Apologies for my absence. Work started back up, which has left me with zero time, and I'm sick, as usual.

I don't know when I'll be back, especially with Hurricane Irma knocking on our doorstep. I'm not gonna lie. I'm scared to death of this one, but there's nowhere to go and no gas to get there if we did have somewhere to go.

We're prepared to be without power for quite some time, as that seems to be what the power company is indicating. When I get a chance, after it's passed, I'll get on and give you an update.

I also read that the flight companies are selling tickets up to 99$, I don't know if too late but worth to check it out.

In Costa Rica the Caribbean side is in a mess too, over a million without electricity.

Sorry you're going through that! I've been reading up on Irma. The best hope is that the storm loses power faster than predicted. Being sick during all of that sure doesn't help either - get better soon!

After four days without power, we're back. It has been sooooo hot, so I'm very relieved to have air conditioning! We're still assessing some damage, but nothing that's impacting our standard of living (unlike the fire last year at this time). There are tons of trees down everywhere, which is very sad to see, but most everyone around here seems okay. And for the next few days, I will be enjoying the fact that schools are closed and I will catch up on my Subeta time :)

Four days without power - yuck! I've never gone without power for more than a few hours. Most power failures rarely last more than a few minutes, even through flooding, tornadoes and blizzards.
