Yes, that is normal for having to replace things randomly. :-) I am sorry you burnt it. :(

I revived the thread to give achievements for baking... [Topic=911461] Fyi

God am I getting burned out. I was only around 50% of the way through lvl 18. But that darned lvl 20 bread. Ugh.

Baking a 75min Rustic Vetan Orange Ginger Bread? Yeah... It bumps me up by 2 freaking % each bake. Is lvl 19 only going to be upping by 1% each bake?!? Ridiculous.

items give out more baking percents than they used to, by a lot.

You get less percents from baking things that are a lower level than you. It becomes even less the lower it is compared to you. is level six, so you're kinda wasting your time baking that if your goal is to get more percents instead of the item.

I wasn't aware that the percentages had changed much since I first started baking... 3 years ago...

I can definitely try baking higher level things though. I hadn't heard of that theory. I guess I was going the route of general ease- I hate the recipes that take >10 items because it's difficult to "prep" ahead of time and have trades or invent packed.

it's easier than going to the grocery store? Batch baking isn't a thing here where you can bake cookies on the top shelf and bread on the lower one because we are sharing these ovens with everybody and NPC Fantine is kind enough. Baking multples of things is easier than in RL because your arms don't get tired from kneading etc. NPC Fantine's kitchen equipment is truly magical.

I have two coping mechanisms for dealing with ingredients myself.

I have a pantry category in my Vault and just buy a ton of things I know I'm gonna use again and again. That way if something's not around to restock I can still bake it nothing rots when it's Vaulted. My current long term project on this is to wait for cranberries and liquid yeast to drop in price and then buy a ton of them in anticipation for new recipes later.

I also empty my Inventory ahead of time to declutter what I have versus what I need versus other stuff that just playing Subeta dumps into your Inventory just by playing. If I'm missing a generic ingredient then I don't bother checking Inventory, I just dump five of whatever NPC Fantine says I'm missing out from my Vault.

I really hope we can get some achievements for baking - it is such a fun and under-utilized part of the site. :D Thanks for asking about it!

I hope you get get up to tier 20! I baked a ton of the bumbus cakes in order to progress more quickly through the levels, if that helps. ^^

In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, keep in mind that there is a chance of vending the Bag of Cranberries and Liquid Yeast from the Celebration Gift machine at the carnival! I've been vending there for the past few days and I've already gotten two of the cranberries :) It might be possible to vend Bottled H2O there also, but I'm not sure since it's rarity 60 and that might be the cutoff point...

Also, in case it might help anyone, I made a simple spreadsheet a while back with all of the right-side ingredients and what recipes they're used in:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10zdrJpll-33qTRX-T9kDzmSTptP8gdGzuLLBlIYOOI0/edit?usp=sharing

Could be useful if you have a rare ingredient and aren't sure which recipe it would be best used in, or if there's something you're not sure is actually an ingredient (like some of the syrups, food coloring, etc) and don't want to click through each individual recipe to find out. ^^

Anyone else need some motivation/cheering on to help them bake? I'm halfway through level 19 and it takes so much effort to make myself keep at it.

Thanks for the vending tip! I might just give that a go. :o

I'm nearly half way through level 20 right now. Haven't burnt an item in ages.

I volunteer to help a friend out with the new bakes... I've already burnt TWO things! 😫

I swear the site just knows...

Yes, somehow it knows that when you do not want to burn something or have not done so, then it burns!!! LOL

Bottles water is so high still but after a few months it'll go back down I think!

I'm roughly 70% through level 19. I'm so tired of baking the Mahar and Bumbus cakes, haha. Wish there was more savory options in the higher levels, so we're not all fighting over the same few ingredients.

Please forgive me if this is somewhere else, I didn't read every thread on every page here.

How many levels are there? I am 21 and there are no new things to bake but, I am supposed to just keep baking?

ThanX!

Yes there is no set highest level you are forced to stop at (as in no baking cap). So I suggest just keep baking away and have fun if you like it. ^^

Yea, I always get soo excited wen they release new items to bake! :D I might suggest just going one or two levels up in case they add a brand new baking item that is one or two levels higher. Then you can bake it without having to work extra hard for it at the moment it comes out. :D
