I had bought a new smartphone (refurbished) to get a bigger screen so that it would be easier to handle the calendar... well it was a different system and it took more than a year before I got the courage to use the calendar only to discover it was a worse system that didn't use the full screen so it's useless to me. At least I can use it as a camera on the go... I hardly use it as a phone as it's only for emergencies XD

The best thing about moving to a new laptop for me has been that I have a cloud backup service, so I was able to move all my old files right over to the new laptop. I mean it took like 12 hours, but I did it overnight.

Now if I could only get my chrome bookmarks to sync. For some reason that's not happening. I may have to export them manually. And, I can't find any USB drives around my house. I know I have at least 2, if not more like 5.

Um....what's the difference between ASUS and Dell laptops?

I think the only difference would be the brand. I feel that Dell is a little more high-end/expensive. I've had both (last one was an ASUS and the one before that was a Dell) and they've all worked good for me.

I chose the specific one that I did because it has a metal case/body. I tend to knock mine over now and then, lol.

I didn't make an announcement on my FB page but letting everyone know that my aunt passed away from the COVID complications. Though she had recovered but her heart just gave out. Don't know how she got it since she is home bound. Will be having a funeral/graveside service this Wednesday.

Just don't have time to do many of the quests here on the site. But I do a few things anyway.

I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss Karen, and especially that it was from covid complications. I'm glad that you're able to have a service for her.

I had a cousin that passed early in the pandemic and the family was finally able to have a service for him in mid-August.

Sorry for your losses ❤ I received an announcement of the loss of a member of an organization I was with. What was interesting is the woman passed in early March. They'll have a very small in-person event at the start of Sept. What interesting was that there would be a possibility to view the even via the internet. It's great how they've been able to adapt to include more people in the grieving process. My thoughts are with you. Squishy hugs

With the cooler temp, I was able to enjoy knitting on my balcony swing while Gismo was between my legs tucked in a warm blanket. I also had made a warm tea and had lit fairy lights I had put on my swing. Horra for cooler temps :D You can always put more on... but only take so much off. Lying on the floor in undies while the air conditioner is on is not fun! Funny to talk about afterwards though :P

Yay for cooler weather! This is my favorite time of the year! I don't think I've ever sat under the A/C in just my underwear LOL! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I had to work Saturday, but today we went on a nice hike. We only saw a small handful of people and we got to sit at a nice overlook by ourselves for a good 45 mins and watch the birds soar on the winds. Very relaxing!

Sounds, er... reads, like a lovely hike :) Overheating due to hormones and heatwave = not even dunking head in the freezer can help XD The worst was in winter when I was in a sleeveless top and had to urgently go outside to cool off... there was snow and the temp was pretty low where people are wearing coats, tuques, etc. and I'm sweating in a sleeveless top. lol

Writing of winter... I just got the reindeer dress I ordered, I should go check it out but super first ;)

Tom and I actually had off from Friday-Tuesday together - a much needed staycation! We had my parents over on Sunday and I made ribs in the instant pot, corn on the cob and cole slaw. I think it went well. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Reindeer dress... hum well there goes one of my misadventures of buying on the net. The dress is made for a giant :P The sleeves go down to my fingers, the chest & waist are floating out when it's supposed to be close to the body. It's going to be interesting to try and alter as I don't sew a lot and the small sewing machine that I have only does 1 row & I haven't used it in years or ever much. I have a few months to figure it out shifty eyes

I also got a lovely surprise gift today from a friend, Poukie loves to read :) I was on the person's mind lately... I replied back probably because my birthday is coming up :D It's a changing of digit birthday... in my family those are extra special. Can't celebrate with anyone in person, but I'm planning a lovely meal. I'm going to attempt to cook a lobster tail (1st time) and have a beef tenderloin cooked in a balsamic vinegar sauce. I'm thinking asparagus as a veg (if the grocery has some) and risotto for the carb. The dessert is challenging to figure out. I like cheesecake; however, I wasn't able to find a light one, and the one I got tastes bland. Of course, I've been taste-testing to find the right dessert... it's only on rare occasions I have a dessert. I found some chocolate cake/mouse... two types: hazelnut & double chocolate. I'm leaning towards the hazelnut. Then again, a grocery store nearby sells portion-sized tiramisus... although it's not a pastry and usually not as yummy. If traveling wasn't an issue I would have gone to a specialty cheesecake shop; however, I have to accept the limitations this year has created. At least this year I won't be completely alone... my cook/cleaner is coming that day. Plus, I'll most likely get a few phone calls from family :)

If I lived closer, I'd give the alteration a go! how were the ribs? I bought hubby a Ninja Foodie for Christmas and he uses it ALL THE TIME. It's really fun and versatile! It's an instapot and air fryer all in one. He's made some really yummy meals from it. Tonight is a baked ham. drools
