Merlin never meant to bother the girl with his questions, but since she answered so harshly he just nods and sits down away from the group swearing not to ask anything to anyone again. His social skills were as bad as ever, of course he noticed she was a beginner, that didn't mean she wouldn't have tried playing with friends at home or something. So he just looked away wondering if he should have even come, instead of wasting his time in things he was obviously terrible at, he should have used that energy in things he was actually good at.
((OOC: I'm not upset with you sauvage, Merlin is just too sensitive about his lack of social skills so he takes things too hard on himself.))
(another migraine >.< hopefully I won't be too out of it to play)
Magnus was laughing at Eros' facepalm, because seriously he felt like doing that too. "Eros, we can stun 'im and tie 'im down." he snickered. "I can do 'andstands on me broom." He nodded at the quidditch question. "I like playing chaser and seeker the best."
He watched as Sauvage and Fade flirted and wished they'd just kiss already.
Merlin answered to Magnus in almost a whisper. "I obviously can't do handstands on the broom and obviously have never played the game or will ever play it." He sighs and looks to the sky thinking about flying away to a place where he felt more at home.
"But you can try catching a ball," Magnus said. "We can hover close to the ground and try some things like that if you want."
Merlin got really quiet and seemed to back off, which worried Sauvage. She wasn't sure what she had done or said wrong, but was determined to make it right. She took a few steps closer to Merlin, but kept her distance so he didn't feel she was encroaching on him. "What about you, Mairlon? What kind uv books do you prefer to read? And what do you mean by 'creatures'?" It was then that Sauvage realized that she didn't really know much about Merlin. She tried to smile encouragingly at him, hoping it was enough to get him to open up.
((OOC: That's your name - I swear. It's just French accents make things weird sometimes))
Merlin shook his head. "I better not try, every time I have tried during class the ball goes the wrong way. I was not born for this sport or any sport, better leave it to those that can actually play it." He gave a small smile to Magnus and then looked away again.
Suddenly he saw that strange girl get close and ask him something he didn't quite understood since he was too distracted translating his name. Then after a few moments he realized she was waiting for him to answer so he thought about what she said after Morlion, was it that she called him? "My name is Merlin, like the famous wizard but of course I'm nothing like him." He kept thinking what she asked and then remembered. "I like most books but my favorites are about dragons, potions, plants, err magic in general." He nods thinking those were the most important ones and then adds. "Creatures are exactly that, all creatures like dragons, griffins, thestrals, snakes, hippogriffs, owls..even puffskeins." He tried to smile to her but was too nervous to do it and only twitch his lips a bit.
Blushing bright red, Sauvage said, a bit frustrated, ""I know oo Mairlon eez." She was a bit annoyed but tried to calm down. He'd basically just made fun of her accent, but surely not on purpose. This did however make her quite flustered and embarrassed, causing her accent to come out stronger and thereby making her more self-conscious to speak at all. "Books zat are about dragons?" Sauvage chewed her lip, she'd never really read books about dragons. But potions and plants she could talk about for ages! Only problem was now she felt too embarrassed to talk with her accent. So she said, quietly and a bit pathetically, "I like potions and plants."
Merlin realized what he just did when he saw the girl blush and said she knew who Merlin was, he really never realized that saying what first come to mind wasn't really the best way to go and that if he was maybe paying more attention would have realized sooner than now that it was her way of saying his name. So he tried to apologize, even when he knew for sure that it would be worse. "I'm sorry...I didn't...well I didn't realize it was your accent and not that you didn't knew my name. I was not trying to make fun of you...I would never do such a thing." He felt quite uncomfortable and really wanted to vanish, why was he soooooo terrible at a simple conversation? So he tried for the last time. "Yes there are books about dragons, and I am fascinated by them. My favorite book is From Egg to Inferno: a Dragon-Keeper's Guide but I guess not many like dragons as much as I do." He blushed a bit since he was quite aware of his constant obsession with the creature. "Well to be good at potions I consider it is very handy to be also good with plants, and since I love nature I like knowing about the trees, the roots, the leaves, the flowers and all their properties. Did you know there are black flowers in the forbidden forest?" Was he talking too much? He surely was because everyone else was quiet. "I'm sorry." He shut his mouth and blushed and wished Eros would just tell them their next move.
"No! Don't stop now! Zair are black flowers in zee forbidden forest and...? What eez eet zat zay do?" Sauvage merely nodded in accepting his apology for indirectly making fun of her accent. Best to move on rather than dwell on things, especially since he was not the best at making conversation. Her ears perked when he began talking about plants, though, and now she waited with sparkling eyes for him to continue.
Merlin looked at everyone, especially Magnus wondering if he would help him out since he was obviously great with people even when he thought he wasn't, but he seem to be just listening. "Well, I didn't knew much about them until my workshop. We went to the forest to get them, they are magical in the strangest ways. For starters only children can see them while they are attached to the roots, but once they are cut they release random magic that may result in many different things, but after that anyone can see the flower. It is very rare and I never heard that from another flower. But the magic it releases its not dangerous but could put you in a dangerous situation. I got whiskers once, but also turn into a very old man and could hardly move. Magnus got turned into a bunny, and there were many other reactions. I now have a few and will be conducting tests on it to try find anything more on them. I sent one to my mom too." He smiled thinking of the adventure. "We went through a lot to get them, but was worth it. If you want I can show it to you one day. It takes long for it to witter which is also great." Merlin wasn't sure if she would believe him, but at least he wasn't alone when all that happened.
"Zat is so eenteresting!" She smiled and jumped in place a bit, excitedly hearing about a new plant. "Oh, I weesh zat I could 'ave gone! I meesed zee trip into zee forest. And I would love to see zees flower! I would also be eenterested een what you discovair from your tests wiv it." With that, Sauvage figured Merlin had had enough so she wandered back over to Fade and Paddy ( ), hop
((Long explanation post is long. Sorry :P))
"Alright, mates. Break over," Eros got up and grabbed his broom and pulled out his wand. He pointed it at the course above them, and suddenly, all the barrels lowered themselves to the ground. The rings, however, remained floating in the ,except they were now realigning themselves. None of the rings rotated this time. In fact, all of them moved horizontally, from side to side. They weren't perfectly aligned, forcing the a flyer to either move left or right in order to get through the next one. They also moved at various speed.
"The Woollongong Warriors have a tactic they use to bring a little chaos to the field. At the same time, it's one that also takes precision in order to avoid colliding with another player. If you seen their games, or even know of them, you'll know the move. The Woollongong Shimmy. In groups, it can cause confusion and be quite a distraction to the opponents. In order for this move to be successful, each player have to be...sharp. Precise with their movements while remaining fast. The tactic move look messy at face value, but the technique should be anything but." Eros paused and then pointed up to the rings overhead.
"The course has changed, re-purposed to test your high-speed zigzag flight skills. Same objective as before minus being upside down. And with a few new challenges. For starters, you will NOT be alone going through the course. You'll have company." Eros walked over to a closed box sitting next to all the other open boxes of Quidditch pads and gears. He knelt down to open it, revealing a bunch of belts with flags attached to them by Velcro. There was the option of either gold or silver flags. "Each of you will be wearing a flag. You will have two objectives while going through the course...aside from successfully completing it. One, avoid getting your flag taken. Like I said, you will not be flying through the course alone this time. Another student will be chasing you. If they successfully remove your flag from the Velcro belt, you've failed and have to try again."
"Two, you must capture one of the red flags attached to the goals when you are making a u-turn around them. If you fail to do so, you have to do another lap until you do. So recap. Zigzag through the rings. Don't let your flag get taken. Grab a flag from the goals. No rules against slowing down or stopping, but doing so might get your flag taken. Any questions?," Eros finished and looked to the group. "Oh," he remembered and turned away for a moment to look at the goals at the other end of the pitch. "Revelio!," he casted. The previously invisible red ribbons were now visible, loosely fixed to the goals so they could easily be yanked off.
"Grab a belt, and let me know who wants to go first and who wants to chase them. Chasee slash target will get a two seconds head start."
obstacle course
Note: For rings of the same speed, as one ring moves left, the next one move right, and so on.
((OOC:
So either one of those 3. Up to you guys. ))
"Oh," Magnus said, "okay..." his face fell and his slipped his hands in his pockets. He was feeling out of sorts. Merlin and Sauvage started talking. He thought Merlin didn't want his help so he stayed quiet. Maybe he really was feeling moody because of the impending moon?
Magnus saw the new course, it sounded fun but difficult.
(( WHAT YOU FORGOT ABOUT ME??))
Clapping and cheering for her friends Gaia enjoyed the workshop from where she was sitting. has gotten better at flying and Fade () can control his hair changing more now. She wondered if Magnus () was playing match maker. Then Merlin tried the course and she shook her head while smiling. Her friends were a health hazard. She felt overwhelmed as her focus was not with the group of kids. Then Eros () started talking "I would like to go against you. Is that allowed, Eros?" Gaia was fierce but a wicked grin spread across her face.
((lies :P he told her to go ask Eros ;) was waiting to add more, cos you weren't here :* ))
Magnus' jaw dropped again. His friend's grin was a little scary and the boy was glad she wanted to go against Eros, she'd flatten Magnus in like 2 seconds...
He narrowed his eyes at the girl before turning to walk away. Eros picked up a belt with a silver flag from the box and wrapped it around his waist before walking over to Gaia, standing about a fifth of a meter away from her. "And who would be chasing who?," he cocked his head and folded his arm across his chest, curious.
Outfit Not Found Before we decide "Let me sweeten the pot... If you win against me you can come with us to Magnus' mom practice and can join us to watch a professional game during our holiday." Gaia waited for Eros () to respond and turned to Magnus ()"Is that good? I asked." She grinned at her friend.
Magnus smiled and tried not to laugh, this was a crazy day. "It works for me, but Eros should sign a wavier if 'e comes, just so no one gets sued." He snickered
"Spending more time with you sounds more like a punishment," he squinted his eyes a bit as he considered it. However, attending a practice with the Harpies and seeing a Quidditch game was a hard invitation to pass up. "Alright, and if I lose? What do you want?," he asked. ()
His eyes drifted to Magnus, though, when the other boy made a tease about signing a waiver. "You may want to add a clause about stress and emotional damage from hanging with you lot," he smirked. ()
