Magnus snickered. "You should name the pup Mischief."
Irwin nodded. "Good job. Okay, your dad's a muggle huh? Well when you go home, please make sure your mother is around and if you need more help," he said digging a card out, "call me and I'll come." Then he spelled the area, asked questions then handed Drew the forms. "Congratulations." Magnus paid the fee and was beaming. "Lets go get pet supplies and toys."
"Sure, I can get my Reggie a toy too, since I got two pets. Plus I need to get to get the lil' niffler some toys." When Jona discovered the niffler in his pocket, Zoe was giggling heavily. "Ye got a hitchhiker. He likes ye."
Dedra, the sales clerk also laughed. "They like shinny things. Probably after your coins. Tip him upside down and see if he's stolen anything from you."
Jona awkwardly tipped him upside down and gave a little shake, but nothing came out. "Am I not doing it right?" He tried handing the niffler back to the clerk, but when she grabbed for him, the niffler held onto Jona's sleeve.
Dedra laughed. "Maybe you are just shinny?"
Zoe was laughing too. "I think ye'll have to buy him, or ye'll be here in yer birthday suit as they try to get Clark back."
Jona shrugged and laughed it off, knowing it really didn't take much to convince him to keep Clark. "Guess we're both getting a niffler today. Duncan'll have to understand." He stuck Clark gently back in his sweatshirt pocket and said to the clerk, "In that case, do you have like a basic starter kit for a new niffler owner? And one that's on a budget, please? Also, I'd like one of those dog beds made from that soft fabric that's filled with flower petals to help my doggy sleep."
Taking Irwin’s card, Drew put it in his pocket before the crup could attempt to chew it. “I’ll do that, Irwin,” he said. Then patting the crup pup, he grinned, “Let’s get you some toys instead of you eating Irwin’s card.”
Drew grinned at Magnus and said, “I kinda already did I think. I think Mischief suits him. Once we get pet supplies, then I really have to check out the rest of the shop.”
He had to laugh a bit at Jona’s dilemma with the niffler. “Those little guys are so cute,” he commented. “I think one might need to come home with me. I mean I could always say it’s for Flora, right? She will need more pets when she comes to Hogwarts.” He winked at Magnus and veered off to look at the baby nifflers. They passed the baby pygmy puffs on the way and Drew paused with a smile. “Wonder if Paul would kill me if I got the twins a couple,” he said. Deciding he’d best ask first, Drew sighed and continued to the nifflers.
Once at the niffler pen, it didn’t take Drew long to decide that he ‘needed’ one of the cute critters. He chose one who climbed his arm and peered into his jacket pocket, tossing out a piece of lint and giving Drew a disgusted look. Drew laughed and petted the niffler who made a squeaking sound and dived headfirst into the now cleaned out pocket. “Well since you’ve settled in there, I think I’ll name you Pockets since you like to pick them and sleep in them,” the boy said with a smile. “But let’s get your own home for you.” He picked up a niffler house kit similar to the one Zoe had gotten.
“Now, your turn Mischief,” he said, petting the crup. The pup was soon sporting a new collar, though Drew hadn’t attached the leash since he wasn’t leash trained yet, and also food and water dishes, a bed, food, and treats. They were looking at the toys and Mischief was sniffing them as Drew let him decide, though the pup seemed pretty overwhelmed and couldn't pick one. Drew knew how he felt.
"Maaaaan, I feel like everyone's getting nifflers," Jona whined.

Zoe giggled. "They can play together. We'll bury some gold and stuff for them. It'll be a blast." She loved the idea.
"Yes, right this way sir, ma'am, we've got a nice size starter cage with two toys, bag of food and a bag of self cleaning litter. The litter lasts for 2 months." She showed them off to the area and pointed out the cage. "This one is 7 galleons."
"I got a ferret," Magnus told Jona.
Irwin nodded and waved as they headed off. "It's a cute name, Drew," Magnus said. "Yes, I wanna get some books." Magnus snickered. "Right, and it'd need a friend too right, so one for you." He shook his head. "Niall tried to give one to Jean. It hissed at her. Jean hated it anyway. Paul's not overly comfy with animals. He does like birds though, they'd be a better idea." Magnus was laughing with the niffler. "They are dead cute." Magnus got a large ferret cage, a hammock, ferret ball and toys. "We'll need cages for the fwoopers too," he said as Drew started finding things for his new crup.
"Hmmm...Jona went into his backpack and pulled out his wallet, countinf the money inside: 15 galleons, 42 sickles, and a handful of knuts.
"Um..." Jona scratched his head, still not used to wizard money. His uncle Allen had tried to explain several times, but he still had a hard time knowing how many sickles were in a galleon and whatnot. "So, is this, like, enough? For everything?" He was asking no one in particular. He was too worried about whether he had enough money, however if he didn't the it was clear which of the items he'd have to leave behind and he hated the thought of coming home to Duncan empty handed.
Drew rolled his eyes as Jona whined. Honestly, the kid was a pain. Why everyone else thought he was so adorable was beyond Drew’s comprehension. Even when Drew tried to be nice it was never enough. As for everyone buying nifflers, well they were in a pet shop area afterall…of course people were going to end up buying a lot of the same things. Especially something as small and cute as a niffler. As long as he had money to spend, he’d buy what he pleased.
“Wait…a puff hissed at Jean?” Drew asked as Magnus was talking to him. “I didn’t even know they could or would do that? Glorfy never does. But that’s good to know. I’ll find the girls…and Paul and Jean…something else.”
As they were gathering their new pet supplies and Magnus reminded Drew about the fwooper cages, Drew laughed. “We’re going to need that castle,” he grinned at his friend. Thank Merlin for enchanted shopping bags!!
After finally settling on three toys for Mischief, Drew looked at Magnus. “I’m going to need help with what to buy for a fwooper…or any bird really. You know I only have my owls and I’m not a big bird person. Until you came along…isn’t that right, Suess?” Drew asked and stroked the fwooper on his shoulder.
Magnus shook his head. "The dog bed is 10 galleons." He took out his pouch and added 20 galleons to Jona's hand. "That'll give you 10 galleons left for a book for whatever else you see in the other half of the shop."
"Yeah, none of us did. It hated her and Jean didn't care for it either. Paul took it back to the giftshop and got her a dog. Er... bull terrier I believe. Jean adores dogs. She'd own a pack of them." Magnus put his hand on Drew's shoulder. "I know puffs would've been cute." Magnus giggled. "I told you we need a castle." He saw a bird cage in the shape of a castle and laughed hysterically. "I have to get it for Rene. Birds are great."
Zoe was watching as Drew petted the fwooper. "He likes that... or she. Well, better ignore the other pets for sale or I'll leave with a fwooper and pygmy puff and who knows what else."
(( Sorry guys, work has been kicking my butt XP ))
“See this is just one of the reasons I like Jean,” Drew smiled. “I’ll have to show her Mischief. And don’t worry, I’ll find something for all of them.”
As Magnus spotted the castle cage, Drew joined his friend in his laughter and nodded. “Oh yeah! You definitely got to get that!” He looked around and found a cage that he liked. It wasn’t fancy…just a basic rectangle but the top sloped up like a house and the frame was dark wood. Drew liked it because it reminded him of the woods and also it could be mounted on legs if he decided to do that later.
Smiling at Zoe, Drew said, “Suess is a he…I think. And don’t ignore them. Magnus and I will share some of our castle space with you when we build the pet castle.” He grinned.
"Oh, I, uh..." Jona was startled at suddenly being given money and Magnus didn't leave much room for talking before going back to Drew. Jona had very mixed feelings about the whole thing: grateful for the help, but also ashamed; reluctant to take the money and yet insure of what else to do. In the end, he ended up following Magnus and tapping on his shoulder from behind, hoping he wasn't interrupting another conversation with Drew.
"Listen," he said to Magnus. "I super appreciate this, but I..." He looked down at the extra galleons in his hand and pursed his lips. "I don't feel right taking this. I mean, I barely know you and, well - I don't know. It's just -"
Honestly, Jona didn't have a clue where he was going with the konologue, but that didn't matter because it was at that moment that Clark the Niffler decided to make his presence known again. He crawled out of Jona's pocket and down his arm. He stretched lazily whole casually looking down at the galleons in Jona's palm. Then, quicker than he thought possible, Jona watches as Clark snatched up the galleons and scurried back into the safety of his sweatshirt pocket.
((hugs, its okay :*))
"Jean's great, stern sometimes, but very nice," Magnus said. "Ooh I like that cage, looks like a 'ouse."
"Well, we'll go with he then." Zoe didn't really need her arm twisted but the fwoopers were expensive and she didn't have cage either. "Well... I er, I really like 'em." Her resolve weakening. "Alright, it does nee hurt to look at them."
Magnus turned around when Jona tapped him. "We can get the galleons back," Magnus said snickering, "and well, I'd like to okay? It isn't much and your new. What I mean is, I've been there before. Just enjoy your pets and also better get used to giving shinny things back to your classmates. Maybe you should name it Clepto." Just then Magnus spotted the portable fishtank with fish beautiful fish in it and slipped over and picked one up.
Drew nodded and said, “I think the stern but nice must be a mom thing. And thanks. It’s not fancy but I like it. I hope Suess will too.”
Grinning at Zoe weakening, Drew said, “Nope not going to hurt at all. How are you at silencing charms?”
Drew laughed as the niffler darted out of Jona’s pocket and took the coins. It was clear that it had no issue about accepting them. “They have bags that might help out. I’m getting some for Pockets,” he commented quietly and held up a package of assorted items like fake coins and big silver buttons labeled Niffler Shineys with the description printed on the front that read ‘Having trouble with losing things to your niffler? Losing friends due to your niffler’s ways? Keep (some of) yours and others things safe with Niffler Shineys!’
He had to smile as Magnus slipped away to look at fish. Keeping an eye on both his oldest friend and Zoe, Drew went to pay for everything he’d accumulated thus far. Looking into his bag he wondered if he might be part niffler, even though his collection wasn’t necessarily shiny.
Magnus giggled. "Yeah but she's even stern to Paul. 'E'll be the 'appist fwooper that Drew Wilder's ever owned." This was a very safe argument.
"Oh I'm good," She said with confidence, "I mastered silencing a baboon last term in charms class."
"Ooh," Zoe said to the additional niffler toys. "Lewis needs some of those." She picked two. Magnus slipped his stuff up to the register and set it down, then headed to the fwoopers. Zoe smiled at them. "So pretty."
Drew grinned at Magnus’ comment both about Jean and about his fwooper. Considering it was his first and only he hoped he didn’t mess things up.
“Wow, that’s cool,” he said to Zoe. “You’ll have no problems getting a fwooper then.”
He watched Zoe with the birds but his eyes wandered to the other room after a bit. Still so much to see and he needed to get presents for a list of people. Drew edged toward the adjoining door so that he could peek in and also read part of the list of available things. Posters, yep his sister would love those or the puzzles. Plush animals were good for everyone according to Drew’s thinking and so were moving animal figurines. He’d have to check out all the clothing too…his dad loved t-shirts from different places. When Drew saw snowglobes listed, he grinned and knew exactly what he was getting his Mum. Now to make it to the other room…and also to the books…before their time ran out. He had some ideas but didn’t want to be rude and ditch the others.
"Thanks, I was practicing for my O.W.L.s was very pleased I did because the examiner gave me extra points for it when he turned the table into a baboon and I managed it," Zoe said smiling. She had a pink one on her and was melting. "Flossy," she said as if it told her its name.
Magnus picked some toys out. And poked Drew. "Oy mate, look they'll like rope toys and things they can chew. Birds love millet too. Oh and food." Then he whispered, "We'll go look in a few mintutes, I wanna some books and I get that mooncalf plushie."
Pulled out of his planning by Magnus’ poke, Drew flushed. How the heck had he forgotten food??! He was horrible at this already. Nodding at his friend’s directions he returned to the pet section and purchased food, millet, and a couple of toys. Drew was glad that Magnus was nearly ready to go to the other side of the store too.
The sight of Zoe and the pink fwooper though had Drew smiling again. “I think Zoe’s in love,” he said softly to Magnus. Then he said, “Flossy? Like candy floss? It fits her.”
Magnus snickered, Drew was distracted with other things now. He nodded. "I think she is too."
Zoe nodded. "Aye, tis my favourite sweet at fairs." She bit the side of her lip. "But... I'll have to pass. I'd have enough for the fwooper and the licence, but could nee buy a cage, food, or toys and would only have 2 galleons left for the rest of the store. And I really wanted some books." She smiled as she placed Flossy back in the cage. "I'll just have to birdnap Suess every once in awhile."
"I'll buy her the starter cage which comes with food, three toys and millet," Magnus said.
"Well..." Zoe said hesitatingly.
