Outfit Not Found Gaia seems to have dozed off because she woke up in time to see Magnus holding his arm and walking away. "It would seem we need a demonstration on how to properly do the obstacle course, Captain." Gaia was a little more angry than she thought and blushed a little but quickly recovered. "Having you show us the correct way of handling the course might be a good way to go..." ()
If Magnus had heard Fade, he would have waited.
"I'm glad its not just me. It's 'ard getting used to adults telling me to do things. I'm used to looking after meself. Its nice but at the same time it gets annoying. Even 'ere I'm less on me own than I expected." Magnus smiled, "I'd've love to see you in dragon from fly that course. But look we are almost at the castle. It shan't be too long before I get grumbled at and patched up."
Merlin listened to Magnus and was distracted since he didn't noticed they were already close. "Great, we are almost here so you don't have to hurt anymore." He was thoughtful about the course. "If we were alone, I would do it, but I don't think I fit through the hoops in dragon form, and I might break the barrels." He laughs. "I'm a small dragon but not that small..or you think I can fit?" He was thoughtful, could it be in his head the hoops were smaller than they really were?
((OOC: I would have love to see Eros showing off his skills and letting us learn the right way, but maybe he just wants us to do trial and error. lol))
"WE could shrink you," Magnus laughed.
They got up to the hospital wing in short order. It was broken. With a fast wave of the wand, he was healed. The pain was gone almost instantly. If it was a more complicated break it might hurt for longer but thankfully it wasn't. So the boys left quickly before they could be asked what happened or told Magnus couldn't play.
Sauvage had considered to try out the course next, since they were down two spectators ( ) and that would mean less witnesses to her demise, but Fade suddenly rushed through the course next. He was doing really well, granted he did nearly everything sitting right-side up. Still playing with the idea of finally trying out the course for herself, seemed to be suggesting that Eros show them how it's done. And so, Sauvage remained silent during all of this, just sitting and taking in everything that was happening, quietly making notes of do's and dont's in her head.
Merlin was happy it was a quick fix and they were heading back in little time. "You really feel good enough to continue? Maybe when we arrive the second course is up and it's supposed to be more difficult. If it's more difficult then maybe I was right to suggest flying the broom while standing. No idea what will have to do next." Merlin didn't liked thinking about being shrunk. "I rather have the loops enlarged, if I get smaller I might be confused with a lizard." He giggles
"O' Course I can keep going. It don't urt much anymore. 'Sides I gotta make sure you all are show 'ow to fly the course. It was a small break. I've 'ad worse." He snickered, "Actually, I'm not convinced you aren't a lizard... I mean you say you can breathe fire..." Magnus' eyes sparkled. "'Ey, there's no one around... wanna fly back to the course and 'ave people wonder 'ow we got back so fast?"
Merlin smirks. "You mean fly back in our brooms or..." He whistles... "With wings?" He was up for both but didn't wanted any professor to see him in dragon form and call for help. "I'll race you!"
"Well dragon would be better, but brooms are cool too... we both forgot to leave ours..." His eyes twinkled and he mounted his broom. "On your mark... get...set.." And he took off before go, laughing and leaning in to accelerate as fast as he could. Cheating? Why not? It was all in fun.
Even when Merlin wasn't crazy about brooms, with the workshop he was at least getting more comfortable with them, plus he was always up for a challenge and a bit of competition. "You little cheat!" Merlin quickly accelerates to catch up with Mag but he was faster and started before he did, yet he wasn't giving up. He shrinks on his broom and moved faster much faster than he have ever flied on a broom before, so fast he couldn't see well but forgot to put on his goggles. "Damn!" With one hand he did his best to put the goggles over his eyes but ended up blocking his sight entirely. "BLOODY HELL!" Merlin slow down and fixed the goggles but when he looks up Magnus was way ahead. Still he went back to flying faster than before, a turn here and he almost hits a wall, but for the first time Merlin could say he truly enjoyed flying on a broom. He felt the thrill and excitement and decided that was what he needed- a bit of pressure.
(up to you who wins xD) Magnus was laughing heartily as Merlin called him a cheat. He hoovered in the air waiting for Merlin to catch up. When he did, Magnus gave the last part of their race a fair chance and took off again as Merlin reached him.
Eros hovered on the broom, folding his arm across his chest. Fade's attempt through the course was pretty decent, although, being right-side up had its advantage. "Good. Now that you know the course, question is, can you give it another go upside down?"
Eros then looked to Gaia, who he kind of blocked from existence until now. The silence from her was nice while it lasted. Although, her suggestion wasn't bad. "Ya know, I thought nobody would ask," he replied confidently. Without any hesitation, he zoomed forward, still on top of his broom. Halfway towards the first the ring, he flipped upside down, passing the first ring and barrel. The upside down view of the world was not disorienting to this Slytherin. He had kind of an advantage since he was use to it. It was one of the ways he practiced on his own, and he practiced a lot on his own outside of actual Quidditch practice.
There was no change in speed or direction as he passed the next three rings. The next barrel forced Eros to glide left a little, but he still got passed it with ease. The obstacles were more than rings and barrels in his mind. To him, they were Bludgers and other players. Imagining that he was in an actual Quidditch game made the course easy for him. He worked well under stress. Upon reaching the next ring that moved horizontally, Eros slowed down a bit. The rings immediately after moved vertically, so he was slowing down enough so that when he got through the first ring, he could accelerate and the other two rings would be aligning themselves for him to get through. The sixteen year old got pass the rings easily. Objects moving from side to side or up and down were not a challenge to the athlete. It would be the rotating one later that would be more difficult.
The teen had to decrease his speed as he made the u-turn around the goals, but picked it up again as he headed through the next ring and stationary barrels. As he approached the barrel that moved vertically, he kept a constant speed, only having to increase his altitude a bit to get pass the barrel. It was after the barrel that his speed slowed again as he approached the rotating rings. His eyes remained locked on the rings ahead as he counted in his head. Before even passing the previous barrel, Eros had already noted the point in which the opening of the next five rings aligned and started counting how long it took for it to get to that position again.
"3...2...1," and on one, Eros accelerated through the first ring and immediately leaned back on his broom, narrowly avoiding getting hit by the second one. He went smoothly through the third and fourth. For the last fifth in the series, Eros had to slow a bit to keep accelerating to get through. However, once he made it pass, he kept a constant velocity pass the last barrel and last two rings of the course.
As soon as he passed the final stationary ring, he slowed down and rolled back on top of his broom and circled around Gaia like a shark. "Did you take notes, Kavanagh?," he winked at her. "I practice like this all the time so I might have had an unfair advantage. That and that I designed this course. "
Eros then looked from her to the others. "Like I said, speed, timing, turns, and knowing what's ahead are all crucial. Also, when you're upside down...don't think about you being upside. If you have to, pretend like you're not, it's everything else that's not the right way up."
Merlin could see the group up ahead which mean the end of their race, as they approach neither slow down and Merlin wondered if he could do the obstacles without stopping, but he wasn't sure if someone was at them at the moment and if there was he could cause an accident so decided against it. Still he was not going to slow down until he reached the goal- the first static hoop. "I'm going to cross it!" Magnus reached the group a few seconds before Merlin, but he went straight to the hoop and couldn't stop for the barrel hitting the broom hard against it. Merlin flew off his broom, which broke in half after the hit and he went down fast. "Waaahhhh!!!" He screamed as he was falling and wondered if he should transform or wish someone will stop his fall. "Help!" He said when he saw the mud closing in.
.
They arrived back and Magnus saw the group. Did Gaia look really angry or was that his imagination. Then Merlin was calling for help and Magnus was the closest. "Arresto Momentum," he called, pointing it at Merlin and diving for his friend. He caught his friend right before the mud. But before he could pull up he managed to splash Merlin in some of it. They both flopped onto the ground. "You okay?"
Merlin was blinking fast. "NOT THE BLOODY MUD!" He made a dramatic gesture. "At least it's not on my hair, but...thanks! I want to do that again!" He grins and started looking for his broom. "Oh..." He saw the pieces. "I think I need to borrow one." He scratched his head and hoped Eros won't be yelling at him for being reckless. "Sorry captain!"
Eros flew down towards the ground to Magnus and Merlin. "Merls, you're practically asking for a mud bath today," he sighed, mostly from relief. Eros' eye then trailed over to where Merlin's broom has broken. He looked back at the two prefects. "Are you guys, ok?," Eros asked, also referring to Magnus' arm.
Magnus got his share of mud on him and was laughing, "You know, I think you're more accident prone than I am. No wonder the 'ealer was looking at you suspiously, she thought it'd be you." He giggled and splashed some mud at Merlin's direction. "I'll pen mum, she'll send you a brand new broom. What make you want?" He did a cleaning spell on him and all the mud was gone. He crossed over and did the same on Merlin.
Magnus nodded, "it twere broken, but its been mended now. I can surely break another two limbs before I am forced to give up for the day.
"It would seem you have something in your eye." Gaia said with a wicked grin. She didn't even wait for a response she was already making her way to the obstacles, did a few loops in top speed and then tied her hair in a bun for easier flying. She looked down and wave at Eros () and proceeded to mimic everything Eros did. With every movement she planned ahead. She had to admit Eros technique was almost as good as hers and she might feel a little admiration for the boy but she would never admit to that.
Passing the last ring she looped back and balanced her broom hovering on top of the ring, got up and took a quick bow. She mounted her broom and made her way to the group. There was very little Gaia would gloat about but Quidditch was her happy place. "Seems you are a pretty good teacher... Sigurd."
Merlin smiled at Eros and nods before answering. "i'm fine and Mag is all patched up, but hey I had fun for the first time!" He grins. "Which means I don't hate brooms anymore, so I want to try the upside down, standing, and blindfold curses!" He giggles. "Well that's what I want to try, a little exciment was what I needed." Merlin then looks at Magnus. "Oh no need, I'll tell mom to send me a new one but...I do get in a lot of accidents- you saw how I trip everywhere- apparently even in air." He laughs hard. "I'm a walking/flying threat"
"You sure?" he asked, "Mum makes 'em you know. I'm glad you like it now though. Now you can come practice with me." Then he saw Gaia go through the course with ease. "WAY TO GO GAIA!" he called out. "Come one," He said to Merlin and Eros. THen flew up to see his friend. "You did amazing! Anyone else try it?"
