I'm so sorry! Still knock on wood I haven't had an error yet today which is why I probably seem almost oblivious to some users (not you) about the errors. I don't know why it is that case but it really does amaze me how drastically different one user's experience is to another's. As you can tell we have both been on at the exact same time and on site but yet we totally get a different like feel for the site.
The site is HEAVING this morning and there's currently 426 users online lmao. I can't remember it being this bad this early in the morning in recent times.
These errors are becoming unbearable. It feels like they are getting worse somehow? I can't even donate items to the Recycle Beast or play the game at all without the site going down on every other page click. I don't normally complain but I kind of feel like I need to let off some steam because this is quite frustrating.
For some reason the errors have been worse for me since yesterday again. Super frustrating.
- I was thinking maybe it's worse because of the Recycle Beast taking Free Beer? Maybe something about lots of people trying to give him large amounts of items? But obviously I have no idea how the site works so that is just speculation on my part really!
Either way I wish he would just drink take my 3k Free Bear already -_-
EDIT: Actually the Recycle Beast is acting really weird. It is taking some items - even though it is erroring - and I don't think I am getting any points for what is being turned in.
This may sound like a dumb question, but how does staff not know when the site is shitting the bed? Like, we play, we get errors, we see there's a problem. We then make a board and staff says, "nope. everything's fine on my end because the code says so." and we spend days/weeks going in circles until someone on staff finally acknowledges that there is indeed a problem.
Do staff ever play the game off the dev site? Is that the issue? I'm not sure how you can be aware of what's happening if you aren't playing the "same" game as everyone else.
Also, I haven't been much of anywhere yet, but I haven't gotten a single error, and it seems like other people are. It's been asked but not answered, but why do people have such varying degrees of gameplay? Is it the server they're linked to?
Ahhh, yes. Morostide came with the scariest monster of all: neverending 502 / 504s. They've been nonstop for me for three days now, despite the "fix" pushed through. And no acknowledgment from staff that users are, in fact, still encountering massive amounts of errors and downtime (and giving me free GA time won't mollify me, sorry). Never change, Subeta.
I'm pretty sure that if you don't edit your post the staff will be saying "sayonara_baby" to you.
I just want to pop on to say that I agree with SO MUCH of what's been said on this board.
I've only been on 6 years, so I know others have seen even more of this site than I have. But I can't remember a time when lag and/or errors weren't a problem for a sustained period of time. :(
Site finances have definitely improved during my time here, particularly with the introduction of CWs. Yet, things seem as bad as they've ever been. Which begs the question: Where is the money going, if not into site improvements?
Disappointed.
I have been around Subeta over 8 years now and I know things were never perfect but I don't remember them ever being this bad. Literally 502/504 errors everywhere, with or without site events it doesn't matter anymore. What has changed? Has the user base really increased that drastically? It doesn't seem like it. Is it all these new features released under old, broken coding? I'm finding it harder and harder to come back and participate in anything, whether it be ToT or battling or questing, because the site keeps breaking every 10 minutes. Even commenting, I'm going to be copying after I finish this just in case the site breaks as I post this. It's nice that subeta has a loyal user base but if big fixes that continue to work don't start happening, I'm sure a lot of people will start questioning if they should continue to support the site.
attempting to post
So, I'm thinking of giving up on Morostide completely. Every time I come home from work and attempt to play, I either get white pages or 502/504 errors.
COMMUNICATION PLEASE!!
Why in the world did you all start Morostide when the site is so wonderfully craptastic? What's the point? Are you trying to make us all quit so that you can shut down the site? If so, I think your plan might work. If that's not your plan, what gives? This is one of the best events for the entire year, and right now, instead of it being fun, it's beyond frustrating. I haven't even had an opportunity to trick-or-treat yet!
[edit]
OMG... My post went through and I've managed to stay on the site for a whole five minutes... This is an effing miracle.
The site has been running terribly, and again we aren't being told anything from staff as to what's going on or if they're even working on it. It is not a good feeling.
I'm confused. So I've seen a handful of errors during Morostide, but the site is far from being in shambles.
If I was going off of this board alone, I'd think I wasn't able to access anything whatsoever. But that's simply not the case. I've received one of everything from both ToTing and the Patch. If errors pop up, I can normally refresh and have them gone within 5-10 seconds. (And I see <5 errors throughout the day.) My gameplay is far from being disrupted.
I stand by my point of wanting some questions answered by staff about the status of the servers, but I'm honestly confused by all the people rage-quitting right now. How are our site experiences so different?
It's been pretty bad for me for the past 3 days. :/ I'm slowly trudging through my quests and trick-or-treating, but the errors are getting really frustrating and I've been playing tug-o-war with myself over whether I should bother posting about it, or if I'm just repeating the obvious.
At least the status site has a relatively recent update.
Yeah I don't know. Obviously there are still problems, and I am getting some periods with nonstop errors. But for the most part, it doesn't seem to be quite as bad as it was. I'm still able to get my ToT and pumpkin patch stuff done.
I've seen the theory mentioned that people are on different servers and that's why some people are nearly problem free while others are drowning in 502s and 504s. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it sounds plausible.
If it helps the programmers any, I'm in Europe? If there's any other information I need to provide when I get the 50X error page, I'd be more than happy to provide it if it helps with resolving this. Just... so tired of 50X errors. :(
For me I notice the errors come in waves... First the site runs smooth enough I can actually DO things... then the lag kicks in and then in come the 504/502 errors. Sometimes they last a few refreshes, sometimes they last longer. Then after that headache passes the site runs fine... then it's back at it again. Most of the time out of nowhere too.
Yeah that does seem possible I guess.
Pretty much exactly how it is for me too, except the down periods seem to be happening somewhat less often for me at least.
Same here. It's usually a single 504, and then every refresh after that gives me a 502. It's gotten to the point where as soon as I spot that pattern, I close the tab and go do something else for 15 minutes. It's not worth fighting.
