read the books only if Martin actually finishes them XD
If you were to continue I'd suggest stopping at the end of Season 6. Yeah, the show was taking...liberties with the source material by that point but Seasons 7 and 8 are a different type of bad.
I loved the entire series. I thought the last season was still good, but it really needed to be expanded into maybe three more seasons. They rushed it. But I never read any of the books either, so I was not disappointed that way. I have been many times in the past with others though, so I understand your viewpoint.
I haven't read the books yet but I've heard the opinions of many a book reader. It got to a point where I sometimes forget what is a book only thing O.O'
Honestly it's the same way I know the real answer of "why didn't the eagles just fly the Fellowship to Mordor" and why you NEVER ask Lord of the Ring book readers that question O.O'
now i just maywatch it for the fun of it. so far, i've never seen a show that completely follows cannon. as for the book series not being finished - i don't think you should let that stop you. :)
and
I don't want to run into a cliffhanger that never gets resolved hence not reading the books until they're complete.
Edit: I read the original Dune books back in the day and the cliffhanger was...yeah...
Agree they could have done things better. But stil enjoyed the whole series. I did read 2 or 3 books but stopped as it was on tv. Maybe i will go back to the books -writes them on birthday gift list-
and
all i can say is read the books. whenever i find a tv show or movie that has been adapted from a book i always read the books. i've never been disappointed in the books where i cannot say that for the shows. although i must say that i did see the dune tv series but have never read the books. mainly because i'm not a fan of sci-fi . :)
I'm a big fan of the original Dune movie even though it really takes great liberties with the source material. So I haven't watched the tv series yet XD
For me with a series based on a book(s), it really depends. Such as Pretty Little Liars was a fun show but I didn't feel compelled to read the books when it was airing as I don't tend to read that genre. Might in the future though. It's bad, but in a fun way XD
But with Hannibal...yeah...it got me to read all the books and re-watch the movies XD
Aha good tip! Will read the books.
Some movies/series are better then the boks. I enjoyed vampire diaries as a tv show better then the books.
now, hannibal is a genre i love but i haven't read the books yet. that along with dune are going on my list now. i didn't realise there were 2 dune shows. the one i'm referring to is the one with kyle mclauglin . i'm sure there are some shows that are better than the books but , i swear, now that i'm trying to think of one nothing comes to mind. all i can think of are ones that did their best to follow cannon but couldn't due to time and platform constraints - such as the stand mini-series and the harry potter movies. :)
Not a show but a movie series...the Disney adaptations of Chronicles of Narnia weren't very book accurate at parts which greatly improved them for the most part. The books tended to be lackluster with tension overall.
There is one film adaption I know of that actually stuck exactly to the books, though it's a movie, not a series, and that's The Outsiders. That's the only thing I know of off the top of my head that did that though.
I grew up with the Chronicles of Narnia books, and I loved the movies! I just wish they'd continued through all of them instead of stopping at the Dawn Treader. I'm disappointed we never got to see Puddleglum...I did just look it up and found out that there was supposed to be a Silver Chair movie though?! O.O I didn't know about this until now and now I'm upset that they abandoned it. ;A;
