We've been talking about style consistency among species, what about the consistency among colors? Every time I visit the reborn color page on subetalodge, I cringe a little because how obvious the color inconsistency is (and clearly it's not the same case as angel pets, nor it's simply a matter of old vs new art). BUT I'm not trying to blame anyone for the inconsistency, either among species or colors. I'm just trying to say that it's never going to be perfect. As long as a pet has all the species characteristics correctly drawn, and we can recognize the species in an instant, I don't think style and shading consistency is the number one priority. From a business stand point, you need to be prepared for emergencies. An artist can eventually leave the site, and they may need to take long breaks due to unexpected medical/family issues (even though I don't want this to happen to any of you ever). At some point, you gotta switch artists for a pet.

I honestly don't know the back end processes for the creative department, and I haven't read all the posts (my apologies). I know it can be complex and not easy to change. But I'm hoping the artists can have enough creative freedom. If an artist who is in charge of species A, B, C suddenly has an idea for a glacier D, then, maybe let them do it if the artist who's in charge of D is not working on it? Also as some users have mentioned already, maybe stop releasing pets based on holidays! I'm not sure if artists are trying to meet the deadlines for holiday pet releases which can potentially slow down the flow of creative juice. But let's say, maybe it's hot in the summer, and one artist just suddenly has the idea for a glacier pet, then, let them do it, and release it in the summer. You can even write a cute little story about this glacier XXX, trying to help out with the heat in the news. You can totally release sweatheart pets during morostide, because, hey, maybe sweetheart XXX just hides in your bag of candies and follows you home. Release spectrum and/or blacklight pets with storm pets because we can have rainbows after storms.

Again, I know maybe all my assumptions were wrong in this post, and maybe none of my suggestions are going to be feasible. But I just hope that eventually something can be worked out, and pet people can get the decent amount of pet releases that they deserve ❤.

Another thing pet oriented that needs to get more updates pronto is the Subetapedia.

Seriously, it's insane that so many species don't have an article. We're not talking Blob or Yaherra here - we're talking about species that were here in 2006.

When lifelike dolls and subetapedia entries were released, I expected articles to show up a lot more regularly, to the point that I'd actually want to see one or two writers added to the site.

The subetapedia in general is neglected. Not just pet-wise. And, it shouldn't be - the subetapedia should be the backbone of the site lore.

I would really like to see more focus on the pets as well. I have taken several hiatuses from Subeta, mainly because it just seems like there isn't much to do besides dress-up. Coming back from hiatuses these past two times, the number of wearables is overwhelming. And the updates to pets and pet colors is underwhelming, at best. I will say that I have been quite pleased with the battle updates though.

June 2018 pet colors released: 4 (of which 2 were color fills) Vibrant Bovyne, Vibrant Devonti, Storm Tutani and Chibi Experiment June 2018 wearable released: 117 (62 of these items were what I will call "color fills" - same lineart but different fill colors. I didn't include the Neugarten T Shirts in the 62 since they had different art on them)

I'd like to see the wearables released to be halved and the pet colors released to be doubled, personally.

I love a lot of the pet related ideas listed on this thread too, especially the leash ones that came up with!

WHY DO WE NEED THESE?! Was there really some huge demand for wasp centaurs? They could be fixing/adding colors but they waste their time on wasp centaurs!

In all fairness... These were not just done yesterday. Artists can definitely work on more than one kind of thing at the same time.

We shouldn't request that no items/wearables get released at ALL (especially ones that are already done and ready to be released), what we want is a less disproportionate release reschedule. Less "oh, fifth round of wearables this week. I wonder if we'll get any kind of pet color at all this month. Oh hey we did aaaaaaand it's 2 aqua pets".

I have it on good authority these have been finished for like a week or more. Chill, dude.

I mean, nobody is saying they shouldn't release other stuff other than pets, just more pet colors would be more welcome. From my experience as a petsite artist, releases like items, wearables, pet colors, etc are typically submitted to a queue and scheduled. So it's not someone going "Hey let's release these now" and hits the shiny release button.

It's things we already have in a billion variants who are the problem. I like the look of the wasp items and am glad they exist, but good luck getting me to be excited over plain t-shirts or socks, or shoes.

It WAS! And we could have pet colors/releases even happen for/related to the NPCs. I also missed Epicon and Peka-Boo, I think those were fun events too that we could bring back and have pet ties too. Honestly, Summer would be a good time for Storm/Hydrus pet releases

By colours, do you mean the palette? If so, then I disagree with your statement. Each special colour has a palette that the artists use. Which colour they choose out of said palette is at their discretion. If you're referring to the flames, then yes, there is some inconsistency across the board, but I personally don't mind it.

Typically summertime is when we see storm, hydrus and spectrum pets released. But those could be released any time of the year, and it wouldn't faze me. This is Subeta, where the Arctic Frost is perpetually always winter, and Delphi Beach is always summer. Why wouldn't new Glacier pets show up whenever they're ready, regardless if it's summertime irl? not gonna lie, having maps change according to season would be amazing to see, but I know that's a lot of work and not relevant to this thread's topic

And as for the candied wasps, at least it's something unique instead of another set of fucking tops or shoes.

Not sure what to say that hasn't been already. The last pet to be revamped was the Charlie I think? It's gotten zero special colours updated to the new art since. The Illumis is the same art as when I joined. I'm starting to forget that some pets exist! (Looking at you, Torrey)

I like wearables. I like pets.

But wearables are what the vast majority of the site uses. Its one of the draws that keeps people here. I understand the pet love, I understand that there are a lot of users who enjoy their pets and creating for their pets. But Wearables are what make the site the most money. They're the things that keep users here.

I'm all for more pet things, but The entitlement and whining is outstanding when if you think financially and time wise which is easier to crank out it completely makes sense why Pets are never released at a rate that users are happy with. This isn't a new complaint. But bills gotta be paid, otherwise your pets will be gone forever.

Without us antiquated pet enthusiasts Subeta would have died before it really started way back in 2004. With this is mind I believe that we should still be allowed to have a voice here, too. c:

No I agree, its a Pet site and should still do things for pets. I'm just explaining why the things that actually bring money into the site are what the artists focus on. Also when it comes to time constraints, there would be even more of a fuss if we went days without ANYTHING released on site because the entire focus of all the artists was pets.

Also side note: Not everyone who has posted is "Whiney and entitled" so no need to be upset about that.

I am not a pet lover. Not even in the beginning.

But i do agree they have been an underdevelped part for some time now. Pet month is a great idea. I fully support the more pets plea, even though they are not my specific interest on the site.

I'd say the custom pet overlays do bring in a decent chunk of money for the site. Same with name exchanges, changes and whenever those stat boosting talismen appear in the CS, I usually buy some to boost my battle pets.

So I'm gonna have to disagree with ya. Besides, CWs are the breadwinner and that's done by users, not the official staff artists; a good portion of new wearables released aren't CS-only, so I believe your argument falls flat there.

If the site will allow the pet users more chances to spend $, I'm sure we will spend more $.

Why aren't there non-wearable custom items just for TC purposes? And if the site would allow more csc pet slots, I will surely have 2000% more inventive to spend 2000% more $$$. I know we can't get more slots. I know some things are not feasible. I know the idea of custom TC items were shot down a long while ago. But just because the site is unable to find more ways to milk $$$ from us pet users, it doesn't mean we should be ignored or stay silent.

New pet getting released might get people to buy a pet slot with CSC.

New line of sole train shoes or even the hornet butts released in the Carnival Shop isn't going to get money for the site.

At all.

If a wearable isn't a CW or a Cash Shop item, it brings no income for the site.

But, any pet released has the potential to bring income because of pet slots being sold for real casharoni.
