Artists on this thread who maybe don't have time to put together a tutorial for CWs/CIs because of money or just not wanting to do something for free - I'm absolutely happy to reimburse with CSC/my soul for time spent making helpful Subeta stuff. It's obviously hugely beneficial to the community. Get at me 👋.
Update on some of my other points from earlier, things that are currently being moved into place:
And finally, we're reducing the number of items required for the first batch to 6 items.
💖 ✨ 🤗
Well, those are some exciting changes! can't even wait to see how all these new features unfold 😏
How DARE you make my evening better =P Despicable!!!
No but seriously, this is really great news. I really appreciate all the work and communication you're putting into this so quickly holy potatoes. It means a LOT that you're here listening to us and actively helping us.
I'm feeling really excited about the market! I know this won't fix it immediately, and it's still going to take some time, but I'm stoked. B) (and let me take a second to briefly spazz because you're wearing an item I drew. =P)
I did a tutorial on highly textured hair here. If you use it I demand 500 billion csc. :p I can try to put together a tutorial on other things, too. I actually wanted to put something together about how I go about recolors for newer artists. But that's taking a while because it involves a lot of menial crap.
I Agree, I think 500 bil is a fair price.
No but seriously, how to even go about seeing what kind of tutorials people need? :X I could make tutorials all day, but I'd rather make useful ones and I'm just not even sure how to even go about asking T___T
-cries from joy-
These are my most favorite two things ever right now. DO YOU SEE MY GIANT SHOP OF CWs THAT I AM TRYING TO SELL ON FORUMS BUT I CANNOT KEEP UP BECAUSE IT IS A PAIN?!?!
Also - on that note.....are we getting shop categories back? (I mean, I guess it doesn't matter really because the new wardrobe doesn't rely on layer limits, but it was a lot of effort doing that layer by layer haha).
I'm not even sure either, maybe just how you go about various things ? We all kinda do our own thing after all, and maybe how you handle one thing works for X user, but how I do it works for Y user. I was thinking of putting together a CI tutorial on an item I have already done, make it easy on me. But like, what is really desired for new artists ? I know I have trouble with filled glass/bottles/etc personally. And someone should do a sheer tutorial !
wow dude this is an awesome and HUGE step forward on making CWs more approachable for not just releasers THANK YOU
my only question is how will the lowered first batch number affect submission pricing? the more info the better!
EDIT---------
i've already gotten my shop categories back :x
please consider video tutorials? i personally have a really hard time with the image tutorials esp when it comes to coloring
That's not a bad idea, if we actually talk about what we personally need tutorials for and maybe go from there? Maybe we can link to some of our stuff too and we can ask each other like 'Hey how did you do that?" (Kind of like with the hair one you just did, because that sure confused the hell out of me =P)
[edit] Would you need a voice over? Oh my goodness I am so shy about facecam / talking I am not sure I could do that. But if I can find a program that doesn't make my computer melt into hell and doesn't cost money so I can record, I can try to look into it? (if anyone reading this has suggestions, I'm all ears! Picarto doesn't work for me!)
i totally know how you feel about voiceovers /hides speaking, subtitles, companion document, etc are all good to me! i personally very much need an example before me to watch and learn
also would be awesome if you could also list info like what program you use, canvas size, brush size and type, etc
i feel like i'm asking a lot now LOL
I don't know how comfortable I am with that, but perhaps ! If there's a free online one that doesn't mind music (youtube deletes things for copyright reasons). I can't work without music... Although I guess I could have headphones on. Although I really, really hate my voice.
Oh yes, that is a good idea !
omg you're right i didn't even realize! that's stinky :/
i think there's streaming sites where you can archive our videos and they don't ping you for music in it but srsly if it's something you're not comfortable with i'm not asking you to force yourself ty for at least considering tho! <3
For now, I'll probably stick to image ones, but as soon as I figure out a recording program I can definitely try that! Are there any things specifically you feel you need tutorials for? (the more specific, the easier it is to make a tutorial!) and absolutely, I can list brush information and the like. I use Sai, so it's just a matter of screen shotting the settings =P
I know personally I really need help with super intricate, tiny filigree type things. I am struggling SO HARD to get it to look right. And backgrounds. Backgrounds are the worst. T___T and also intricate patterns NEVER look good with my shading and I'm not sure how to do patterns in my recolors OTL
chin hands while I wait for videos from both of you like the stalkery friend I am
No worries, I was really excited for a second thinking I missed it, then was like...awww nah, still the same :(
my major weakness is definitely coloring and shading! coloring is so different jumping from traditional to digital it's a pretty steep learning curve esp in the case of wigs where you try to figure out how to give the look of hair without 5 billion lines or random blobs of color LOL thank you <3
I don't think anyone would appreciate a voice over from me. It would just be like hours of me threatening it until it cooperates. But then again maybe that's the key. If you threaten it enough..... =P
[edit] I could definitely do one for hair! I feel like each artist could easily do one for hair (and by easy, I mean, it would be beneficial, not as in it wouldn't take long) just because I think everyone on the market has a different hair shading style! If you have anything else more specific (since 'coloring' and 'shading' are so vast it's hard to make tutorials for that!) I'd be more than happy to work on that type of thing if it's something I'm capable of C: (I still gots to learn me some things too!)
I mean, that's me and basically everything, so I'd appreciate it hahahaha.
I'll look into it for sure, but can't guarantee something. I'm also a rambler in odd situations like that. Like, I'll start off with 'So, doing this wig. My base colors are orange tones... I just like orange and gingery hair. Did you know that even though gingers are pretty rare, they can crop up at any moment if anyone in your family has had it ? I've got some ginger in me thanks to my dad, and because of it I have some auburn hair that likes to shine through, particularly in my moustache, which tends to blend into my skin because I have a good amount of red undertone...' You'll be watching like "... The Hell is this man talking about?"
Tiny filigree is super hard, have you tried turning off your tapering ? I should work on some tiny filigree and see if I can work it out, too. I tend to revert to larger filigrees. For highly colorful things, I usually recolor the entire thing, mask over the accent color and then start filling in the pattern. That way it has all of the shading. Then once I do recolors I drag the mask over to the new accent color. Did I explain that right ? Backgrounds are things that alter for me. I'll do one one way and another a different. DX
You're going to die of old age before this, me thinks.
