@ Sundown I agree! I can only spend as much energy on my family and my boys as I have so self-care is definitely a priority!
@ Tiobe SIX!! My other son did this, too. Pushed them all through before he was 10 months old. I have a teething oil with clove, chamomile, and peppermint and it takes the edge off sometimes but other times I just snuggle him and try to soothe him to the best of my ability.
...I try...you look swell tonight...all misty and romantic...like faeries could carry you off!
Yes I think I've been away with the fairies a time or two lol. Thank you. You also are rocking the moonlight, did you check out the moon thing I showed you from disasters?
I did check it out. I slotted on the filter one, I thought it was more fun than the black one!!!!! (Couldn't afford both!)
Ive not seen a filter one?
Go check out her thread she is still slotting on it I believe...It is really neat...Parchment something or other...
Ah, summer. The children are home from school...the two remaining kittens have been spayed, and I am "unschooling" the aforementioned kiddos. (It's basically learning without serious structure. They attend public school currently but I am researching alternatives for a multitude of reasons, including a gifted 12 yr old son.)
Logging in briefly for dailies and hoping to find a few hours tomorrow (or later this week) to work on pets and stories. :D
Ahhhhhhh....Summer is indeed knocking at our door...
Who has cool plans for Litha/Solstice?
I'm slowly planning a little celebration for the kiddos for solstice. I've not yet decided on anything for certain, though.
And in other news, I found out that neither of the pets I applied for will be coming home with me. One was given to another user, and the other has been withdrawn from being UFA. So my name quest begins again. I can always CREATE a pet, but I do hate to do that when so many good names are already available....
I've been seeing the term 'unschooling' around a lot lately and I am so curious about it! It sounds so interesting even if it's just for some sort of loose Summer homeschooling while still implementing public school. I have so many qualms about public school, though. I wish there were more alternatives because I just don't think I am organized enough to homeschool, not to mention my short attention span.
I completely forgot Litha was right around the corner!! I've had a hard time celebrating the sabbats this year, but I always try to at least do something small so I'll have to start thinking about that.
Unschooling this may help you out. My kids are 12 and 6, and just finished 6th grade and kindergarten. I have been leaning towards homeschooling for the last few years but havent really researched it until lately. I love the local elementary school in my small town, but loathe the middle and junior/senior high buildings. So I am considering an alternative for my older child, while supplementing my elementary school student when she is home.
Do you plan to raise your kids Pagan or let them choose for themselves when they are older? I let mine both choose for themselves and they both chose Santeria...
My children were baptized Catholic (as was I before I learned of the old ways), and I plan to raise them to include all forms of worship and then let them decide for themselves. I identify very closely with Gnostic worship and mysticism, personally.
That seems a wise way to go. I, too, was baptised Roman Catholic...lol I make that distinction living in Pittsburgh with so many other forms of Catholocism present here...
I was born and raised near Youngstown, Ohio. And yep, Roman Catholic upbringing here as well!! LOL
I wasn't born or raised in Pittsburgh, but I chose to make it my home in my late 30's and I've been happy here. I have no interest in getting rich, and it is cheap to live here.
I spent a few years down in Florida when my oldest was a wee one, but ended up back here in Ohio, basically in the same area I grew up in. And yep, same reasons. Not even close to rich, but have an affordable place, a great partner (my Mister J), and it is a fairly decent area to raise kids in.
So how goes your weekend? I'm sitting here trying to decide on a color/species combo for what will eventually be a pet dedicated to all things magic/witchy/pagan. I recently created CleopatraSelene and Juba, and she is taking over Egyptian princess duties (Amethvst is going to be a robot and cleaning expert), and Juba is going to be her guardian as well as my wheel of the year pet.
My weekend goes well. I'm resting up, preparing for minor surgery on Monday morning, messing around on here trying to do my dailies, but really wanting to go play in the wardrobe and make a new HA...we will see if duty or beauty wins... lol...or a nap...that might win, too.
Naps always win. ;)
I'm playing around with pet combos and questing while Mister J has the little one out for an adventure. The boy got a new game on his tablet AND two new dvds this week; he is absorbing every minute he can on his devices hehe. (We set limits on them during weekdays both during the school year AND summer/holidays.)
