Magnus' eyes bugged as Sauvaged played with Fade's hair. Inside he was beaming. Yay! It was about time.

Merlin smiled and felt he could trust Magnus, and nods. "It is very awesome, I'm very fond of them and even have a pet dragon named Meolc. She is still a baby dragon but has grown enough and obviously can't keep her in school." After listening about his special place Merlin could understand, he had a place like that in his villa but even when he enjoyed many places in Hogwarts, there was still no place like that. "Maybe you can find a place you enjoy to go to, I like the forest, but its off limits so.." He shrugs and decides to keep to himself the part when he constantly sneaks in anyway.

"Wow, that's sooo cool. I'd love to meet her sometime. Where do you keep her, since she can't come to the school? My grandparents 'ave a dragon farm beside them. So I can pet the babies when we visit Wales." He nodded. Hm... the forest... could he sneak in there? "Yeah too bad... its off limits."

When it registered that was playing with his hair the strands promptly turned white matching his face while the color drained away. Fade dropped his pencil and his mouth got very dry. “G-galaxy yeah, guess so.” Really he couldn’t tell if what he was saying was even coming out as words. He just sort of sat there absorbed in the moment for a second before flinching. A very bright red began spreading from where she had touched his hair and eventually consumed his entire head.

Really he hated that it was so hard to contain it, especially around this many other people. It was a little bit too much. He ran both his hands through his hair and forcibly turned it an ashy shade of blonde. For whatever reason it was the easiest color to hold onto for an extended period of time. His face however remained bright red. “Sorry.” He apologized to the tablecloth and couldn’t bring himself to make eye contact with anyone.

Merlin smiled, it made him happy to know people liked dragons. "Well I keep her at home, of course. She has other dragons there to accompany her, not the mother since she died but her father lives. Even when he is a real mean dragon. But Meolc is quite gentle..for a dragon I mean." Merlin loved the idea of petting baby dragons, especially when he have been there in several occasions, yet sometimes he wasn't allowed to get near the babies at all, he guessed not even the babies of those species where safe to be around. "That's so cool that you have gotten the chance to pet them, they are such fascinating creatures. I'm sure you can meet Meolc one day, I bet she could fly here but it is obviously forbidden." Merlin laughed at the idea of his dragon coming to school and scaring everyone. "It would be so much fun to see everyone running and screaming thou."

"Too bad about 'er mum." He genially looked sad, then shook it off and Magnus laughed, "It would be fun, you'd have to do it during a boring subject--divination is a good choice." His eyes lit up. "I bet they'd be a lot more scary than flobberworms attacking." Yes, he still had the silly image of the rampaging flobberworms. "Maybe you could meet us during the break and visit the dragon farm?"

Magnus saw his friend get uncomfortable but had no idea what to say or do... so he pretended to not notice.

"That is so incredibly cool!" Drew said. "A mum who was actually on a Quidditch team and still practices with them. My little sister is going to freak when I happen to mention in a letter that I have a friend with a Quidditch playing mum." Then seeing the look in Magnus' eye when the hexes were discussed, he shook his head with a smile. "Not telling all my secrets," Drew said, "suffice it to say that when I was about ten and was being extremely stubborn, Mum's patience ran out and she said if I was going to act like a stubborn little donkey I could just be one the rest of the day. So she hexed me and I had ears and a tail...kinda like in the movie Pinnochio. The bad thing was we were meeting some of our homeschool friends, who were also magical, in the park and she refused to lift the hex, so yeah, I got a lot of teasing from my friends that day," Drew blushed at the memory.

As Magnus began chatting to , Drew looked over at the others and saw begin playing with Fade's () hair. He had to hide a grin. He felt sorry for the other boy, but the way his hair changed was rather amazing. Noticing Fade's doddling, Drew tried to ease a bit of the tension. "Hey, Fade, I have one of the Gordian Knot clasps that they use to secure the cloaks at Ilvermorny if you want to use that to sketch the design."

"Yeah it was very sad, but because of that I got to adopt her, not that I am happy her mom died." The idea of the dragon causing a stir during divination sounded perfect. "Oh that would be a great thing to predict; professor I predict we will be attacked by a dragon today. Then it happens and I'm turned into a seer!" He couldn't stop laughing at the silly idea. "Dragons are definitely more terrifying that flobberworms, even when they are more disgusting because dragons are stunning."

Merlin's eyes lit up with the idea of going to the dragon farm and taking Meolc with him. "That would be genius! I would love to go and I'm sure my baby too."

He nodded. "The 'Arpies are always trying to get 'er to come back. Pretty neat bunch they are." Then drew was explaining the hex and Magnus tried to make his snicker sound like a cough. He didn't think it sounded very convincing though.

He nodded. "Yeah, I get it. I mean if things 'adn't 'appened the way they did, I'd not have me new parents so I totally get it. Good things come from sad things and all." Magnus snickered quietly. "Top marks for knowing the impending doom was coming. Well flobberworms are the dullest thing on the plantet I think..." He beamed at Merlin's egarness. "Brilliant, I'll pen me mum and see if she can arrange it. "

Drew wrinkled his nose and made a face at Magnus' ill concealed snicker. Then with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he said, "Aww...need a drink for that cough, Magnus? I could get you something." He reached for his wand knowing the other boy would remember what had happened with the eclair. Who knew where the drink might end up, but there was the chance it might splash a bit on his snickering new friend...

(éclairs? Oh is that why someone was covered with stuff? We missed that lmao) Magnus laughed. "Dude, after you stole me waffles? No way..." His snicker turned to a full out belly laugh

(lol yep, Drew is not good with spells yet and his attempt at bringing an eclair to himself ended in disaster)

Drew joined the laughter, not upset at all and liking the easy camaraderie he felt forming with Magnus. Lightly poking the younger boy in the arm, he grinned and said teasingly, "Alright, waffle wolf. You're safe from my spell attempts this time."

"'Ey, them were good. If a guy can't 'ave 'is waffles safe what can 'e 'ave?" His arm to his forehead with exaggerated drama, "Oh 'what world with such people in it' ain't nothing sacred anymore?" Green eyes shinning with laughter at his clear joke. "Actually the waffle war was brilliant, got me ta eat without so much a struggle." He was likewise liking Drew. He seemed pretty easy going as well.

Drew laughed at Magnus' theatrics. "Well the waffles were 'goodly'," he said with a smile, catching the other boy's reference. "And I'm glad that the waffle war helped you out. Are you up for sampling any more of the foods? Personally if you have a sweet tooth like me, I'd recommend the maple syrup candy. When my family went to Vermont one winter, we stayed at a farm that not only had sleigh rides and ice skating, they made the candy so I sampled a lot of it there...not to mention having maple syrup on my pancakes at breakfast."

( oh that's what I was in college :D Shakespeare is one of my fav authors. Its Paul's fav too.)

He shook his head. "I'm full. Honestly, if it wasn't for the vampire blood I 'ad when I left for a moment I'd've not been able to eat any of that waffle war..." His eyes widened as he realised what he had said. CRAP. Mortified Magnus started panicking. He glanced at the direction of his bag wondering if he should flee.

(awesome! Yes, my students couldn't understand why I loved Shakespeare. It was always moan and groan and why do we have to study this stuff that we don't understand...and then they would start reading and I would explain and at least a few of them came out enjoying it 😄)

Drew's eyes widened slightly at Magnus' comment. He honestly didn't know much about werewolves and vampires other than what he'd read in books. And Magnus had just explained the reason he'd left at least once. Then seeing his friend's reaction, Drew tried to make light of things, not wanting Magnus to leave again. "Well it must have given you quite a boost considering your part in the waffle war. I could barely hold my own." He looked at the younger boy and said quietly, "I might not be all that familiar with things, Magnus, but you can talk to me about stuff if you want. I'm not going to run away in fear and I sure won't turn my back on a friend."

"Y-you... don't think that... it's freaky? Taking vampire blood to 'eal me is kinda...you know..." He looked down and rubbed his hand through his hair. "That's why i don't look like death anymore..." he said still not looking at the older boy.

Drew shrugged. "It's no more freaky than Muggles taking pills for their aches and pains, or Mum brewing a potion for me when I'm sick. It's something that you needed to get you feeling better again. Who am I to judge what you need and don't need?" he said. "I'm just glad that you have a way to help heal after what you have to go through."

Magnus relaxed. "Well only second time its ever been tried really, But at least I don't feel so worn out. And it sped up me recovered by days." He looked shyly at Drew and gave a tentative smile... "Guess if you think of some of those ingredients than potions can kinda be creepy..."

Nodding, Drew said, "you got that right! And then Mum expects me to drink it, knowing what she put in it." He made a face. He looked at Magnus and asked curiously, "How long does it normally take to recover?"
