Yay, congrats!
One last time so it doesn't get buried:
MY STEPS
-Sent [NPC] Mathis a friend request
-Befriended both Captain Cuddles and Incinerator with one pet (my T1, Morose)
-Gave that pet a Fish Bones minion (because that is what 's pet Makalu had for a minion, LOL)
-Made that pet my active
-Lost a battle to Prodigy (it may have taken a few battles, I was just mindlessly clicking, lmao)
I was also battling with just two Unadorned Steel Swords I had made over at the Asmodeus Lab, though neither of them broke during the battle that I unlocked him on.
I tried what Jess said worked and it did not work for me. So I looked at Makalu and changed one thing about my pet. As soon as I battled and lost after changing the one thing, I unlocked Mathis.

I followed the friending steps and set my pet to active, but did not use the swords and still popped the challenger
I'm looking at Makalu...and I don't get it? They have flowers in their TC, and text, text, text, text in their profile...what is staring me in the face?

I used from the news posts as my minion, I changed it to another dead thing the and that worked for , meaning there is more than one minion that will work :D

I had the Zombie Kitten in my inventory yesterday and if I had just added it to a pet this would have gone so much smoother... 😂

Okay, so my T11 battle pet has the zombie kitty, I used a spiral sword against Prodigy, I did the friending thing, and still nothing...do I just need to keep losing to Prodigy until he pops up?

Yeah I was telling amber had someone not brought up that minion and the whole thing about abuse to cats, I would not have gotten that but then she told me there are multiple minions that work so it looks like all dead related minions will work

My pet, Jackals, has a Skelot for a minion and I lost a battle with him yesterday. I wonder if it needs to be a cat-related dead minion?
