. Magnus also clapped, happy to see Paddy make it through the few she tried. Any attempt was good in his book. Then Merlin said he planned on attempting it the right way before going upside down again and the boy wondered why he hadn't thought of asking if he could as well? It was a good idea so he perked his ears to make sure to hear Eros' reply

Eros watched as each student attempted, some a little more successful than others, but each just as respectable. There were a couple of close calls, although Eros wasn't too worried. A little mud never hurts anyone. A concussion might, but so far, everyone was keeping a good eye on their mates. "Speed, timing, turns, and knowing what's ahead. All these are important factors in order to get through the course successfully. Know when to accelerate and when to decelerate. Don't just focus on the immediate obstacle, but be aware of the ones after it, too," Eros advised. "I promise, it's easy. Once you get it, you'll be able to do laps around this without a sweat."

His attention then fell to Merlin. "Do what you have to do," he nodded with a subtle smirk.

It was the first time Eros had smiled and it made Fade’s stomach turn, literally. Slipping into an upside down position he hung for a few seconds and flew in a few small circles before struggling to flip right-side up. Wobbly and a bit disoriented he stretched his arms while watching Merlin and Magnus try the course. Thankfully both of the other boy were close enough to help prevent each others untimely muddy deaths.

Perhaps going around the course right-side up first was a better way to get acquainted with the obstacles. Merlin seemed to have the same idea. When Eros said it was alright, Fade cracked a smile but somehow managed to wait his turn. Passing the time by practicing flipping upside down and right side up. If he gathered enough momentum, it was much easier to change his orientation on the broom. A thought had also crossed his mind to use a sticking charm to help keep his limbs where they needed to be, but that sounded an awful lot like cheating. To bad his arm muscles were so pathetic. But the natural enhancements on the broom should help keep him where he needed to be… hopefully.

Merlin smiled when Eros accepted his request and went straight to it, passing the first few obstacles was a breeze while straight up, but Merlin made sure to pay all the attention needed: right speed, right movement, time between each, and keep in mind the wind might change your plans. As he moved on to the more difficult obstacles he struggled a bit, and even hit a few things once or twice, still he managed to pass them all without losing control, so he went back to the group and nods. "If anyone wants to try it before I go crazy and go upside down again, go ahead, I will practice my upside down flying in this side." Merlin thought he knew what his problem was, and it was lack of control while being upside down, so practicing was his choice before trying again. "I can do this." He said to himself. 'You have done things far more difficult than this, so just focus.' He thought as he starts practicing his flying. He tried it all, going fast, slow, twisting, going down, and up. If he can do that, he can pass all the obstacles.

Fade practiced and then Eros said they could go through the course right side up if they wanted. But he also gave tips. Merlin went through it the normal way and Magnus paid extra attention. The wind movement, the way the rings moved—knowing when to speed up and slow down. Why hadn’t he thought of deceleration? The answer, most likely, was because Magnus had only been flying for a few years and Eros undoubtedly had been for longer. He was a good flier, but there was lots of room for improvement.

Anticipate the target you are going through and the one after—think ahead. It had sounded so basic, but honestly it was a damn good tip. All about thinking ahead, paying attention and focusing. I can do this, Magnus thought. “Right,” he said, “off I go.”

He zipped around did a loop sweep, changing his position to upside down and accelerated through the first seven obstacles with ease. As he went through the barrel he swooped upwards and flew through the ring, changing course through the ring to re-angle his broom and get through the faster ring. The u-turn was smooth, and easy to get through the stationary barrels, knowing he got this far helped him feel confident to slip through the moving barrel. Now the trickier part, he sped up sliding though the first rotating ring, slowing down midway to get though the next ring, then he accelerated again as he adjusted to get through the next ring. Now he really sped up arcing around to hit the next two rings so fast he wasn’t sure he had done it correctly. He was as flat as he could be on the broom as he went towards the barrel but he missed it, and had to go back. Once through that barrel, he swung wide and slipped through the ring, hitting his arm on the ring. Then he was through the last ring and flipped right way up. He made it through—it wasn’t clean but he did it. His arm was hurting pretty well though. He held his arm as he got back over to the group. Should he run to the hospital wing to have it checked on? He wasn’t sure but he was feeling pretty good at having gotten through the course. “I totally ‘ave to try it again, till I get through it cleanly.”

Eros watched as Magnus finished the course. "Well done, Mags. Not bad at all." Eros was impressed, though he downplayed it a bit. He then noticed that the boy was holding his arm. "I don't think you can do another run if you're holding you arm like that. Are you alright, mate?," Eros asked with genuine concern. Eros knew a healing spell for minor injuries, but he wasn't too confident about casting it. Episkis. Epidiskey. Episkos. He wasn't sure. While a confident athlete, he wasn't the best student, so he didn't trust his knowledge of the spell enough to perform it, if it even worked for this sort of stuff. "Do you need to see the nurse?," Eros flew closer to the werewolf to get a better gauge of if Magnus was in a lot of pain or if it was just something an ice pack would fix.

(probably a minor break I'm thinking. So he'll be ready to go lol as soon as he does go lmao)

"Thanks," he said with a blush. "It wasn't smooth but it's a start." Then Eros was asking him if he was okay, and he sounded like he meant it. "To be 'onest, I ain't sure. It 'urts enough for me to 'old it, but part o' me says its fine. I ain't the best at judging 'ow bad it is. Cos in comparison to shifting most injuries don't urt as bad. Guess the safest thing would be to run up to the 'ospital wing and 'ave them take a look at it. Dittany can't mend bones if it is a break." When he shifted several bones broke at once, so he was clueless on how bad it was. It hurt enough his hand was shaking and he was in a good deal of pain so if it was broken and he played with it, it could lead to bigger problems. He looked extremely disappointed to have to go.

Merlin went toward Magnus as he saw him injured. Do you need me to go with you to the hospital wing? I think you should really check that out." He was concerned, and he also knew Mag didn't always paid much attention to injuries but he should. "I don't want Paul to send me a cranky note later." He tried to joke a bit.

Eros nodded. "Okay then. Go get it checked out," Eros replied and looked to Merlin, who volunteered to escort the Ravenclaw to the hostpital wing. Eros turned his attention back to Magnus. "Also, remember, you signed a waiver. You can't sue me or the school," Eros smirked.

"I'll go get it checked. You don't ave ta come if you'd rather practice Merls." He chuckled at the cranky note from Paul. Yeah, it'd be cranky alright. But Magnus down right laughed at the wavier remark. "Ah, but I signed for Merlin's pet snake, Thunder... so I can sue you at me leisure." He laughed. He didn't, of course but the boy couldn't help trying for some comedy. "I'll be back, I guess." He started off for the hospital wing--still on his broom.

"Later then." Merlin waved, still feeling reluctant about staying yet it was a good thing he had good humor. Then as Merlin saw Magnus leave, he decided to go anyway. "I'll be back Eros, I just want to make sure he arrives safely." Merlin flied quickly until he reached Magnus and smirked as he steps beside him. "Won't get rid of me that easily, I'll make sure you arrive well and then go back to practice." He smiled to the wolf and kept by his side.

Magnus hopped off his broom, using his good hand to hold it. "Thanks for coming...and Thunder thanks you for signing 'im up for the practice run." Magnus laughed and then winced when his arm grazed his chest.

Merlin went through the obstacle course first, right-side up and quite effortlessly. He'd scoped out the obstacle course now and was giving other students a chance before putting his newfound experience to use. Sauvage watched, amazed, as Magnus looped through the obstacle course. It wasn't perfect, but it was certainly the best anyone had done so far. When he returned to the group, though, he was holding his arm awkwardly and looked to be in minor pain. "What eez wrong? Do you zink you broke your arm, or per'aphs eet eez just bruised?" If the arm was broken then Brackium Emendo would do the trick, though she wasn't too confident in implementing the spell. "Eef your arm eez broken, zen I can make a splint wiv Ferula, or eef eet eez more uv a minor injury zen Episky should 'elp." Sauvage listed all the healing spells her mom had taught her, only feeling comfortable enough to actually perform the latter two. edit: ((OCC: ignore my post - ya'll are faster at responding than I am))

Eros lingered a bit as he watched Merlin head off to catch up to Magnus. After a minute, Eros turned his broom around and went to keeping an eye on the other students and their attempt at the course. His face had returned back to its stoic state. "Alright, mates. Who's going next? Preferably without breaking anything."

((lol, you pinged :P))

Merlin laughed. "If Thunder could fly a broom, then that would be quite spectacular!" As he sees Magnus wince in pain Merlin was glad he decided come. "Does it hurt lots? You think it broke? When I get back I'm going to try it again, and then I want to try it while standing on the broom." He laughs. "I may not fit through some of those hoops thou, so I will have to duck. I would be quite acrobatic if I can do it." Then he added as a joke. "Also i want to try it with my eyes closed, but Eros may not let me."

((OOC: Oh if we only knew sooner, we might have avoided a trip to the nurse! lol This things are always crazy))

Sauvage had offered to help, and he had appreciated it but thanked her and said he'd get it checked just to make sure.

"Well 'e could 'old onto the broom at least," Magnus said with a laugh. He nodded. "I think I broke something. Its startin' to urt more as we go. But I'm a tough old bird, so it'll be okay. Flick of the wand and I'll be sorted. I'd like ta see you try it... mind you if you do it with you're eye closed, I should put a trampoline under you."

Merlin laughed at his old comment. "I believe you are younger than I am. How can you be an old bird?" But in truth was worried about his friend, yet he was right, a flick of a wand should fix it. "I will learn more healing spells, I promise. I know the spell of a few but haven't tried them, so I better not even mention it. When I learn, then i will fix you when you need it." he grins, helping others seems like something he enjoyed, and he definitely needed to learn how to heal- soon. So many accidents lately. "What is a trampoliine?"

Magnus laughed, "Well, it's true I'm almost always the youngest in anything. This summer I'll be 13. I needa learn more meself. I mean if I'm gonna be a ealer. But totally will like the extra 'elp around." Then Magnus smirked, "A trampoline is a thing you jump and bounce on. Its lots of fun. Got one at 'ome. Should've 'eard me dad question its stablitity. 'E's not so keen on muggle things--but 'e's set in 'is ways."

((bah! I'm late to everything XD poor Mags always gettin beat up. Putin all my pings here. Sorry this is so wordy DX ))

“I know a healing...spell.” He flew in closer, but he was too late and Magnus already had company to the hospital wing. A little disheartened, Fade hovered closer to the ground. Turning back to eye the obstacle course he suddenly felt like he had a vendetta against it, the one floating ring in particular. “I’ll go.” He took breath and on the exhale flew towards the first set of stationary objects, a ring and couple of barrels. Dodging them was child's play, but he reminded himself that he was still right side up.

Slowing on the next approach he made mental notes on how fast the rings were sliding and in what direction. Carefully he timed his deceleration so he dropped through the first and accelerated to dip past the second without any major issues. The next ring was stationary and he didn’t have to alter his trajectory much to pass through.

Next came a barrel, it was moving quicker than the rings but all he needed to do was dodge it. Giving himself plenty of space he flew up and over and then narrowly miscalculated the next moving ring. The end of his broom tapped it as he sailed through the opening causing him to wobble considerably. Slowing down he looked past the next obstacle to the faster one moving behind it. He almost came to a stop but keeping time in his head found an opening and zipped past both rings and went into the u-turn.

The next ring and set of barrels he passed without any issue, but when he got to the rotating ring he wasn’t so sure of himself. This time he did stop, there wasn’t any rule that said he couldn’t. Watching the first ring, looking past to the second and finally the third he started counting again. There was one moment every eight seconds where the rings all matched up. If he flew upwards from his current position when he got to six he should be able to make it through all of them.

Almost all of them, once again the end of his broom was tapped and the next ring came on much faster than he would have liked. His grip tightened on his broom and a sweat broke out over his entire body. His adrenaline was pumping but somehow he passed the next set of rotating rings. Giving himself a second to catch his breath he arched backwards and came at the last barrel from a fresh angle choosing to go over rather than around to give himself a good position for the last fast moving ring. Passing it he let out the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding and for good measure flipped upside down to pass through the last, mercifully stationary, ring.

Merlin smiled sweetly at that, being the youngest at anything was something that happened to him a lot back home, since he was the only child around. "I don't get to be the youngest at things in Hogwarts, which I love. Back home I got tired of being told that I was not allowed because I was too young. I hate that kind of reply." Merlin listened to his explanation of a trampoline and still wasn't sure if he knew what it was. "It sounds like fun but I'm not sure how it looks like." Merlin felt like Magnus was in a lot of pain so he said. "We should have fly all the way there, it was an emergency." He grins thinking about flying inside school.
