I don't have much time to spend on here lately. When I do have time, I want to come on here to unwind and have a chance to focus on something fun.
These errors are not fun. This lack of information is not fun.
Did the plot mess up the servers somehow? What's going to happen with the next major events? Are they going to be plagued with 502/504 errors?
The site status site is not enough... It's outdated and way too general to be helpful.
Day 16 since creation of this topic.
Still get 502/504 errors.

This is...interesting. How DOES this happen? Does staff have any explanation for this? Or any explanation at all, really.
Holiday season is just kicking into gear, and if it's going to remain this way, it will be absolutely miserable.
@ Calum
Don't worry. The site is fine. 😒 /sarcasm
We continue to work on them. We've been making improvements over the past few weeks, and update the status site as we make those changes.
It is hard to see some of the staff so active, especially Amber and Destiny(who is a volunteer, I believe), and then see that the people who need to keep the site actually running are so distant and unresponsive.
Ah, it all makes sense now. It's "fine," good to know.

<p>This probably doesn&;t help make anyone feel better, but one interesting thing I&;ve noticed is that it doesn&;t necessarily 502 or 504 everyone at the same time. So even if YOU don&;t have a white page or a 502 or a 504 at this very moment, it doesn&;t mean that someone else doesn&;t have one...
How do I know this? My wife was restocking on her laptop next to me last night. Both of us were refreshing in Freyalise. I got 502s and continued refreshing, hoping to get out of them before the next restock. No such luck. She calls out "it&;s restocked!" and I complain about the 502s, and then I realize: how would she know if it&;s restocked now unless she <em>doesn&;t</em> have 502s? I ask about it, and she claims she doesn&;t have them at all and can restock as normal. I continue refreshing - still 502s. She got 2-3 items that restock with no 502s, while I didn&;t even see the restock because of constant 502s. Hmmmmm. How can this happen in the same house, sitting across from each other on the same couch?

Thanks for the info, I just assumed that the errors were for everyone at the same time. This is strange indeed. Now I want to know even more what EXACTLY is happening, if they know what's causing this, if they can fix it. Any information would be fine, at this point...
The errors are becoming quite concerning especially with the start of the holiday season beginning now. I have received quite a few 502s and then I just leave to do something else. It is quite frustrating but even more so to see the lack of response from staff.
Huh, this would explain my confusion over refreshing Freyalise constantly til the error goes away, seeing that it's restocked within the last minute, but has no items in stock anymore. I was wondering how it could be possible for people to buy up everything before I could even see it if they were also getting the errors.
Ugh, it's making it hard to want to do questing and such with all the errors... Hopefully this gets resolved soon, I'm sure this is really frustrating for everyone involved, including staff :c

I can confirm that this same thing has been happening to me. I will refresh and the shop will just restock with a ton of items. I buy one then go back to shop, but that's when I get the error. When the error finally goes away, all the other items are gone. The only explanation is that they all sold and that means not everyone is getting the errors at the same time. It appears that everyone is dealing with a shit ton of errors but bot necessarily at the same time.
lol its so laggy i cant do any questing. or at least, questing takes like 5x the time.
yes i feel like the errors are really on and off with me...i get one randomly and i refresh and its fine, no lagging or anything. then i wont get any for two hours (while others seem to be getting them more frequently)...its really strange
Although I don't spend too much time on Subeta nowadays, this site is always great for me when I want to unwind. Part of the reason why I decided to take a semi-hiatus was because of the lagging and slow staff response. To check in and see that the problems are still continuing is worrisome.
❄️ Seeking Elsa or Olaf inspired CWs ❄️
I'm a little in awe there's been no further staff response to this thread. I know the plot just finished, and I know mentioned elsewhere that someone is out sick, but c'mon.
"We're reading this, we get it, we're sorry, we'll have more to say later". It isn't much, and in some ways it not being substantial is frustrating in and of itself, but I think most would agree that something > nothing. Have a MM formally pass it on if nothing else.
- You're right that we haven't gotten any direct staff communication, but they did just announce upcoming maintenance today. That's not a common thing on Subeta, so I have to assume it's related to the 502/504 errors. Hopefully we'll get some real information once that's done.
That would kind of go along with what Keith recently said about trying to write up post-mortems, which come out after a game is released or an issue is resolved. (I didn't expect it to be the only form of communication, though, especially when he also name-dropped "agile development" a few months ago, which I haven't seen much evidence of.)

On the news post I said: Karen 09/29/16 3:38 pm Okay, so maybe after that you guys will stop ignoring the boards asking about wardrobe and what staff is doing to fix all of the errors? It would be appreciated.
Then Keith responded with: Keith 09/29/16 7:39 pm Staff We're not ignoring, this is directly related to fixing the errors.
So, apparently we aren't actually going to be told anything of substance and these boards aren't worth their direct responses even though the userbase is obviously very upset about the whole situation with the site. I honestly don't understand it. Making a generic news post about maintenance is not a response to this board or the board about the wardrobe and it sure doesn't address all of the questions people have asked.
Honestly, they'd better hope this maintenance works or people are probably going to start quitting or going on hiatus.
It's not fun having to fight 502s every half hour, and it's going to be even less fun having to put up with this nonsense while trying to participate in all of the upcoming events.
I'm trying to understand what even happened, because last year the site functioned so much better during event season. And it was doing okay until the Bad Omen plot with the donation drives and everything kind of went to shit and hasn't recovered for some reason.
And the lack of communication from staff is disheartening, especially when they come back and try to say that they haven't been ignoring us. Yeah right ~
I'm hoping that staff will do the mantainance job earlier than next Tuesday, because today it's almost impossible loading any pages without previously getting tons of 502/504 errors. It's so frustrating. ;_;
coding and fixing website problems isn't like the classic computer troubleshoot: turn off computer and reboot it. (that should also tell you how much computers are just sometimes witchcraft)
Sometimes the problem is weirdly unknowable and sharing the 1048 things you've tried before with the userbase is actually just not useful. Saying "this should have worked and I tried 99 other things" is just not useful. I mean I guess if you guys really want to know, and to also waste staff's time trying to actually fix the problems, I guess you could demand them to write a bajillion reports. That said, it seems that some people are experiencing a ton of lag!errors while others are not (I am one of those lucky people who see them rarely). This is a reallly really weird and hard problem to solve, and something that sometimes doesn't get noticed by staff until people actually report it to the problems&bugs forum. Sometimes it's even the weirdest fix - if even a fix at all. I was experiencing the "double click/double buying" issue, and it turns out that it was MY OWN CUSTOMCSS that was the problem. Again, computers are witchcraft. How in the world that css fucks with javascript (maybe?) and makes me double-buy, I have no idea, but that was the fix.
also lmao idk how long most of the people posting here have been with subeta, but 502/4s are nothing compared to actual major outages that me and some older users have seen.... and we're still here. So... yea, sure some people might "leave" but I don't think Subeta is just going to die because of some actually non-jarring lag. [anyone remember actual lag pre-lagmonster?? lol] I'm not saying past problems are something to weathered, and I'd also say that the site has improved a lot since those dark ages, I'm just saying that 502s and 504s aren't going to break the lifeline of this site. Especially when we're starting to head into the event months (woohoo!!). Although, like most people, I'm just hoping it won't be too bad.
