I'm not sure, honestly. My instinct is to say to not trade/sell them away- as they will probably be useful in the future at the very least. My strategy has been revolving around choosing the time intensive bakes (the 60 and 75min items) and baking them ad nauseam. Mostly so I can just try to get the most xp per bake. That being said, a lot of the items are pretty far away from my level (T12), so who knows.
That's very true. I've already been stashing away items that aren't currently baking ingredients but would make a good choice for future recipes, so I guess stashing the things that have become obsolete at my level wouldn't be a bad idea either.
It seems like the short bakes give a decent percentage at first (just like the longer ones), which is why I was curious. I already have 3 excel worksheets dedicated to baking, but maybe I should add another to keep track of what I'm making and how much % I'm getting out of it...
Yeah, I guess it all depends as well. Like, looking at the Dark Matter Whoopie Pie - if you are overflowing with Dark Matter Fruit, I'd just sell it. The pies are such a low level and such a short bake that it likely wouldn't be worth it. Especially because they also use Baking Powder, which at its current cost, would probably be better spent elsewhere.
As for % - I think the general hypothesis is that the longer bakes and potentially the longer bakes from higher levels will give more xp. You can bake a million maple leaf cookies, but you probably won't even level up from it in the later levels (because the levels themselves require more xp.) So those cookies are good at the beginning, because level 1 is so quick, but crappy later. I'm sure if I could've baked a Bee Hive Cornbread (75min) at the beginning, I could've leveled up far quicker.
I'm usually so data focused, but I admit to being quite lazy in regards to baking. I'm not looking at my % at all. I believe the Bee Hive Cornbread was giving me around 5% all through level 11.
I would just sell the ingredients you do not wish to use. Or just keep baking the items until you run out, either way will be of benefit to you. Yes, you may only go up a a little bit in terms of baking experience for a lower level baking item, but it may be cheaper to bake the lower level item. Your strategy is really great, that is what I did to level up as well. I also stock up on the base ingredients and hoard them in my shop.
BTW I love your HA, is that a mask you are wearing or clever layering of facial makeup items?
I was getting a lot of percent from the cornbread as well - I baked over a hundred of those (I still love your HA but I cannot press the heart button a ton of times, sadly). lol :P

I really really extremely want:That's also a fair point. Baking powder is used for 17 recipes so at any given level there's a really good chance that you'll need it for something. And looking over the older recipes, the vast majority of them need one of the more expensive or over-used ingredients (baking powder/soda, cinnamon, cocoa powder)
5% doesn't seem bad for the cornbread at level 11 considering its 4 levels away. I'll keep that in mind :)
I guess in regards to baking I'll just stick to what I've been doing, and I'll also just save the items that I don't need anymore. Thanks for the advice!
I already have a ton of the basics - milk, flour, eggs, etc. It's just a matter of getting things that are over-used like baking powder.
The mask layering is
Oh, that is so clever, I love it! <3 Yes, certain items are super expensive. :/

With the increased price in baking powder, I had to take a break from my cornbread and ginger bread. (Also because I was sick to death of baking them.) Will probably return though since the Chai Bread isn't as satisfying.
Ambition - you're a higher level, what's your typical goto baking fodder at the moment?
Yes, Banana Nutmeg Chai Bread is an other one I baked a ton of!! Right now I bake whatever will give me 4% or higher, though I tend to price out each cake before baking and weigh it against the known experience I'll gain. Thus lately I've just been baking a lot of the bumbus cake and the coda cave and rustic berry wedding cakes.

I really really extremely want:I haven't made a single cornbread yet, but I'm quite familiar with the other three! lol. I think instead of the cornbread I was making the blueberry floral pies. At the time I had plenty of every ingredient except almond oil and that was only about 25k. Not a bad out-of-pocket cost compared to buying baking powder for cornbread (although the actual value of ingredients for the pie might be higher, I haven't dared to check because how much I've wasted would be depressing).
I should really start keeping a spreadsheet with ingredients, prices, and experience. I'm normally so good with my data, but at this point it just feels too late to start.
I'd be happy to share my ingredient sheet if you want it (assuming we're allowed to link to a google sheet?) but you'd have to add a pricing column manually because I haven't bothered to add that. I figured it would be too much of a pain to maintain. I use it as more of a list of things to grab while I'm in the store and a reference of how many recipes a particular item is used for (ie if black decorating frosting is only used for one recipe, I'm not going to prioritize buying it over blue which is used in 6 recipes).
Sure, that'd be helpful! I've never had a problem sharing google sheets, but you should probably PM it to me. I'll likely make a copy for myself so I can edit the crap out of it. I agree that pricing would be too difficult to maintain, but perhaps I'll add indicators for which items (from the lists of butter, eggs, sugar, etc) I've typically mass bought due to low prices.
You guys might want to check out the Donation Center ;)
OMG - thank you so much! everyone check out what just said!
Here is a quick link to the Donation Center for your convenience. Remember it is 1 item every 5 min! ^.^

I really really extremely want:Yay, DC party! And also yay more items! Thanks !
That being said, wowzers, look at the prices on some of those items! For a moment there, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was ONLY selling for 50m.
Yes, because it was a very high rarity item. :) That's already been updated and it'll start vending/restocking/etc now. Everything always jumps in price right when a recipe is released.
More stuffs to bake!
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
I mean, Cocoa Powder has been restocking at 300k for a long while now. I'm pretty sure Orange Food Coloring has been more expensive than a lot of things as well.
It's great that the rarities have been changed, as it'll allow more into the system. (That being said, wow, I have no wizard tokens thanks to the zapper ;P) It's also great that the DC got a load of items- I'll happily stalk it for quite a long time. But it doesn't really solve the problem of a lot of the ingredients being highly overpriced.
I mean, look at some others, for example: And they aren't even in any of the new recipes.
I know you can't fix it in an instant, but maybe consider alternative methods of baking good release into the economy? I think I posted about it in the suggestions board saying perhaps you could have a baking extravaganza and have the quests have a chance to give out supplies and things like that.
That's actually my fault, they weren't going out via the millionaire center bag. The most recent recipes (not the ones today, but the ones before). I forgot to run the script to update the bag, so those should be going out more via there too!
The quest idea is actually a thing i've been toying around with :)
Well thank the heavens for that! I've had to skip over quite a number of recipes due to the powder's costs.
And glad to hear about the quest stuff! Maybe tie it into the achievements.....? (Because let's be honest, the only reason I'm subjecting myself to this expensive tedium is for the maybe-impending achievements.)
