I have spent a lot of money on pet slots and name changes as well, and I absolutely agree with Mackenzi - if anything, I think we can learn a lot from people who are less willing to indulge into the pet scene

Like, I want to learn what would make these people put more focus on their pets. I want the community to be bigger, and their voices absolutely matter. Some said that non-unique names would get them more interested in taking part in the pet scene, and I'd love to see which other QOL features could interest them,

The potential is there - and we cannot just take the opinion of old users, or people with 80 pets, or people who spend more than X$ into account. We need to look at the potential clients.

Market study

I don't wanna spam, BUT if there will be non-unique-pet-names, we should also consider making pets more attractive. Since not everyone, including me, is good at drawing/painting, and some accessoires like the Dragons on FlightRising have, would be great.

I’m not a pet person, and I like unique pet names tbh. My thoughts on the matter one way or the other aren’t strong enough to warrant posting. I can see myself supporting either side after considering the better arguments.

I like ornate pets like the Glade color, but I really dislike accessories or clothing (listed under frequently denied requests in a sticky for this forum) for pets. No support.

I am one of those people who will spend money/CSC if we were to have truly non-unique, ID-based names. But I will not spend a cent to have a mispelled version of that name under the current system, or to add/change a nickname- for me, neither of those is the real deal. It feels like having a crappy bootleg version of the name I actually want. And that's not worth paying for. It never will be.

I currently have 80 pets, and would happily spend 100-250CSC each to change their names to something that was my first choice. Even without a new bonus to the subscription service. I'm very excited about this possibility. But a "nickname" - or anything less than pets going by ID numbers and the ability to name them whatever we'd like - meh.

People, you've enjoyed your special status as having the only "blank" on the site for 15+ years. Changing it now doesn't diminish the enjoyment you got out of it. I bought a Mystical Donadak Plushie and a Mystical Montre Plushie way back when, and enjoyed having those extra pet slots. Being able to now buy pet slots with sp from the Millionaire Center or 500CSC right on the pets page doesn't mean that I was cheated out of something, it just means that things change. Re-releasing things does not harm horders - there is no guarantee that the rare item you have worth 5 billion sp won't be put into the Crystal Shop, or that the 20 million Trick-or-Treat item won't be given away during Carnival games.

Hell, I remember when Human Avatars were first introduced. There was this huge outcry, as "Subeta is a pet site!" Now it is unthinkable to be without one. There was another rage-fit when the Mortiking Bank stopped giving away millions of sp in interest, or when the Ruffie or Kanis or Kumos or Rreign was revamped. Change happens, and it's scary, and it might not go the way you wanted. But it will happen.

Most of my pets are fandom related. It's quite annoying to see pets I'd use rot on people's accounts, so I just go buy some more fake clothes and stay in the wardrobe.

－O－ If non unique names come into play...well, I have a RW name pet. I wouldn't be upset if someone else had it either, because the pets aren't where I sink my time.

It's impossible to do. Flight Rising has what, 14 kinds of dragons that can wear clothing, times 2 poses (ancients and hatchlings cannot wear coats)

Subeta has way more species, and making them able to wear hats would be an impossible task for the art force.

Really, I feel like the idea of non-unique pet names would please as many old users as they'd please newer ones. How many times did you wish you could adopt a specific name to several people? Personally, it happened a bunch of times!

It would be a perfect solution. Name the pet however you want, and it will show up in the URL still since the URL now has the ID in it

I'm very excited about the new URL and I hope it leads to fully non-unique pet names! At first I wasn't thrilled about the idea, but I'm really come around to being 100% supportive. I "participated" in a clearing once, way back in 2009. Its not a popular name so I was lucky enough not to face any issues creating the pet after I got home from school. That pet turns 11 next month so I have literally had almost 11 years to enjoy being the only person to own that name.

At this point in my life, I don't have time for clearing or hunting down synonyms. I had three empty pet slots for months, if not over a year, because I couldn't find a single name I liked available. Everything was taken so I kept giving up. I've barely played for around 4 years and lack of inspiration for my pets was part of that.

Once I subscribed, I got back into HAs and questing. Within a day or two I found another name that really inspired me. I bought CSC for the first time since I was in high school and stayed up until 6am last night putting profiles on all of my pets. Pets that had had blank profiles for literally years. Most of them had been empty for 4-5 years! I've started thinking up story concepts, filling TCs, buying potions, zapping, everything!

I'm already planning out new CSC purchases, preparing for Black Friday, actively working on my pets, and have literally been on Subeta all day today. I wasn't active 100% of the day, but I kept coming back. I literally have no idea how many years its been since that was true for me. If I can change the name of the one pet whose name I hate because its nowhere close to the name I wanted, I will be excited beyond words. I'll pay the cost immediately, no matter what it is, and I will be here, finally working on a pet I've owned for 3 years.

Anything that brings people back is a win in my book.

I'm all for the sharing of names!!! There are soo many names that fit my pets that I had to add a pointless " . " in them just to have them! I don't mind this at all :)

I'm pretty pleased with all my names, as they stand... And in fact, I've managed to find some great new ones within the past couple of days... So, personally, I don't think I'll change many, if any... And I don't have enough pet slots to worry about grabbing any more.

But I am excited to see what they are gonna do... If they are gonna do something for the "OGs"... If it's gonna be nicknames or non-unique names... (I am hoping for non-unique names, for reasons previously expressed.)

I'm also looking forward to seeing which names people pick and what they do with them.

I really want to change some pet names but not if this is going to happen as I will possibly end up changing them again. I hate the indecision of it all. I wish we could have a poll and be told what is going to happen -_-;

Word from Keith's recent board about a CW council, we should see news this week regarding an official plan regarding petnames! Fingers crossed.

We shouldn't be hoping that people don't log in for twelve months so that we can just go and take their names. When you think about it, it's such a gross mentality.

Clearings really have no actual positives for the average user.

^ this so much...I have been waiting on a name for years. Each time I think I might have a chance to get it, the user signs in. And this is not a "I am still interested, just busy" user. They state that they ONLY sign in to keep the names from others.
