Merlin looked at Magnus seriously. "You know, maybe you should try find something good about your condition, even if its hard. I really don't know what can be positive about being a warewolf, but maybe there is! I just don't want you to be sad. I'm pretty much obsessed with dragons, so if I turn into one maybe we can hang out." He laughed. "We will be terrifying."
Merlin had heart shaped eyes. "Really? A bakery? You must give me the address and the password to go buy goodies when I go to London...hopefully soon." He was thoughtful. "Maybe I can convince my mother to take me if I keep getting good grades." He smiled thinking about desserts. "If Slytherin wins the cup this year I will ask her to buy me tons of goodies!" He then wickedly smile. "I WILL MAKE MY HOUSEMATES LIVES IMPOSSIBLE! WORK WORK WORK!"
"My favorite was of traveling...is flying too. Feeling the wind against your face is the best."
"Of course, I'll write it down for you before the end of the workshop. I'll write down the code word it you want magic good as well. She employees a couple of witches as well as muggles but they work separate times, to avoid confusion"
"You should give it a try sometime Magnus (). You can get some second hand pots and pans, so you don't have to worry about ruining expensive ones. And always follow the recipe, until you get the hang of it"
"Maybe you can come riding too?" Magnus said
He listened to Merlin but honestly he couldn't think of a single positive thing and shrugged his shoulders. "I try not to be..." Then he laughed, "Paul, he'd agree with you. He loves dragons. They are really cool and changing into one would be awesome."
"It'd be more difficult to find somewhere I could go to try since I cant use magic."
((aw dang . Drew was really liking Eirik. Hate to see him go. I will have to check out the newcomer though))
Drew's head came up at the mention of winged horses. Now that was an idea. As much as he loved riding, maybe he would feel more comfortable on one of them instead of a broom. A horse would be less likely to do loops too...at least he hoped so. "If you do get the horses I'd like to try riding one," he said to Magnus. () "I like riding Fleet at a gallop, but that's on the ground," he smiled. "Maybe I could pretend I was just out for a ride, as long as I didn't look down."
With all the talk about cooking, Drew said, "Could we maybe try out some baking in the kitchens here?" (, , )
The boy nodded. "Sure, I'll be 'appy to. Paul got most of the creatures for the care of Magical Creatures club. So I doubt it'd be too difficult."
Drew nodded and smiled. "Paul sounds like a cool guy," he said. "And earlier when you were talking about your home, it sounds really nice...and huge. Ours is nothing that grand, but my uncle's is since he inherited the title and the castle when Grandfather passed away. Mum got the manor house and she said that was plenty for us."
"'E is, one of me best friends. I found out 'e was the auror that rescued me so that kinda makes it even cooler." His eyes lit up. "Castle? woah that's really cool. But a manor is nice too. What title does 'e 'ave?"
Merlin was really happy with this. "Thank you so much! I surely will buy enough desserts to share in my villa."
Merlin smiled. "Dragons are my thing, after all.." He whispered so only Magnus could hear. "I live among them, but don't tell."
Merlin smiled at Drew. "I would cook if we didn't had so much food already, I will bake a few cookies for my workshop but not many."
"How?" he asked as quietly. Now, now he was VERY interested.
Merlin pull Mag to the side and kept whispering. "Is my villa, it is a reserved of dragons, they take care of them, help them breed, and study them - all about them. I'm the only young one that lives there, but shouldn't. Guess I'm lucky, but it is quite dangerous too." Merlin looked nervously to the sides. "I haven't told many, but its a secretive place that only few know how to enter- it is protected like Hogwarts with charms and spells."
(OOC: I'm off to sleep-early work tomorrow)
"My Mum's family is from Scotland, so Uncle Michael is Laird McGovern now, head of clan McGovern," Drew told Magnus. "And yeah the castle is cool. It's big, not nearly as big as this one of course, but there is a lake, stables, and gardens. Mum said she's more than fine with the manor house cause it's smaller but still has roomy stables and nice gardens. And it came with help. We'd never had house elves in the States so it was a bit of a surprise, at least for everyone but Mum, to be welcomed by them. They came with the manor house, but to be honest even after two years, I'm still not totally used to them. Uncle Mike inherited a lot of them with the estate. There's two of them that are my favorites when I visit, Tenner and Peachy. Peachy is pretty much my cousin Flora's personal house elf. Peachy thinks Miss Flora is the best child ever, though she spoils my sister Bridget when we visit too. Maybe it's just something about girls." Drew shrugged.
Magnus' face was in awe. "That sounds incredible," he whispered, "Don't worry won't tell anyone. I didn't have anything like that--but there was a little alcove in the woods at the orphanage--I'd go there and read and stuff to be away from the din of the kids. It was really awesome." He hadn't found something like that yet at either Hogwarts or his house. And of course that alcove wound up being where he was attacked... but that didn't change how special it had been, even if it couldn't compare.
(sleep well.)
"That sounds amazing!" Magnus said to Drew. "Both of them. Dad inherited a 'ouse elf too. 'Er name is Mimsy. She's really nice. One of the family really. Dad don't like to 'ave her do too much. So 'er running orders are to clean the rooms as she pleases. She don't seem to prefer anyone really--except Dad, but she kinda raised 'im... are you sure you don't you know... cause trouble?" he winked mischievously.
"Me? Cause trouble?" Drew said with an innocent look. "Now what would give you an idea like that?" He grinned impishly. "I think it's mostly just that Peachy has known Flora all her life and is attached to her. And she's not bad for a girl," he said. "At least she wants to be in Slytherin, so she's got good taste, unlike my sister. Uncle Michael was in Slytherin and Mum was in Ravenclaw when they were here, so no one really knows where Bridget got the idea of being in Gryffindor from." Drew smiled at Magnus. "That's nice that you don't overdo the work for Mimsy. Mum said basically the same thing when we moved in...she would still clean and cook just like she had in Virginia and she told Gibby, our house elf, that we would all share the work. I don't think Gibby liked it much though because at first she muttered that Mum had been gone to long and had forgotten what a house elf was supposed to do and what a witch was supposed to do. But we've kind of resolved things now and Gibby is in full charge of the extra rooms that we never really use and she also does all the washing." He paused and then said, "come to think of it, maybe that's one reason she's not that crazy about me. But if I have lots of dirty clothes then it's giving her something to do, right?"
"Cos I am one," he said with a grin. "I've been both a Gryffindor and now Ravenclaw, so who knows, maybe the Sorting 'At will change its mind again." He laughed, "but I really don't think the 'ouse matters too much. Its really what you do, you know? Yeah the folks really believe in doing their own work and stuff. Yeah they don't seem too keen on less work..." He frowned. "But at least you got it sorted. Well, me mum says boys and quidditch players are allowed to have a LOT of dirty clothes."
Drew looked amazed. "You've been in both houses??" he asked. "How does that even work? I mean I know the hat told me that I would do well in Ravenclaw but I said I wanted Slytherin, and at least it agreed with me that I'm really not Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. I didn't know that it could change its mind each year." Shaking his head at the new idea, Drew said, "I guess you're right though that the house isn't as important as what you're like inside. Most of us are a mixture I'd say. And so far most of the Slytherins I've met are not what I expected." Drew lowered his voice and shared with Magnus, "I was afraid they would be cold and snobby and not allow a half-blood like me to be in their house no matter what the hat said. I'm glad I was wrong about that." As the topic switched back to the house elves, Drew smiled. "Well I might not play Quidditch but I am a boy. Your mum sounds like she would be fun and understanding."
"When I was being sorted the 'at wasn't sure what to put me in. It said I could go into any of the 'ouses. Finally, it decided to put me in Gryffindor, but then following year it blurted out that I should be in Ravenclaw in the 'eadmistresses office. It really don't seem to know what it wants. So, I was moved to Ravenclaw., almost been there a year now. Well if they did, I'd not 'ave so many slytherin friends as no one, including meself knows if I'm wizard born, muggle, half and half or what. I could be 'alf giant for all I know." He looked at his thin, small frame and laughed, "doubtful on that one though. Yeah she's amazing. She's vicious on a broom though. Excellent quidditch player."
Drew had to laugh at Magnus comment about his linage. "Nope, I think we can rule out giant," he grinned at the younger boy. "Wow, your mum plays Quidditch?" he asked in awe. "Mine mainly has her nose in a book...I get my love of reading and history from her. But she's a whiz at charms and transfigurations. Oh and don't make her mad...she's pretty wicked when it comes to harmless but rather embarrassing hexes."
((ooc got to head off for the night. The boys can talk more tomorrow 😄 ))
Magnus nodded, "yeah she played for the 'Olly 'Ead 'Arpies. Still joins in practices sometimes. Taught me 'ow to fly." He laughed at the hexes--wondering exactly which ones Drew managed to earn.
(sleep well ^.^)
(( I'm catching up today! Will post when I sort everything out. Please forgive me if I miss things. Feel free to bop me on the nose XD And I'm sure this won't ping anyone because I'm editing an existing post buttttt still counts! ))
No Fade hadn’t ever thought of naming his colors, but maybe that was because there was simply too many of them to pinpoint. When he was feeling weird his head looked more like a kaleidoscope. He chuckled ’s suggestion. “I haven’t but if you wana be my guest.” Wait, was he giving her an invitation to stare at him? On second thought, if he was, was it such a bad thing? His hair true to it’s nature maybe gave away a bit of his thoughts as it swirled between pink purple and blue.
As Millie () began her lecture on Ilvermorny, Fade was surprised to learn that the school was started by a couple similar to his parents. In that his father had no magical background and his mother was the witch in the family. He doodled what he imagined the sorting circle looked like, and a few versions of their uniforms as explained by Millie. It was very intriguing to see other cultures styles, Fade had always been quietly interested in clothing and putting items together to create a look. The food sounded all too familiar, it made his stomach growl.
((OOC: hey sorry guys! I feel like it's been forever since I last got on this thread. I've missed out on so much at this point, I'll just start with my most recent ping))
"Wow," Sauvage said as her eyes widened and shined with awe. "Your 'air! It's like a - oh, what's the word in Engleesh? Galaxie? Oh, wait. It is the same in Engleesh, no? A galaxy? Wiv the blue and pink and veeolette - it's so wonderful!" And without asking, without even thinking about what she was doing, she ran her fingers through Fade's hair.
(( Also, and whoever else is nearby, because who doesn't want to watch the Awkward Express take off? All aboard! choo! choo!))
